Chris & Susan are hopeful adoptive parents from New York waiting to adopt a baby.

If you are pregnant and considering placing your child for adoption, please read the following Dear Birthmother Letter.

Welcome Hi!
Thank you for taking the time to read our letter and considering us as the adoptive parents to your child. We understand firsthand how wonderful and fulfilling the experience of adoption can be, as Susie was adopted as an infant and we have adopted our son Lucas, 23 months ago. We are excited to share the wonderful journey of adoption with you, and we recognize how courageous you are to make one of the most important decisions of your life.

Our Dream
When we first met we discussed raising kids together and shared our hopes and dreams for our children. We have been blessed to be able to experience the joys of raising a child as we witnessed our son Luke's birth and he is now almost two! It has always been our dream to have children to shower with love and affection, to kiss and to hug away tears, and we want Lucas to have a sister or brother to adore, and us to have another child to love as much as we love him. We can't imagine our lives together without children to love, to tuck into bed every night and say, "Goodnight, sweetheart, Mommy and Daddy love you. We'll see you in the morning."

In many ways, we feel as though this road has been chosen for us, as if we were meant to adopt our children. Although we understand that choosing the best life for your baby is the most brave and honorable choice you can make as a birth mother, somehow to us it simply feels as though we have been waiting for you to come into our lives. Please call us anytime at: 518-858-1102 or email us at Send us a message.

Thank you and warm wishes,
Chris and Susie Calyer

About Us We met playing volleyball, shortly after Susie moved to New York. We dated for five years before we were married and we've been happily married for nine more years. Now we look forward to spending the rest of our lives together and sharing them with our children. We feel that we have a solid relationship built on love, honesty and trust, and firmly believe that we are each other's best friend. We love to laugh together and hope to share our sense of humor with our children, which we can already see happening with our first child Luke as he is seems to always be happy and smiling. We look forward to sharing the joys of raising our children, and hope that you will be an ongoing part of this child's life in a meaningful way if you so desire.
Chris and Susie Susie grew up in Pittsburgh, and graduated from Ohio State University with a degree in Occupational Therapy. She spent nine years working in a large hospital, and for four years supervised a private clinic that specializes in Hand Therapy. Now she works for a Non-Profit Charity, the ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) Center for St. Peters Hospital in Albany NY. She is a devoted football fan and is fiercely loyal to her home teams, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the OSU Buckeyes. She loves to garden and grows both flowers and vegetables organically. She can't wait to show her children how amazing it is to plant a seed and watch it turn into a flower, and Luke has already discovered how wonderful freshly picked blackberries and home grown cucumbers and tomatoes taste straight from the garden.

Chris was born in Maryland and grew up close to where we now live. He runs his own construction company and works from home, but travels to his job sites every day. He has fun with all of the big "toys" his construction company owns, including a bulldozer, backhoe, large tractor, and especially an ATV for which we have carved trails out of our woods to ride. He loves taking Lucas for rides in his special safety seat on our Four Wheeler around our property and Luke asks constantly for more! Chris enjoys woodworking and has made several pieces of furniture for our home, and still loves to play volleyball. He's looking forward to teaching our children how to play and has already shared his love for motorized vehicles with Luke.

Luke seems to love growing up in the country. He enjoys taking walks, which we try to do almost every day, no matter what the weather and pointing out birds, picking up big rocks, and walking through mud puddles as often as he can. He also loves going to daycare a couple of days a week as he loves interacting with the other children there, and he is learning so much there. We feel that he gets the best of both worlds, life out in the country and regular city trips to play with other children every week.
Luke likes to go to church a few times a month and loves to play with the other children at the local YMCA while Susie exercises. He also loves to be outside, especially when he has friends over to play on his swing set and in the sandbox. When his cousins visit, he especially likes it when they take him on rides in his toy tractors and cars! We have a small lake house and boat and enjoy boating to a sandy island in the middle of the lake where Luke plays with his cousins near the water. He loves going to the lake and is learning how to swim like a big kid.
Our Home and Backyard We live in a rural area of Upstate New York near Albany in our dream house that we helped to build. We have a wonderful view of both mountains and forests, and share our driveway with close friends who have two small children we love and a dog. Our village has a "small town" feel to it, where everyone seems to know everyone else, and our road has families with whom we hope our child will play. However, we are only a short drive to the city, and frequently enjoy dinners out and city activities like children's shows, and going to the parks for walks and festivals.

Our dogs love the country as much as we do and we love taking Luke on hikes in the woods to look for toads and squirrels, and bringing home lots of wildflowers to fill vases for our home. We feel that we have the best of two different ways of living—a wonderful house in a beautiful country setting where our children can grow up chasing frogs around the pond and ice skating in the winter, but also close enough to the city to enjoy all the cultural and educational benefits a city can offer.
