Urban Legend? That's what we thought when we read peoples' success stories about meeting a birthfamily within weeks of joining parent profiles. And yet, that's exactly what happened for us. We signed up in January and within a week we'd made a match to a great couple in a neighboring state. We traveled to visit them in mid February and were still sort of "feeling one another out" when we were contacted by the woman who would be the birthmother of our daughter.

She contacted us on a Thursday, she was post-term. We arranged to meet on a Saturday, yet early Saturday morning we got "the call" that she'd gone into labor. Our daughter was born and ... I have no words.

We were very impressed with the way this site got us to articulate things about ourselves and our life that other adoption search processes had not yet elicited. We met a great group of other waiting and successful adoptive parents in our state through this site. I'd recommend reaching out to your in-state cohort of folks if you can, it's been a real help having a local cheerleading section working for you.
