Success Story

Dave & Rachel
We had waited 2 1/2 years for our adoption agency to match us with a birthmom....with Parent Profiles it only took 6 weeks! We were contacted by 3 birthmothers, and our birthmom was actually the first one to contact us. We began an email correspondence that has developed into a nice friendship as well. We are lucky she lives in a town less than an hour away. Baby is now 3 more ...

Early Pregnancy

A New Life Begins

For many women, early pregnancy is a difficult time, particularly if the baby was not planned. An unplanned pregnancy can be heart-breaking, but, planned or not, it is important that both partners in the pregnancy sit down and discuss the change in their lives and how to make their pregnancy a healthy, happy and positive stage of their lives.

There's an empty spot in our hearts waiting to be filled. Could you be the answer to that prayer?

For couples delighted to becoming parents, congratulations! Early pregnancy is exciting and a busy time as many changes may have to be made, baby rooms painted, names discussed and grandparents informed. It may be a good time at this early pregnancy stage to start reading as much as you both can about pregnancy, childbirth and what it means to be a parent. And when you've prepared as much as you can and your baby is born, you'll probably feel you wasted your time! But that's nine months down the line. Right now, use the time to relax and enjoy your pregnancy.

The stage of early pregnancy is around the first three months after conception. There are a number of early signs of pregnancy including the cessation of menstruation - and immediately a woman thinks she is pregnant, she should make an appointment with her doctor or gynecologist to confirm her pregnancy. She needs to immediately start taking care of her body. If she is on the pill, for instance, she needs to stop taking it. She can do a home pregnancy test, but a urine test done by a doctor or at a pregnancy clinic is more reliable.

Meanwhile, it is in early pregnancy, unaware of all the excitement outside the womb, that the baby starts its extraordinary journey. After conception, the embryo is a primitive creature a piece of tissue with protruding bits, rather like an amoeba. But it does have a tiny, beating heart. In early pregnancy, the embryo rapidly develops new organs and tissues and after the second month is already well-formed enough to be granted a grand new name the fetus. He or she is still a long way from becoming Little Johnny or Cute Claire at this stage, however!
