Success Story

Gretchen & Gregg
We had two contacts within two weeks and the first came on day two of our site being up. We are amazed at the response. We were actually able to choose our birth family and while the baby has not been born yet, if all goes well, it will have been 5 months from the date we were activated to the day of the birth. Bloating in Pregnancy

Bloating is a major concern for many moms-to-be, but luckily there is help out there. The trick is to figure out what triggers your own body and then begin by eliminating those foods or activities first. You can discuss your options with your doctor as well, as they may have some tips to get you through uncomfortable bloating. It is important to remember that some bloating will be present during pregnancy due to your changing fluid intake and a slow digestive track.

The first and easiest step to eliminating bloating is to change your diet. Often times gas and bloating can be triggered by certain foods such as: beans, cabbage, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, and asparagus. Others may experience discomfort from foods that are high in fiber, or onions, pears, artichokes and sodas and fruit drinks sweetened with the sugar fructose. Begin by eliminating one item at a time, until the problem subsides itself. Don't forget to factor in milk if you are lactose intolerant.

Here are some more tips to help relieve gas and bloating:

  • Eat small meals throughout the day. This will eliminate a shock to your system that can often cause bloating.
  • Don't talk while you are eating. Doing so will cause you to swallow air leading to gas and bloating.
  • Limit fluid intake during meals.
  • Drink from a glass, avoiding straws. And don't gulp when you drink.
  • Avoid carbonated drinks.
  • Sit up while eating.
  • Wearing loose clothing.
  • Avoid gum and hard candy
  • Exercise- it can get your digestive track moving.

If you try all of the above and are still experiencing painful gas and bloating talk to your doctor about taking an over the counter anti-gas medicine containing simethicone.
