We had two contacts within two weeks and the first came on day two of our site being up. We are amazed at the response. We were actually able to choose our birth family and while the baby has not been born yet, if all goes well, it will have been 5 months from the date we were activated to the day of the birth. We don't want to be superstitious since more ...

Facing Pregnancy Alone

Most women often feel a mix of emotions when they go through a pregnancy. If you are facing pregnancy alone, you might feel more anxious and nervous than excited. This is very normal for women who are planning to go through the entire course without the help of the father. If you are feeling overwhelmed and not sure to whom to turn or where to turn, you do have options.

You will need to make sure that you try to gain control of your situation. No matter how stressed or upset you may be feeling, you are not going to get very far if you can't remain calm. Try to sit down and take a few deep breaths and figure out your next step. This can be especially scary if the pregnancy is actually a surprise pregnancy. So try to relax if you can.

If you have any close friends that live in your area, try to see if you can get with them to talk. Having someone that you can confide in and talk to on a regular basis will help you cope with the feelings of being alone as well as the feelings you have about being pregnant-whether positive or negative. There are also pregnancy support groups that you may find useful as well. These groups can be found online or you can locate them within your local neighborhood.

If you have just found out that you're expecting a child on your own, you should take ample time to consider all of your options. If you are a teenager and you're experiencing an unplanned pregnancy, you may choose to place the child with an adoptive family. Or some women decide to keep and raise the child, no matter how hard it may be at times. Take the time to sit down and reflect upon yourself and think of your future.

Some women might be unaware of the entire birthing process and what is required to care for a baby. It is important that you educate yourself on how the baby will develop within the next 9 months and what you should and should not do while you're pregnant. You should also take the time to learn about adoption and how to find the right agency for your particular situation and needs-if you decide adoption is the right path for you.

The first few years of raising a child is going to cost you thousands of dollars each year. You need to figure out what you current financial status is before you make an ultimate decision. Some mothers feel that even though they are going through pregnancy alone, they are strong enough and financially set to raise their own child.

Think about the overall support level that you are going to have from friends and family. For some single mothers, this can be a very hard thing for loved ones to understand, and it might not be as easy to keep and raise a baby. Keep in mind: you are not completely alone during all of this. Simply find the right people that can help teach you about your options and how simple it can be to make a decision.
