Success Story

Steve & Linda
We wanted to let you know that our son Jack was born in February and we are in the process of finalizing the adoption. Our birth mother found us through your website and for this we will be eternally grateful. You have organized your website very well and made the sometimes difficult networking process much easier. We have no doubt that without you Jack would not be our son. Thank you very more ...

Miscarriage Symptoms

Miscarriage Symptoms

A miscarriage is the loss of the embryo before 20 weeks of pregnancy. They happen quite a bit, in about 15% of known cases of pregnancy. In most cases, the cause for the miscarriage will not be found out. In fact, it is unknown why most miscarriages happen altogether. But, there are signs and symptoms of miscarriage that everyone should be aware of.

Symptoms Of Miscarriage

Spotting and bleeding are the most common signs that something is not right. Some spotting in early pregnancy can be quite normal. You will want to call your doctor right away if you find any evidence of this happening. In these cases, your bleeding may last for several weeks and eventually there will be a discharge of the pregnancy tissues. Tell your doctor when this has happened.

In other cases there will be no sign that a miscarriage has happened. You may find out when you go in to see your doctor and he or she can not find the baby's heartbeat. The ultimate decision that you have had a miscarriage will be made through an ultrasound. In many cases, you will likely not have any symptoms for a few weeks after the embryo has stopped developing.

Risks Of Miscarriage

The risks of miscarriage are the highest during the first few weeks of pregnancy. In most cases, miscarriages will happen in the first trimester. Up to 80% will. The cause of the miscarriage will probably not be known but many are due to the embryo simply stopping to develop. It is believed that some embryos will have missing or damaged chromosomes and this causes the miscarriage. In other cases, a miscarriage will happen because of problems that happen in the first beginnings of human development.

It is very important than women who have miscarriages get the emotional help that they need during this very trying time. Although you can conceive up to a few weeks after you have a miscarriage, your doctor will probably tell you to wait until a full cycle has past before trying. During that time period, you will want to seek counseling.
