Prenatal Care

The first discovery of an unplanned pregnancy can come as a huge shock. You may be confused, scared, and overwhelmed. It can be easy to pretend that what's happening to you isn't your immediate reality. But, it is. It's important to remember that you now have a big responsibility: proper prenatal care.

Thank you for your interest in getting to know us. We are so excited and proud to be adopting for the second time. Our daughter Jenny joined our family through the miracle of adoption and we are so grateful for her birthparents.

Proper prenatal care is essential throughout the entirety of your pregnancy, and is more than just taking care of your growing child. It's also about taking care of yourself, as you are crucial to the health and wellbeing of your child. Even if you are placing your child, you still have the responsibility to properly care for yourself and your child.

Prenatal care needs to begin within the first trimester of the pregnancy. Once you know that you are carrying a child, talk with your physician as soon as possible. This way, you will be able to get everything checked--ensuring that you and the baby are perfectly safe. Blood tests will be taken, and your doctor should discuss what is going to come next and what you can expect in the future. The prenatal program will then be discussed so that you are aware of what you need to do throughout the remainder of your pregnancy--diet, exercise, medication and vitamins, and so on.

Staying on top of prenatal care can give doctors and specialists the opportunity to catch health concerns early, which allows them to treat any problems accordingly. Make sure to take your vitamins and keep all your doctor appointments. It will be beneficial to both you and your baby.

If you have medical health coverage, then you shouldn't have to worry about the financial aspect of prenatal care. If you are worried about the overall cost of this care, take a look into free clinics, churches, and hospitals that are willing to help mothers in need. Also, some communities and states offer healthcare for low-income families.

No matter if you're placing or parenting your child, prenatal care is a vital part of a happy, healthy pregnancy and life afterward. You can give your child a healthy start by taking care of yourself throughout your pregnancy.
