We had only had our profile activated a short time before our agency was contacted by our birhtmother. The agency explained to her, her rights and the laws of adoption for our state. Only two more months passed and we set up a meeting. She was so sweet and we just prayed that she liked us. We were on pins and needles waiting to hear from our agency. We found more ...

Pregnant Belly

Your Pregnant Belly

There's no escaping it now. There's no way of hiding it. Your belly is proclaiming to all around you that you are indeed very pregnant! So apart from being the living quarters of your growing baby, and a vehicle for advertising the upcoming birth event, what other uses does your pregnant belly have?

We are John and Sandra. We can only imagine what you are going through right now. We admire and respect the decision you have made for your baby. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

As you go through late trimester 2 and trimester 3, your growing belly will be of great interest to your medical support team. At each visit you will have the bump measured to check that the appropriate growth has been achieved for the period since it was last measured. This measurement is important as it flags any potential growth problems quickly and an ultrasound test can be used to check the situation should something be amiss.

On a more personal note, a pregnant belly is something which, once hidden as unsightly, is now thought to be a thing of beauty. The obligatory belly photo taken on a basic camera, shared with close friends and then hidden has now evolved to an art form where pregnant women employ professional photographers to take a studio type photo of them to record the pregnancy. These photos capture the serenity of the woman as she gently holds her pregnant belly, thinking of the baby within. Pregnancy photos are such big business at the moment that there are many professional photographers who actually focus some of their advertising revenue at this market.

A more personal and arty approach to recording a pregnant woman's belly is by making a plaster cast of it. Once it's made, it can be painted, decorated, or just left as it is, and placed in the home as a statue or wall hanging - a three dimensional reminder of the bump to look at in awe once the baby is born.

A pregnant belly is not only large, it's also tactile, and it always seems to be open season for those who think touching one is good luck - so if you're pregnant, and you like to keep your personal space private - make sure your belly is well covered and out of reach of anyone who might think to give it a little rub!
