Failed birth control or even no birth control at all are very clear causes of unplanned pregnancy. If you forget to take a birth control pill or two during the month, you could easily set yourself up for something that you're not ready to handle. Condoms have also been known to break due to poor production and lubrication. These are the situations that can lead to a pregnancy that neither you nor your partner are prepared to handle.
Teenagers make up a majority of the unplanned pregnancies in the country. In the last three years, we have seen a 3 percent increase among teen pregnancies. Just because you decide to choose to have the baby on your own does not mean that you have to do everything on your own. There are support groups and doctors with whom you can easily connect. Whichever route you decide is best for you and your baby, you should never be made to feel guilty or ashamed. Try not to look at your unexpected pregnancy as having a negative effect on your life and your plans. Those who choose to raise their child look back and do see a lot of growth within themselves. However, if you simply feel that you are not ready to handle being a parent and raising a child on your own, you do have options.
