Summer 1998--We met in high school, where we both participated in drama, choir, and dance. When we dated in college, we enjoyed swing dancing and going on long walks.
Nov. 20, 1998--We got married in American Fork, Utah. We went on a honeymoon to Boston. This was just the beginning of the great happiness we find in marriage.
Dec. 1998--Christmas with Ethan's family. Ethan grew up on an island called Kwajalein (a military base in the Pacific). His family moved to Utah when Ethan was in high school. Most of his family still lives in Utah.
Dec. 2004--Libby grew up in Arizona and then moved to Utah just before Ethan's family moved there. Her dad died in 2001, and this picture shows her mom and stepdad's marriage. (Libby's stepdad died in Jan. 2009.) Most of Libby's family lives in Utah.
Winter 2002--We were Neighborhood Chairs for Provo City Council and helped coordinate some local events for the passing of the 2002 Olympic Torch. We believe that local politics are very important, and we hope to continue to be involved.
Halloween 2004--We love to dress up for Halloween, and we love to host parties. Every year, we host a Groundhog Day party, and we have hosted a number of Murder Mystery parties.
March 2009--Birthdays are especially important in our family. All family members deserve a day when they are the center of attention.
Spring 2004--One of our favorite tourist spots is Disneyland. We have gone there several times with family members.
Summer 2007--We have also traveled throughout Europe and the United States. Libby was an exchange student to Holland while in high school. We also went to Europe to do research for Libby's master's thesis. We especially love visiting the countryside.
Spring 2008--Ethan loves to play guitar! He has participated in a few different bands. In addition to playing guitar, he plays the trumpet and is an excellent tenor.
1993--Ethan enjoys hiking, camping, fishing, and scouting. He earned his Eagle Scout and continues to enjoy the outdoors.
1988--As a youth, Ethan participated in Tae Kwon Do. He's gotten out of practice but hopes to pick it up again soon.
Christmas 2000--Libby is also musical. She plays piano, and for a couple years, she sang in a German Christmas celebration called Adventsingen. Libby speaks German, Dutch, and some French.
Spring 2009--Libby has always enjoyed flower gardening, but this was her first year doing an organic vegetable garden. She enjoys playing in the dirt and cooking meals with fresh vegetables and fruits, whole grains, and legumes.
Summer 2008--Libby enjoys needlework. She learned to sew as a teenager and has continued sewing. She recently took a quilting class.
August 2008--Education is important to us, and we both teach at the college level (Libby just part time). We chose careers that allow both of us the flexibility to spend plenty of time at home. We love teaching!
Summer 2002--Ethan enjoys studying Science Fiction literature. He also has degrees in English and Philosophy. He is currently working on a PhD in Rhetoric and Composition at Purdue.
Summer 2007--Libby has degrees in European Studies, History Education, and European History. She researches communist women in Europe in the 1920's, including those portrayed in this photo.
Summer 2008--We love to visit Ethan's relatives in Southern Utah, where we went hiking. We enjoy spending time in the mountains and in nature.
February 2009--Every year, our church produces a Murder Mystery Play. This year, we were in it together (Ethan as a 1980's football player, and Libby as his cheerleading wife.) Theatre is an interest we share.
Nov. 2008--We have been married for over ten years and can't imagine life without each other. Marriage has brought immense joy to us, and we look forward to the happiness that the future will surely bring as children join our family.
August 2009--This is the most recent picture of us. It was taken when we went to Ft. Worth, Texas to visit Ethan's brother's family.
