What Adoption Means to Us Adoption is very dear to our hearts! My mother was adopted from an orphanage when she was just a few days old! So, I am the child of a mother who was given up for adoption! My mother was able to grow up in a home where she had many opportunities to grow and develop and she knew that she was loved! Unfortunately, during that time, the adoption records were closed so she had no way of knowing her biological parents. This left a void in her life! After much legal paperwork, she was finally able to find her biological mom a few years ago. She had so many questions for her mom. Why was she given up? Who was her father? Did she have any siblings? Being able to make this connection, even though it was later in life for her, has helped her to come to know things about her life that she would never have known otherwise.

As we look to adopt, we plan on sharing as much information as possible with the child we are blessed to take into our family! We believe this is so important so that they know where they came from and that they were very much loved and wanted. We realize it is very difficult for loving birthparents to trust complete strangers with raising their precious child. We understand that concern. We promise to you that we will love your child unconditionally and that they will know of you and your love as well!

We truly believe ADOPTION is not abandoning your responsibility. It's taking MORE responsibility. It is truly taking care of your own, because you're saying I can't give this child what he or she needs, but someone else can.

Shane & Keri's Story Shane and I have been married 14 years! We met in college. Time has flown by, but we continue to fulfill our hopes and dreams together. When we first met, we talked about the things we wanted from a future spouse. Many nights were spent talking until the early morning about all we would accomplish in life. We wanted to be successful, be happy, and enjoy creating many memories with our future family. We have fulfilled many dreams and hope to be able to fulfill many more in the coming years.

One of those dreams is to have children. We have been blessed with two wonderful children and we are so grateful for them! You might wonder why we would want more kids since we already have two beautiful children. We love being parents! We truly believe that bringing children into the world and raising them are the most important things you do in life! This is where we find our greatest joy!

Since we want more children and are no longer able to have them, we have discussed adoption in our family. We do not think of adoption as second best! We believe that God has a plan for all families and we believe that for ours it is to have both biological and adopted children.

We have seen first hand the joy adoption can bring into our own families. We know the price of our family expanding comes at someone else's sacrifice. We appreciate the fact that there are people, like you, willing to take that leap of faith and put your child in our arms! We are SO EXCITED about the possibility of having an additional family member or two! We can't wait to share all of our exciting adventures!

FROM KERI:

Shane is a wonderful father and husband. He is a banker and is one of the few people I know who has been employed at the same company for 12 years! His job allows us to have financial stability and allows me to stay home and take care of our most important asset...our children! Shane has a great sense of humor and is a fun person to be around! He loves to come home and play with our children. It is his favorite time of day! Shane loves sports and can often be found playing basketball, softball, soccer and tennis. He enjoys teaching our children these sports as well. He also enjoys music. He grew up playing the trumpet, taking piano lessons and singing with his family. He is teaching our daughter piano right now. He gives his all in everything he does and that has made me so proud of him!

FROM SHANE:

Keri is a wonderful mother. She enjoys spending time with each child. She is constantly working to ensure that our children have a memorable, happy childhood. She plans fun activities and helps them with their homework. She truly loves children and cannot wait to have another little one in our family. She is also a fantastic wife. She is supportive and wants me to succeed. Keri is easy to get along with and has many close friends. She is very active and enjoys biking and going to the gym. Her favorite hobby is decorating our home! She loves watching HGTV and finding new ways to make our home the place where all the kids want to be! She also volunteers at our children's school. She is truly my best friend!

Our Family Kaylee is our wonderful 10-year old girl! She is beautiful and has a very big heart! She has many friends and loves spending time with them. She enjoys sports of all kinds. Her favorites are soccer, volleyball, and swimming. Her favorite activities at home are jumping on the trampoline, singing, cooking and doing crafts. She always makes very unique gifts for Christmas for the entire family. She is fun and full of energy! She can't wait to be a BIG sister ...again!

Dillon is our awesome 8 year old boy! He is very social and enjoys being with others! He loves to be active and is always ready to play any type of sports! He is all-boy! His friendly nature makes him someone others love to be around. He enjoys making people laugh! His favorite activities at home are playing basketball, football and video games. He works hard and plays hard! He will make a fantastic BIG brother!

Our Favorite Memories We enjoy the time we are able to spend together! We have Family Home Evening every Monday night and enjoy sharing talents with each other, as well as having a lesson about family values and of course....TREATS! We also have a family movie night every Friday. Some of our favorite movies are Night at the Museum, Freaky Friday, Sky High, and Herbie: Fully Loaded. The kids look forward to this night all week! We know these small weekly activities are the things that will become our own special family traditions!

Shane and I also try to go on dates as often as possible. Shane loves to go to the movies and I enjoy going out to eat at new restaurants. We realize that our family can only be as strong as our marriage and we make a conscious effort to make it a top priority in our lives! We think it is very important to take this time to communicate with one another and share our thoughts and feelings.

We love going on vacation! These are some of our favorite times! We usually take a vacation to see family and a "fun" vacation each year. We have been to Kauai, Disneyland, snowmobiling to the top of the Continental Divide, skiing in Winter Park, and parasailing in Myrtle Beach, SC. These vacations give us the opportunity to experience different activities and enjoy time together!

We are lucky to live close to Grandma and Grandpa as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins. We enjoy getting together for holidays, birthdays, and special events. We are committed to each other and our family!
