Rich & Kathy are hopeful adoptive parents from New Jersey waiting to adopt a baby.

If you are pregnant and considering placing your child for adoption, please read the following Dear Birthmother Letter.

Dear Birth Parents, Three cheers for you, your choice for life and adoption! We know your decision takes a tremendous amount of courage and love. We admire the choice you have made to make an adoption plan for your child and thank you for taking time to learn more about us.

Our life was touched by the miracle of adoption in 2005 when we adopted our son Daniel. No words can fully express the joy we felt when Daniel’s birthmother placed him in our arms and hearts forever. We happily send letters and pictures to Daniel’s birthmother so she can see for herself how her selfless decision created a happy family. We can’t wait to experience that joy again. We truly believe that the greatest gift a parent can give their child is a sibling.

We have known each other for almost 17 years. We met on our local volunteer rescue squad. We were friends first, and would spend hours talking after meetings and emergency calls. We soon realized we were more than friends and decided to start dating, fell in love and the rest is history. We have been happily married for 13 years.

My life with Rich has been great. I can honestly say we balance each other perfectly. Rich is more spontaneous and will think nothing of picking up and going to the lake on a whim. He has taught me that life does not always need to be planned. Rich is kind and laid-back, he never seems to be rattled. He has a terrific dry sense of humor, injecting wit into any conversation. Rich is a wonderful father, he is patient and very hands on. He loves to play and make Daniel laugh. Together they play ball, build Lego and run around outside. Daniel knows the sound of Rich’s truck, and will wait by the door for daddy to come in, then he runs to daddy to give him a big hug, it is so cute to watch. Rich’s job as a building contractor, offers him the flexibility to be home when needed, this will certainly be a plus as the children get older and become involved in after school activities. He will be able to be at every ball game, concert or play.
Kathy is truly a wonderful person. She brings organization and laughter into my life. Her cousin calls her a “renaissance woman” because of all of the activities she enjoys - cooking, baking, scrap-booking, sewing, and quilting. I don’t think there is a craft she hasn’t tried. She made the curtains, bumper pads and quilt for Daniel’s room and I know she can’t wait to make another set for our next child. Of all the activities, I think she enjoys being Daniel’s mommy the best. She is so patient and nurturing toward him giving him guidance, and lots of hugs and kisses. She is the silly one, and does things like dancing, singing and making silly faces just to make him laugh. She and Daniel like to read stories, play in the sandbox, blow bubbles, sing and dance, just to name a few of their activities. It is heartwarming to watch them snuggle in the chair and read stories each night before bed. I know she can’t wait to do all the things she does with Daniel with another child.

Daniel is a very happy, energetic, sweet little boy. He has an infectious giggle that makes us laugh when we hear it, which is often. He is very affectionate and gives the best hugs and kisses. He enjoys trucks, trains, tools and playing with other children. He loves to point out babies that we see and say “hi’ to them, so we know he will make a great big brother.

We live on a dead end street in a small suburban town. We have many kids in our neighborhood. We enjoy taking walks around the neighborhood and Daniel enjoys playing with all of the kids and dogs. Our home is on a wooded lot with a large fenced in back yard, perfect for the swing set and sandbox. We are proud to say that our town has one of the best school systems in the state. Not only do they offer a great education, but a wide variety of extra curricular activities.
Family is very important to us. We both come from close-knit families. Rich has an older sister, and Kathy has a younger brother. Kathy’s brother has a little girl and a little boy and the 3 cousins love to play together. We are very lucky that the all of the grandparents live close by and love to visit and spoil Daniel. The whole family can’t wait to welcome another member into the family.

We make a point of having dinner together as a family every night. It is our time to catch up on the day’s activities and to teach Daniel all about family time. As a family, we love to just hang out or be outside. Kathy’s parents have a home on a nearby lake where we enjoy boating, tubing, swimming, jet-skiing and just hanging out. We spend many weekends there and Daniel really enjoys playing with his cousins. We also enjoy traveling around the USA. We have had a terrific time exploring Alaska and hiking in Glacier National Park. We can’t wait to travel with our children and show them the wonders of the USA.

Thank you for taking time to learn more about us. It is so hard to put everything we are feeling into a letter and a few pictures, but we hope we have given you a good idea. We are very excited about adding to our family and celebrate you for the choice you are making. Please be secure in your decision about your adoptive parents and know that your child will be raised in a family of unconditional love and laughter.

With warm regards,
Kathy and Rich
