Michael & Holly are hopeful adoptive parents from Virginia waiting to adopt a baby.
If you are pregnant and considering placing your child for adoption, please read the following Dear Birthmother Letter.

Hi! The very first thing we want to say is God Bless You - we admire your courage, sacrifice and selfless love. We are Holly and Michael, and we are so thankful for a wonderful birth mother who blessed us with our son, Daniel, in September 2007. No words can every really express the incredible joy we felt when Daniel’s birth mother placed him in our arms. We hope to be blessed again by a very special child who will complete our family and be part of our hearts forever. Thank you so much for considering adoption for your precious child and know that we are praying for you and hope you are receiving all the support you need.
Our Story
As you’ll see throughout this letter, we are a very loving couple who come from very supportive families. We have been married for six years and our relationship grows stronger and our love grows deeper every day. We value family closeness, education and compassion. And we also like to have fun! If we are fortunate enough to be selected to be part of your adoption plan, we want you to know, above all, that the child you give birth to will be raised in a nurturing, loving environment. Most of all, we want them to grow up to be their own person, happy and achieving their dreams.
We actually met online. and we got along fabulously because we both love 80’s music and sports. We really make a great pair since Michael keeps us laughing, spontaneous and secure while Holly nurtures us, keeps us organized and ensures that we are always smiling and enjoying fun family activities. Our marriage is based on love, mutual respect, trust, compassion and faith. Our family is the most important thing to us!
We love taking long walks in the woods near our house, holding hands, we like to travel; we like to play games together and with our friends (Parcheesi, Taboo, card games); we love Baltimore Ravens football games (Daniel already has his own jersey!); when we drive somewhere together, we sing in the car – and Holly sometimes gets the words all mixed up and it is really funny. We are often outside with Daniel, in our backyard or in the parks near our house running around, going on the swings and slides, and playing catch.
Holly (by Michael)
Holly is my soul mate and she loves me for exactly who I am! She is a cheerful, smart, caring, can-do person who is always there to support her family and friends. She is the one who always sends cards and gifts for birthdays and anniversaries. Holly is a successful businesswoman, but looks forward to retiring early to be home with our children and participate in their activities. Holly has been to really exciting places like South Africa on safari, Venezuela and Europe. She is also an active volunteer with church, with RESOLVE – coordinating adoption and infertility support groups, and with Gladney running a buddy program for our area.
Holly likes yoga, pilates, shopping, reading, scrapbooking, and going to amusement parks where she rides massive roller coasters and takes Daniel on the carousels. Holly grew up playing softball and sometimes even goes to Ravens football games with Michael. Holly also enjoys dancing to 80’s tunes, going to the theater and movies, and baking – her cakes and cookies are scrumptious!
I knew that Holly would be a great Mom, but seeing her with Daniel makes my heart grow every day. She is so caring, loving and nurturing. Daniel is always looking for Holly when he is not in the room because she makes funny faces and sounds that make both of them laugh out loud! She reads to Daniel with great voices, does artwork with him and goes to Little Gym classes where she is teaching him to tumble. Holly is always snuggling and kissing Daniel, and they are often outside playing with Daniel’s cars. They have a special bond and Holly cannot wait to share her love with another child.
Michael (by Holly)
Michael makes me feel loved, cherished and cared for every single day. He always gives me kisses and says “I love you” all the time. Michael’s greatest traits are his unfailing ability to be positive and to get along with absolutely everybody. He sees the humor in everyday things, and is downright whimsical. He also will always be there for anyone, no matter what. Michael has two Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree. And he really is a rocket scientist! He is active in our church as a caregiver for others in need.
Michael is a devoted football fan and has season tickets with his Dad for the Baltimore Ravens games. Michael also loves to go to baseball games and he cannot wait to take our children to their first football or baseball game. Michael is a huge airplane and space buff (he used to be a pilot), and enjoys sci-fi (Star Trek, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Battlestar Galactica), fishing and Jimmy Buffet.
Michael is an amazing Dad, and I love seeing him horsing around with Daniel and giving him hugs. He is often throwing balls with Daniel, teaching him important things and telling him elaborate stories. He is so patient with Daniel and makes sure that Daniel always has his undivided attention. Daniel always shouts “Daddy” when Michael comes home from work and gives him a big smile. Michael started a tradition making special pancakes for Daniel and me every Saturday morning. I believe that Daniel is so fun loving and social because Michael has shared his love and appreciation for life with Daniel.
Daniel is a social, happy, active and smart boy. He says “Hi!” to everyone he meets and his smile and bright blue eyes just light up a room and make everyone happy. He definitely keeps us on our toes because he is always on the go and loves to run around outside. He can talk up a storm and is becoming quite the gymnast. Daniel is enchanted with water – pool, bath, ocean, etc. and also with planes, cars and trucks because he is always going to the window and loves riding in the car! Daniel also has friends from Gladney who live close by – they already have a special bond.
Daniel is going to be a fabulous big brother since he is so sweet with and enjoys playing with other children. He shows younger children how to work toys and always looks back or waits for them to make sure they are following in his path and can keep up with him. We both know how important it is to have a sibling and want Daniel to be able to share his love with a little sister or brother.
Vacations
Our favorite place to vacation is the beach. Our children will have the opportunity to build sand castles and see colorful fish and experience many different places. We have been to the Caribbean (Grand Cayman, Nevis and St. John), Bermuda, Hawaii, San Diego and Galveston (Holly’s brother and sister-in-law’s beach house). We love snorkeling and swimming in formation with incredible fish and giant turtles. We also swam with stingrays! What fun it will be to share the beach and the ocean with our children.
We also like to mix it up a bit and travel to many different places. We’ve been to New York City to see the Lion King on Broadway for Holly’s birthday, to the Virginia mountains to hike on the Appalachian trail and enjoy the autumn scenery, and we spent a week in San Francisco (with side trips across the Bay, up to Napa & Sonoma, and down the coast to Big Sur).
Since Holly’s parents live outside Orlando, we go to Disney World where Michael’s inner child comes out. And we already took Daniel to Sea World! Holly’s whole family went to Nantucket together to celebrate her parent’s anniversary. We look forward to taking our children on family trips to places like the Grand Canyon and Europe.
Our Home and Community
We have a large three-story house with four bedrooms and a huge backyard! Our basement is a large play room with plenty of space to run around with friends. We love to have BBQs and play yard games with our friends and family. There’s a nearby private neighborhood park with a kid’s playground and basketball court. There’s also a park with a pond with ducks and fish close by. We have many friends and neighbors with infants or toddlers – lots of playmates for our children.
We live in the suburbs of a major East Coast city which gives us access to museums, aquariums, amusement parks and monuments. We have some of the best schools in the country and our children will have many opportunities to learn and get involved with music, arts, sports, etc. (whatever they enjoy). Our church has a lot of activities for children and a great nursery and pre-school. Our pastor, who married us, also adopted his son from Gladney.
Our Family
We both are fortunate to have very tight-knit families that spend a lot of time together – playing games, going to the beach, and having fun. Holly’s folks are great – Gram and Pop-pop love having us visit them in Florida and cannot wait to bring their grandchildren to Disney World. Holly has one brother, Scott, who is like her best friend, and a sister-in-law, Erica, who has become a sister – they live in Texas, and host Thanksgiving, and we all get to eat deep friend turkey and have a wonderful time. They all love Daniel so much and cannot wait to have a special child join the family.
Michael has a tight-knit family that spends a lot of time together as well. His folks and Valerie and Eric (his sister and brother-in-law) live close by – so we see all of them often. We have lots of Sunday dinners at Michael’s folks’ house. Nana and Grandpa love playing with Daniel, singing to him and babysitting! Michael also has a close extended family who live nearby. Daniel has many second cousins close to his age who he plays with when the family is together. Michael’s twin cousins Juan and Carolos, who are like brothers to him live in Orlando with their young children – we love to visit them. Michael’s whole family is looking forward to welcoming another child with open arms.
Christmas is a special time of year for us. Holly and Michael really get into the Christmas season – Holly bakes cookies and decorates the house, including a color-coordinated tree for the foyer. Ever see the movie “Christmas Vacation?” Michael is Chevy Chase. He has almost 5000 lights up on the shrubs and trees in front of the house plus two moving reindeer. Together with Daniel, we decorate the family tree with all our special ornaments.
We host Christmas a lot and have all of both families over – everyone gets along great. We have a late breakfast, then open presents and everyone pitches in and makes Christmas dinner together. Speaking of gifts, Michael always hides Holly’s presents and leaves rhyming clues all around the house and makes her hunt for her gift! We started a tradition with Daniel and get him a special Christmas book every year. He also has an Advent train and Nativity set so he can learn the true meaning of Christmas. We cannot wait to share the love and fun of Christmas with both our children.
Our Promise
We hope that by looking at our scrapbook, you have gotten a glimpse into who we are, the loving environment that we (and our family) will provide for a child, and how much we will treasure a child. Our child’s adoption story will be an important part of their life. We look forward to meeting you and to sharing this special story with our child. Again, we can’t stress enough how much respect and admiration we have for you and for the choices you have made and are making. We sincerely hope that you are getting all the support you need. This gift of life that you are giving shoes how caring and compassionate you truly are.
We promise to love your child unconditionally and ensure that they grow up feeling safe and secure with the self-confidence and joy needed to have a happy life. We have so much love for each other and feel that our love will be strengthened through loving a child. Without you we would not have the opportunity to build our family and because of your selfless decision, we will cherish you forever.
You will always be in our thoughts and prayers,
Holly & Michael
