Karl & Kathleen are hopeful adoptive parents from Utah waiting to adopt a baby.

If you are pregnant and considering placing your child for adoption, please read the following Dear Birthmother Letter.

Hi! My name is Patricia, but everyone calls me Tricia. You can too. That’s my mommy and daddy in the picture with me. I’ll tell you about them in a minute. One day I told my mommy and daddy that I wanted a baby brother. Then I told them I wanted a baby sister. Then I surprised them by saying I wanted a baby brother and a baby sister. Mommy and daddy told me they wanted that too but we had to wait for someone to choose us. Well, I’ve been waiting for a baby brother or sister for a long time. Maybe if I tell you about me and my family you’ll see that I would be a great big sister, and that my mommy and daddy would be a great mommy and daddy for your baby too.

That's me and mommy in the first picture. Her name is Honey Dear, at least that’s what daddy calls her. You can call her Kathy. Sometimes I call her teacher, like the other kids in preschool do. Mommy has a diploma. She used to teach second grade at an elementary school. Guess what? I have a diploma just like mommy, and I’m going to an elementary school too! Mommy loves to do all sorts of things. She loves to read to me and I love it too. She also makes up funny stories that make me laugh. She likes to make quilts, crochet, draw, cook, teach preschool, and sing to me. She loves taking pictures too. We do lots of fun things together, but I’ll tell you about that later.

There's me and daddy in the next picture. His name is Karl, but mommy calls him a few other names too. You know what? He answers to them all! His name is way too long for me to remember. I'm glad I can just call him daddy. He loves to read and sing to me too. Daddy used to be in the Army. He made a tape with songs and stories on it for me. When he went to Iraq I watched the tape every day. He loves to play soccer and baseball with me. He also likes to play some kind of game called Chess. I don’t know what that is but mommy says there’s a lot of sitting, thinking, and waiting. I don’t think I’d like that game. I love to get up on daddy’s back for horsey rides. He’s better than the horseys at the fair! Daddy also likes to work in the garden, and I help him. My daddy is a teacher too. He teaches Spanish in a junior high school. Education is very important in our family.

Mommy and Daddy tell me lots of stories about when they first met. They said I could share some of them with you. When mommy first saw daddy her heart jumped. How does a heart jump? She knew he was the one she would marry. Daddy knew that mommy was someone special too. He kept staring at her. That’s funny, mommy says it’s not nice to stare at people. I wonder why daddy did that. They loved spending time together. They would do lots of things together, like walking around a duck pond. I didn’t know what a duck pond looked like so they took me to the one they used to walk around. We had a picnic there too. It was fun! I even got to feed the ducks. They also liked going to movies and concerts together. I love going to the movies too. I really liked Curious George; but my favorite part is the popcorn, root beer, and just being with my mommy and daddy.

The third picture is of the day they got married. When daddy proposed to mommy they were eating spaghetti. He went to the freezer to get the ring. Maybe he thought the ring would melt. Daddy got down on his knee. I wonder why he did that? Oh, maybe it's because mommy is shorter than he is. Then daddy asked her if she would marry him. Mommy said she was tickled pink. She doesn’t look pink to me.

Mommy and daddy told me they love kids and always wanted a big family. They were really sad when they learned they couldn’t have babies. But that didn’t last long. After they were married my sister, Amanda, and my brother, Eric, came to live with them. Daddy says it was about a year and a half later. Amanda and Eric used to be my mommy’s niece and nephew until mommy and daddy adopted them when they were 8 and 7. I love my sister and brother but I don’t get to see them a lot because they live far away. Amanda is married now and Eric is a welder for a company. We saw them at Christmas, and you know what, I’m an aunt now and I’m not even 5 yet! Amanda had baby Triston! I love baby Triston. They even let me hold him a few times.
This is me when I graduated from preschool. I am 6 now. I just finished kindergarten. Now I am going into first grade. I loved riding the bus to school too! I can't wait to do it again.
I love to read. My mommy taught me how. She said I can have lots of adventures when I read books. You know what, she was right! My latest adventure was when I became Jigsaw Jones and tried to find the siamese cat. I'm still searching for him right now. I've looked everywhere. I know I'll find him because I'm a great detective.
Mommy and daddy are always teaching me. They say it’s really important to learn lots of new things. I like to learn about things I never knew before. When I grow up I want to be a teacher mom. That’s a mommy and a teacher.

I love to play with my baby dolls. I am practicing for when I get a baby brother or sister. Mommy says I need lots more practice. What’s wrong with carrying my baby dolls around by their legs?

I like to do lots of different things. Mommy says I’m like a pinball bouncing from place to place. I ride my bike, play on my swing set, paint, have “tea” parties, play with my friends, play with my dogs, help mommy cook, and play baseball with daddy. I love to make new friends where ever I go. I can’t wait to meet my new brother or sister. I am so excited! I hope he or she comes soon.

When I was a baby I was adopted too. Jami is my special friend. We write to her and send her pictures of me. Mommy told me that I was in Jami’s tummy before I was born. Jami chose my mommy and daddy and placed me in my mommy’s arms when I was 5 days old. I am so glad she did. I love my mommy and daddy very much. I love Jami too.
I do lots of fun things with my mommy and daddy. My favorite thing to do is play games like Candy land, Jumping Monkeys, Whack-a-mole, and Don’t Break the Ice. Mommy and daddy are really silly when we play games. They make me laugh. We love camping, fishing, traveling, and going to lots of different parks. We also love to go to church together. I love my primary class. I love to learn about Jesus. I love going on bike rides together, and we love to have barbecues and pool parties in the backyard. Mommy and daddy even get in my little pool. But I’m not supposed to tell you that. We also go to visit grandma and grandpa. I love my grandma and grandpa. Grandpa even let me shave his hair off! You can see that picture in the family album. Grandma helps me make gingerbread cookies.

I have lots of aunts and uncles. Mommy has three brothers and three sisters in her family, and daddy has two brothers. Most of them are married so I have lots of cousins. I love being with my cousins.
Well, don’t you think I would make a great big sister? Don’t you think my mommy and daddy would make a great mommy and daddy for your baby? Please choose us. Please, please, please, please, please!
