Michael & Lauraprofile id #19704
Michael & Laura are hopeful adoptive parents from Tennessee waiting to adopt a baby.
If you are pregnant and considering placing your child for adoption, please read the following Dear Birthmother Letter.

“Making the decision to have a child - it's momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart walking around outside your body.” Elizabeth Stone
It takes a lot of courage to let a piece of your heart walk outside of your body. It takes even more courage to trust someone else to love your child as much as you do. We believe our family can provide everything you have ever hoped for your child. We love our children very much, and try to give them all the opportunities life has to offer.
We live in west Tennessee in the suburbs on 3 beautiful acres. Every day we are amazed at how lucky we are to live in this community. Our home is even more than we could have wished for. We live in a residential area with in walking distance of the elementary school and several parks. The people in our community are warm, welcoming, and very friendly. We have lived in the same area for 10 years now and just can’t imagine living anywhere else.
Living on 3 acres, even though we are in a residential area, allows us to have many fun and exciting experiences that most families don’t get to have. We have chickens, and two miniature donkeys, 2 dogs, and a cat. It is always fun to see people slow down as they drive past our yard amazed at what they are seeing. Having such unusual pets has allowed us to make friends with people we might not have met otherwise and to share our fun with others.
Our fairy tale life together began 11 years ago. It was love at first sight and in less than a year we were married. We are extremely committed to one another and even though we have a lot of different interests, our differences blend into a wonderful marriage. We like to try new things and travel as much as we can. There is always a new project on the horizon that teaches us a new skill or brings us closer together.
When we started our life together, we never could have imagined how blessed our life would be. 3 wonderful children and 2 birth families have joined our family through adoption and we love them very much. Our twins, Skye and Sage, joined our family in 2002, and Ryan joined us in 2005. Both adoptions are open and we cherish our relationships with their extended families. We try to visit with them as often as we can and send a lot of pictures and emails.
Family unity is very important to us. We spend a lot of time together and do almost everything together as a family. Unique experiences are always around the corner and we look for ways to bring variety and excitement to everything we do. Everything in life is a learning experience, and we try to capitalize on the opportunities presented to us. Education is very important to us, and we will make sure our children have the best education possible, and provide a way for them to go to college. We can assure you that we will do all that we can to provide a safe, supportive, and loving environment for your child to grow. The responsibility of being a family is one that we cherish.
If you would like to learn more about us, please feel free to contact us. We will be happy to provide any information you might need to help you make this difficult decision. Whatever decision you make, may God bless you and your child with a full, healthy, and happy life.
About Us
Our Story
Our marriage is a perfect love story. We saw each other for the first time and instantly fell in love. Ten months later we were married. Our marriage is strong and happy and we love each other very much. We support one another and share the same goals. Our interests are different, but that is what makes our marriage work so well. We challenge each other to try new things, which always provides us with great new experiences. The love we have for each other is only surpassed by the love we have for our children. We cherish every second with them and look forward to adding to our family.
Michael’s thoughts on Laura
Laura has lived in several states but considers Tennessee home. She has one sister who has 3 boys and a girl and live in Louisiana. We love to go visit them and they often come here. Several times a year the family meets at Laura’s parents’ house just 30 minutes away from us. They have over 140 acres with cattle and goats. Laura wasn’t raised on a farm, she was actually a city girl, but when her parents moved to TN they became interested in farming. Being able to ride on tractors, see the cows, play in the hay, and fishing in the lake provides us with a lot of family fun.
Laura graduated from the University of Memphis with a Bachelors Degree in Paralegal Studies. She worked with several prestigious law firms in the area as a paralegal before we adopted Skye and Sage. Now she enjoys being a stay at home mom. She has always dreamed of being a mother. She is extremely good with the kids and provides a lot of great activities for them to do. She has taught them how to care for our animals and it is neat to see them play with all of their pets. Laura also likes taking the kids to the farm, the zoo, playing games, reading stories, and taking lots of pictures.
Laura’s thoughts on Michael
Michael is the second oldest of 11 children. He has 5 brothers, 5 sisters, and 21 nieces and nephews with more on the way. His family is one of the best around! Though the family is spread from coast to coast, we try to get together once a year. In Michael’s family, you instantly feel welcomed and loved. Our children fit right in and receive a lot of extra adoring attention, which they love.
Michael is a man of many talents. He loves to learn and has earned a Bachelors Degree in Sociology and a Masters Degree in Business. His dream is to earn a Doctorate degree in Organizational Development. He can speak Portuguese and conversational Spanish. Michael is great with people and works as a Human Resources Manager, providing a comfortable lifestyle for our family. Michael is kind, patient, and a natural leader and teacher. All of this makes him an excellent father. Our kids adore their father, and rightly so.
Our Children
Our Children Skye and Sage are 6 year old twins. Skye is older by 2 minutes. She is sweet, loving, and doesn’t know a stranger. She is very friendly and always brings a smile to everyone she meets. Sage is more laid back and reserved, but enjoys being silly. He is all boy, and enjoys ATVs , tractors and wrestling with Daddy, Grandpa, or his brother. Ryan, 3, is a very loving and affectionate boy who is also very independent. He loves to hug his sister, wrestle with his brother, and chase after our chickens.
Spending time with our children is important to us. We do almost everything together as a family. The kids love to mow the lawn with Daddy and help Mommy with the chickens and donkeys. Having chickens means that we get to go on an egg hunt every day. The excitement of finding eggs never gets old. The kids even helped us build our chicken coop, and they took great pride in helping. In the fall we have fun collecting our pecans and in the spring and summer the kids enjoy digging in the garden. It brings us great joy to teach our kids and to watch them grow. We have many hopes and dreams for our children, and are working very hard to make them come to pass.
Our Hobbies
Michael’s hobbies
I enjoy reading. My personal reading choices are topics on improving leadership skills and personal development. I enjoy drawing correlations between current leadership theories and how they relate to history. Eventually, I would like to write and publish a book of my own. I especially enjoy snuggling up with the kids and reading their favorite books to them. At bedtime, I love to tell the kids fairy tale stories where the kids play the heroes. I also like going out to the grandparent’s farm, helping them with what they need, and driving the tractors with the kids. I enjoy traveling and seeing the country, new cities, and meeting new people. I like to snow ski, water ski, camping and most other outdoor activities. If I need to relax and escape from the day, a good SciFi adventure or action movie always puts the world right again.
Laura’s hobbies
I like to try new things and dabble in just about everything. I love to cook and collect all the recipes and cook books I can get my hands on. I love quilting and sewing; I’m not an expert, but with a good pattern, I can make just about anything. I take a lot of pictures and have dreams of scrapbooks but I haven’t put any together yet, though I have them all planned out. My favorite hobbies right now are my animals. I LOVE my chickens and donkeys! The donkeys love to get hugs and attention. In another year, the kids will be able to ride them and then we will teach the donkeys to pull us in a cart. Something fun and new is always around the corner. Most of all, I like to take care of my family. Reading to the kids and singing their favorite songs is a lot of fun. I can also play the flute and am able to play a few hymns on the piano.
