Brittan & Darcy are hopeful adoptive parents from Arizona waiting to adopt a baby.

If you are pregnant and considering placing your child for adoption, please read the following Dear Birthmother Letter.

Here We Are! Hi there! Thank you so much for checking out our profile. We hope you can get to know us better in these few short paragraphs.

Why do we want to adopt? We always knew we wanted to have a family. We endured several years of fertility treatments, and came to realize that it's more important that we have a family, not necessarily conceive one. Families come in all shapes and sizes, and we believe that Heavenly Father will find a way to bring us all together. We want our family to grow and share the love we have for each other.
We met in Mesa, AZ through a mutual friend who thought that Darcy needed to "get out more". She was invited to a party as one of only two girls in a room full of guys! The odds were pretty good she'd score at least one phone number, and luckily one of those was Brittan's. We had our first date two weeks later, and that was the last first date we ever had. It seemed to happen pretty fast, but we knew that life was just more wonderful when we were together. We were married a year later.
We adopted our son when he was born in the summer of 2004, and what a beautiful little boy he is! He is so happy and social, and people comment all the time on his cute smile. He is sweet and stubborn, loving and impatient, all the things a little boy should be. We always tell ourselves that we can't remember what life was like before he came along. We can't wait for that blessing again with another child added to our family. And Porter can't wait to have a sibling!

Porter has sleepovers at Grandma and Grandpa's house about 20 minutes away, and he loves helping Grandma make cookies and bread. Almost every night we walk down to the park near our house and meet up with our neighbors and their kids--the grown-ups get to talk and the kids get to play! Porter never wants to go home!
As a family, we like to go camping, hiking, and biking. Our dog is pretty entertaining, too, and we take him out for walks and to play in the park. We like to travel and visit our family members in different places, and we take frequent vacations to Idaho, Utah, and San Diego. We play at the beach, chasing the waves, and picking up as many seashells as we can. Porter loves to go swimming and ride his bike, he loves to go "on the trail" with Daddy, and is a great helper in the kitchen and the garage! He loves to crack the eggs into the cookie batter, or get a wrench and go to work on the car. :)
About Brittan: I love anything to do with the outdoors: hiking, camping, mountain biking, off-road driving, you name it. I enjoy working on my Toyota and building it up for 4-wheeling. I read History and political books, go swimming for exercise, and I love going out on the trail and camping! I really love the time I spend with my family.

I come from a family of six children, two sisters and three other brothers. My grandmother is Australian, and has lots of funny traditional sayings like, "Golly whiskers!". My father was blind, and then passed away when I was 15 years old. This experience shaped a lot of my feelings about being a father, and I am totally dedicated to being there for my son as he grows up. I was able to spend a lot of time outdoors as a lifeguard and a river-rafting guide, and I love the Scouting experiences I had. After serving an LDS mission in Tempe, AZ, I moved around a lot until I met my wonderful wife and settled down. I was involved in the mortgage industry for awhile, until I completed a career change into engineering. I have a lot of interests, so I don't plan to sit still very long!

From Darcy: There is one word I often think of to describe my husband: ambitious. Although the word "goofy" could be a close second! He loves to learn new things, and often learns things by just diving in and doing it. His knowledge about the scriptures constantly amazes me! He is outgoing, loves to have fun, and makes friendships easily. He loves us, is a great provider for us, and he is a great dad to our son. He loves to play and have fun with him.
About Darcy: I enjoy photography and have gotten good use out of my camera since Porter came along! I often joke that no one will know I existed because I'm never in any pictures--I'm always the one taking them! Before I became a mom full-time, I worked as a training specialist at a large university and I really value education. I also volunteer with a dog-rescue group and love animals. I enjoy cooking and reading, and I go out with Brittan on his "less-adventurous" outdoor activities. (Does shopping count as a hobby, too?) :)

I'm the oldest of three kids. We were a close family growing up, spending time fishing, hiking, camping, and taking frequent vacations to San Diego to visit family. I have two younger brothers, and Brittan often says that my brothers and I speak in a "code language" that reflects all the inside jokes we have together. My parents divorced when I was 19 years old, and while that was difficult, time has brought some good changes to our family.
I met Britt before my Junior year in college, and finished my B.A. in Education during our first year of marriage. After working awhile in various educational fields, I decided to get my Masters Degree in Adult Learning and Distance Education, and that was such a great accomplishment for me. Now I love being a mom and being a part of all the things that our son is learning everyday.

From Brittan: My wife is cheerful, she loves to laugh, she's bright, and has a terrific sense of humor. Truly, she is one of the funniest people I know! She is intuitive and sensitive. She has a love of learning, and is an excellent writer. She is warm and caring, and always roots for the underdog. She works hard to make sure we have a fun, peaceful, and loving home, and she is such a wonderful mom to Porter.
Our Family We know that you're probably looking at many families on this website, and everyone probably looks wonderful! We can't imagine how difficult this decision must be, and we are willing to answer any other questions you might have. We love each other very much and we try hard to be good examples to our son, teaching him about being kind to everyone, being thankful for our blessings, and taking care of our eternal family. We love to see him learning and growing, and it's so important to us to be the main source of what he learns. Our son knows that we love him no matter what, and we tell him how much we love him everyday. Every night we play the "blowing kisses" game where we each take a turn blowing a kiss to each other and then catching the kiss. After we catch it, Mommy will smooch her hand holding the kiss, and Porter pretends to eat his kiss!

We know that children are a great blessing to us. Being close to Porter's birthmother, we understand that everyone has different needs. We communicate with her frequently through email, sharing pictures and letters, and we love her so much for the sacrifice she made for our little boy. She and her family are truly wonderful, and she has blessed our family so much. We are willing to work with you to make sure that everyone is happy and satisfied with our relationship. We look forward to sharing pictures, letters, emails, whatever will be helpful for you and your family.

Again, thank you for checking out our profile. We look forward to talking with you!

Love,
Brittan, Darcy, and Porter
