Scott & Maureen are hopeful adoptive parents from Illinois waiting to adopt a baby.

If you are pregnant and considering placing your child for adoption, please read the following Dear Birthmother Letter.

Maureen and Scott We are Maureen and Scott. We are hoping and praying to have a child enter our lives through adoption. We know this cannot have been an easy decision for you. We respect and admire your strength and bravery. After several miscarriages and failed in vitro attempts, we were unable to have a child. Our experiences have brought us closer and stronger as a couple. We hope to fulfill our dream of having a child through adoption.

How We Met

Scott came to Boston for a wedding in June of 2003. We met the morning of the wedding. His cousin was the groom and I was one of the maids of honor. We talked for a while about baseball and cats. I remember thinking to myself he needs a haircut, but he is cute! He told me later that he was thinking, “She is really nice”. Wow! After the wedding ceremony, we chatted and danced and we both felt something was there. The problem was he lived in Illinois and I lived in Massachusetts. So began our long distance courtship. We emailed each other, sent notes, and thank goodness for cell phones. Every couple of months one of us would fly in for a visit. By December, we realized that we both had very deep feelings for each other and that we were in love. Two days before New Years, he “popped the question.” He was so nervous and thought I would say no. But my answer was yes, and the rest is history.

As A Couple
We have been married for over three years. As a couple, our experiences have helped us grow. Scott’s sweetness and sense of humor and Maureen’s strength and loving patience gives us a perfect blend to be there for each other. Sometimes we can be a silly and goofy. It especially helps when one us has had a bad day. We both love to travel and experience new things. Whether it’s a day trip or a week away, we always make the most of it.
Not long ago, we bought a new home. We chose this house with a child in mind. There are many children in the neighborhood and a park very close to our home. Before we were married, we each had a cat. They didn’t like each other at first but now are the best of buds. They are a little shy at first, but once they get to know you they will be right by your side. Their names are Trapper and Roscoe.

Scott’s thoughts on Maureen

Maureen is a loving and caring person. She loves animals and going to movies. She enjoys cooking, crafts, and musicals. She also likes to sing. On holidays, she loves to decorate the house and makes each one very special. Maureen is always willing to help someone in need. With her loving gentle patience, I know she will make a great Mom.

Maureen’s thoughts on Scott

Scott is a sweet and gentle loving man. He has a wonderful sense of humor with loving patience. He is very passionate about the things he likes. His hobbies are sports, transit systems and The Simpsons. His favorite teams are the Cubs and the Bears. He even shows support for the Boston area teams. He collects maps of transit systems from other cities, sports memorabilia, and die-cast metal cars. He looks forward to the day when he takes our child on their first train ride or to a Cubs game.

Family and Friends
Both of our families are very important to us. Our parents raised both of us with values that family and faith are important parts of life. We have different religions (Scott was raised Jewish and Maureen was raised Catholic). However, we believe that it is important to pass on both family traditions and customs.

Maureen comes from a large family. She has four brothers, 3 sister in-laws, a niece, and two nephews. They all live on the East Coast. Even though we cannot be together for all of the holidays, we call each other and share our day. Maureen’s parents have passed away and even though we miss them, we can’t help but believe they are watching us from above.

Scott’s parents live here in Illinois and are very loving and giving. Scott has one brother, a sister in-law, and a two-year-old nephew. We both have lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Both families eagerly wait for the day when a new member joins the family. We are blessed with having very special friends, who have been supportive and helpful and hope one day soon that there will be a new member to our family.

Closing Thoughts Closing Thoughts

If you decide to choose us to raise your child, we promise your child will be surrounded by lots of love, laughter, and values. He/she will know how special and courageous you are, and that adoption is a wonderful and selfless act. We hope to work with you for a level of openness that is comfortable for all. We know that this is not an easy time for you. We thank you for reading our letter and maybe we will get to meet you. Hopefully this letter gives you an idea about who we are. We would be honored to raise your child.

Take care,

Maureen and Scott
