John & Carmen are hopeful adoptive parents from North Carolina waiting to adopt a baby.

If you are pregnant and considering placing your child for adoption, please read the following Dear Birthmother Letter.

To Our Dear Birthmother Dear Birthparents,
We are honored that you are considering us as adoptive parents for your child. We know you must have a lot of strength and love in order to make such an important decision as adoption. We understand this can be overwhelming and we admire your courage and unselfishness. We would like to tell you how grateful we are that you have decided to allow us the honor and privilege of being parents. We sincerely hope you know what a blessing you are allowing our family to receive. We have always looked forward to being parents and sharing the special moments we had as children with our own child. So far in our marriage we have been unsuccessful in our attempts to become pregnant. As a family we have chosen to avoid infertility treatments and other medical procedures because we feel that adoption is right for our family.
About Us! Now, we would like to take this opportunity to share with you a little bit about our family and ourselves. We are John and Carmen and we have been married for 8 years. Carmen and I met in middle school and eventually became high school sweethearts! Somehow- through all the high school drama, ball games, teachers, parents, friends, bad hair days, and Friday night movies- we made it through and had gained an overwhelming respect and love for each other.
After High School, John went on a two-year mission in Chile for our church while Carmen continued with her college education. We kept in touch during those two years and not long after he returned home, we were married! We still live in the same small (but, rapidly growing) town that happens to be where Carmen was born and raised. So, as you can imagine, we have LOTS of family around us. Carmen is the oldest of 3 children (two brothers Jared, 27 and Jordan, 19) and 15 grandchildren- the family says she was spoiled, though if you were to ask Carmen she would deny it! We are still lucky enough to have 2 of Carmen’s grandparents still with the family, Grandma Naomi and Papa Calvin. Carmen’s family and extended family are very close, not a week goes by that we don’t get together with a family member for one reason or another. Her family celebrates all of the holidays together and everyone gets a birthday party just for them (with the exception of the twins)! We take annual summer beach trips with the family, Thanksgiving get-a-ways, and every four years or so- MICKEY MOUSE calls our name and off to Disney World we go!
about Carmen (told by John) Carmen earned her degree in Elementary Education and works as a 3rd grade teacher at a local public school. She loves teaching and has a ball with her students. Our plans are for Carmen to stay at home with our children until they are ready for school, and then she may go back into the classroom herself to continue teaching. Carmen is a people-person and enjoys traveling to new places, shopping for herself (and anyone who happens to be with her), and talking to just about anyone about anything. You could say she is the family social bug. She has a small background in music from playing the clarinet for 6 years and taking piano lessons as a child. Carmen can also display her talents by creating a unique craft or two and whipping-up a sweet dessert. She has recently convinced me to take shag dancing lessons with her and we have a blast on the dance floor! Carmen is active in church and has enjoyed her positions working with the youth and young children.
about John (told by Carmen) Now, let me introduce you to my husband, John, who is the exact opposite of myself when it comes to birth order- he is Mama’s Baby, the youngest of eight! John spent most of his childhood following his older brothers and sisters around the quaint Virginia neighborhood. John grew up in a large yet very loving family. Even though today his family is spread out all over the U.S., John has remained close to his brothers and sisters, and visits them as often as possible. He has 24 nieces and nephews and is excited about adding another child to this growing family.
John is currently working as an insurance consultant in a local agency and has been successful in his endeavors. He enjoys anything that has to do with movies and makes me watch them all. His most recent obsessions are Star Wars, Super Heroes, and collecting the Seinfeld episodes on DVD. (His secret dream is to one day be a movie director- watch out Steven Spielberg!) John, being a kid at heart, looks forward to playing basketball on Wednesday nights at the church with the boys! He also likes to read, go camping, fishing, hiking, and spending time with his family. John has a fun-loving spirit and likes to joke around, there is never a dull moment around our house. He is a great brother-in-law to my two younger brothers and had won his way into my family from the first day. John is a loving, faithful and caring husband that is the provider and example I can count on. John is a hard worker with amazing talent and I am so lucky to be able to call him MY husband.

Once again we would like to let you know how grateful we are for this opportunity and how we admire your strength and courage. We are anxious and ready to invite a new child into our fun-loving family. Trust and honesty are very important to us and we will always be open with our child about how they became part of our family. Please know that he or she will grow up in a house filled with warmth and laughter. We believe in raising children to be independent thinkers with good moral character and self-esteem. We offer a life full of fun, adventure, holiday traditions, family vacations and a good education. We already have a special place in our hearts for this child!

With Sincerity and Respect,
John & Carmen
