We've Adopted a Baby!
Dear Birthparent...
We have great respect and gratitude for you—for your courage and selfless love. We are thankful for the wonderful and courageous birthmother who blessed us with our son, Samuel. Thank you for considering adoption for your child and for taking time to get to know us.

What do I love about Michelle?
From the first time I saw her, on a summer Sunday evening, I’ve loved Michelle’s beautiful EYES. After a few months of dating, and now nine years of marriage, I have found many more things to love and enjoy.
Michelle was made for FRIENDSHIP. She senses what others need and feel, and will do whatever she can for the people she loves. Part of her gift for friendship is her laugh - it’s cheerful and contagious. She takes sincere satisfaction in celebrating the achievements of others, a real testament to her selflessness.
She has great DETERMINATION. She is driven to accomplish things, not because she’s competitive with other people, she just wants to get good things done.
Michelle has a very strong sense of ADVENTURE. She has hiked several of the local mountains (some are nearly 12,000 feet high) and enjoys many outdoor activities. Even now, the desire to learn new things and to explore continues.
Michelle has great FAITH. She is a student and disciple of Christ, and a great example to me in many ways. She knows and cherishes the holy scriptures, and tries to apply them in daily decisions. She loves being a mother, and I know that she sincerely wants to do the Lord’s will.

About Stan
I always wanted to marry my best friend, someone with similar interests so we could understand each other and find joy in the same things. Stan is the answer to that prayer.
He is CREATIVE and CURIOUS. He plays the piano very well—I love music and could listen to him for hours. I enjoy gardening and working in the yard—he enjoys fixing sprinklers and doing other home improvement projects. He loves outdoor photography—I love hiking and exploring scenic places. I appreciate using a computer to help me organize and accomplish things—he learns the new programs and passes along the good tricks. He makes learning fun and easy for anyone—I enjoy learning and teaching, especially children and teenagers.
Stan puts our FAMILY first. He is a thoughtful, kind husband and father. His schooling and career decisions have always been made based on what would both provide for our family and allow him to be home each night. We love this daily time together. Sam is ecstatic when he hears Daddy open the door and say “I’m home!” Stan is a ‘hands on’ dad—having Sam work along with him at home, building Lego creations, or going to an airport or museum to experience airplanes and flying. Sam even has a little desk in Stan’s home office so they can draw, color & study together. Most nights Stan takes Sam upstairs for bedtime stories & songs. It’s some of their favorite time together.
Stan is HARD WORKING and HELPFUL, both in his profession and in our home. His talents range from the worlds of technology and finance to music and culinary arts. He balances work and play very well.

About Sam
Samuel is everything you’d expect in a little boy. He’s always CURIOUS, often hungry, quite talkative and never idle. He learns quickly and focuses intently on new challenges.
He loves books, reading and being read to. Anytime we have cardboard boxes around, Sam turns them into tunnels, houses, caves and robots.
Whenever we go OUTSIDE, Samuel likes to get out shovels and scoops and go to work in the flower beds. If there’s a dirty job being done, he wants his share of the dirt, too! And when it’s all done, cooling off in the sprinklers makes for a good finish.
Our Family...
Life in Our Home
We’re happiest at home together. It’s our HAVEN. Between the books on the shelves and the toys, balls and games in the cupboards, there is always something to learn or do. We enjoy being in the kitchen together, working on meals or goodies. Sam is right there with us - he thinks he’s the real chef. Cooking has been one of our favorite pastimes as a couple from the time we started dating because it gives us time to talk, and something yummy when we’re finished. Over breakfast we read scriptures aloud as a way to prepare for the day.
As much as we like the predictability of our daily ROUTINES, we also enjoy going on SPONTANEOUS road trips to fun places or to see family. Each night we clean up the house together, then have family prayer before Stan takes Sam upstairs for bedtime stories and songs (Sam’s favorite songs are from musicals like Mary Poppins, The Music Man, and My Fair Lady). Yardwork and house projects are family affairs; Sam loves going to Home Depot and working with garden tools—hey, it’s an excuse to get dirty.
Our House & Neighborhood
Our home has plenty of room for family gatherings and play time with cousins. Inside the house it’s light and cheery and outside we have a large yard with lots of grass, rocks, flower beds, and a vegetable garden.
We live just below the MOUNTAINS; within thirty minutes to an hour we can be up a canyon for a hike, a drive, a camp-out or skiing in the winter. When the weather conditions don’t let us go camping outside, we set up a tent in the living room, get out the sleeping bags and flashlights, and “camp” inside.
In our small cul-de-sac of eight families and 22 children, there are seven other adopted children of differing ages from three other families. Having not just common yards but common family experiences has made for great friendships between couples and children alike.
Our Traditions
Everyone has their traditions...we live close to much of our extended FAMILY, and often spend holidays together for dinners, backyard barbeques, etc. We enjoy the usual family traditions on holidays and other special times, but we also like the more frequent traditions of outings, at-home movie nights (with lots of popcorn and ice cream) and regular DATES.
MUSIC is a big part of our lives; we both play the piano and enjoy singing. All of us enjoy READING, whether individually or together (as you can see from the photo, Sam got started early!). !at love of reading is part of our love for EDUCATION, which for us is part of the fun of living!
Our most treasured traditions revolve around our FAITH. Those traditions—weekly church services, celebrations of Christmas and Easter, sacred music, regular prayer and scripture study—are important because they are the way we seek the Lord’s guidance and mercy. They are the source of wisdom and strength we rely on to direct our family. They help us learn how to love each other better.
In Conclusion...
Because you are reading these pages, and probably many others like them, we know how much your baby means to you—and that is a truly humbling thought for us. We hope that these comments and pictures have helped you get a feeling for our family, and what the blessing of adoption—the blessing of family—means to us. We admire you for your selfless determination, and pray for the blessing of the Lord to be with you as you give the gift of life to one of His children.
Yours with LOVE and GRATITUDE,
Stan&Michelle
