Ryan & Amy are hopeful adoptive parents from Colorado waiting to adopt a baby.
If you are pregnant and considering placing your child for adoption, please read the following Dear Birthmother Letter.

Our Story
We began dating when were both students in college. Our first meeting involved Ryan becoming the victim of a long-running practical joke that Amy and her roommates played on many unsuspecting visitors. Little did she know that Ryan had a soft spot in his heart for a woman with a sense of humor. We were married in August of 1997, while we were both still in school. Those first years of our marriage were simple and fun. We didn't have much, but we built a great foundation by spending lots of time together. We both finished our education, Ryan with a Master’s degree in Tax, and Amy with a Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance (check out the recording of her in the Media section). Ryan currently works as a tax accountant for a regional accounting firm, and Amy is a private voice teacher, working out of our home. She has also had the opportunity to work as an elementary music teacher for three years, and continues to serve as a music director at church. Ryan has also volunteered teaching high-school students in early-morning religious education classes, called Seminary. We both value education and strive to be lifelong learners. Currently, Amy is taking private swimming and golf lessons, and Ryan is learning to play racquetball.
Our Family
Amy was raised by her parents in a home with 6 children--4 boys and 2 girls. With the busy household, she learned to be independent and self-motivated. However, her parents were great at spending individual time with each child. Her parents were always encouraging her to develop her talents, and told her she could do anything she wanted. Ryan is the third of six children--4 boys and 2 girls. In the small town in Alberta, Canada where he was raised, he has many memories of spending time outside with his brother and their friends playing sports, such as basketball, football, and street hockey. While growing up, his parents instilled in him the value of hard work through many tried and true means, like making him practice the piano and work in the garden. We were both raised attending the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, or the Mormons, and we are still very active members. The most important thing we both learned from our parents, is that we want to raise our children in a home where love is strong, and the principles of Jesus Christ are taught. Our families have been a huge source of comfort and support to us through the years of our marriage, especially during the ups and downs of trying have children. Both sides of our family are anticipating the day when they will welcome a new adopted grandchild into the family. We especially love spending time with our adorable nieces and nephews. Some of the cutest words we've ever heard are "Uncle Ryan," and "Aunt Amy." Recently, one 6-year-old niece told Amy, "Don't give up on your adoption plan. I think it's going to work."
What Makes Us Happy!
We are each other's best friends, and there's no one else we'd rather spend time with. We both play the piano and enjoy making music together. Amy is always directing singing groups and choirs at church, and helping her students with performances and auditions. Music is also a big part of Ryan's life, and he spends some time almost everyday playing the piano and singing. He always supports Amy by singing in her church choirs and attending her students' voice recitals and high school musicals. Our love for music has been a unifying force in our home and has brought us much joy and peace. We want our children to grow up in a home where music is valued and taught. Also, we both like to entertain and have friends over to our home. Amy likes to do the cooking and Ryan is a proud supporter of desserts! At one Christmas party, amidst the chaos of all our friends’ children, we stopped to think how exciting it was to have the sounds of children in our home for the holidays. During the summer, we like to spend time outdoors hiking in the mountains around our home. We also enjoy traveling and have been blessed to see many beautiful places. Amy’s mother taught her to sew when she was 10-years old, and it has become a lifelong passion. It’s a great activity for unwinding on a snowy day. She likes to make a lot of her own clothing and window treatments for our house. As embarrassing as it is to admit, she also LOVES to shop! But, she keeps good track of her finances and is always looking for a great deal. Ryan is a sports fanatic and enjoys playing sports, watching sports on TV, and attending games. Thank goodness he’s always helpful by folding laundry during those long afternoon football games on TV. He also likes to do crossword puzzles and other mind games.
