Mark & Elizabeth are hopeful adoptive parents from Maryland waiting to adopt a baby.
If you are pregnant and considering placing your child for adoption, please read the following Dear Birthmother Letter.

Dear Friend,
Thank you for taking the time to get to know us a little better. We recognize and honor the emotion and thoughts that have led to this moment. We extend our hope for your continued health and well-being through this process. Our prayers are for your comfort and peace at this time.
We met in the millennial year 2000. Elizabeth was introduced to Mark through one of her patients who thought they might hit it off. Yes, we seemed to have the services of a wise matchmaker. We actually talked on the phone, getting to know each other first for a few months, as Mark was living in Washington D.C. at the time and Elizabeth was in Salt Lake City. We were married less than a year later which eased the burden of transcontinental flights.
We have always felt regardless of our ability to have children on our own that we would adopt children one day and now we have absolute faith that is our path. I (Elizabeth) have a brother who is adopted and many years ago and also witnessed my younger brother participate in the adoptive process on behalf of his son, Jacob. So we have come to know the joy and the pain and the hope and the miracle that surrounds this amazing journey from many perspectives.
About Elizabeth
As a brief introduction, I climb mountains and run marathons for fun and this effort pretty much extends to other areas of my life. I work hard and I am very devoted to my family and friends.
My educational background is though nursing and I have been a Nurse Practitioner for 10 years. For nearly all of these years I have worked in Cardiology. Currently I direct a consult service for a major academic hospital.
I recently completed a second Master's degree in Applied Healing Arts. This is my passion and I was excited a few years ago when the opportunity was presented to pursue this dream. I am interested in bio-energetic fields and therapies and application of these theories to the current study of medicine to expand the capacity to heal the body. I assisted with the development of a training program for health care professionals in integrative medicine and currently teach and mentor in this course.
I love to be outdoors, hiking, camping, running trails, and kayaking are among my favorite outdoor activities. I believe S'mores and campfires are proof that God loves us. I am also a fairly good first mate for Mark's sailing adventures. I love to travel and I have had the wonderful opportunity to travel to many different parts of the world. One of my most favorite memories was spending two weeks in New Zealand and studying with a Maori healer.
My most cherished memories and greatest joy is spending time with my family. Mark and I have twelve nieces and nephew and are proud to tell you that we have been named the favorite aunt and uncle. Aunt Liz bakes chocolate chip cookies and fixes everyone's boo-boos and Uncle Mark makes everyone laugh. We are also good at chalk art, Dutch-oven cooking, story-telling, and impromptu sock puppet shows.
I think most people come to the realization that they want to be a parent at some point in their lives. I can wholeheartedly tell you it has been the design since the beginning of my existence to be mother; there has never been a time when I could not imagine having children of my own. Every decision I have made has been in preparation for my children.
About Mark
I am the 3rd of 4 children growing up in the suburbs of a mid-level city. Throughout childhood, I embraced a love of sports, participated in scouting and had the value of hard work instilled in me at a young age. Some of my greatest memories were playing high school football and I expanded this passion in later years by officiating in many different sports in local and collegiate games.
I obtained my undergraduate degree in Law and Constitutional Studies and this led to the opportunity of serving an internship in the United States Senate. This experience expanded into a position serving on the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee for several years and working as a legislative assistant to a U.S. Senator.
My love of the law continued to expand and spark an earlier dream to attend law school. I graduated several years ago and presently work as a prosecuting attorney for the state.
I serve as the Scout Master in our church and the weeks are spent in the pursuit of merit badges. My hobbies are harnessing the wind on a sailboat and learning the ancient art of sailing. My favorite reading genre is American history and I heartily embrace the great American pastime of watching football and as a fan participant of the Naval Academy football team.
Spending time with family and nieces and nephews is the prime subject of our vacation time. My most recent thoughts are for design and construct of a nursery for children of our own and to add to the joy of our family.
Our Hope
As we have had the gift of time and planning, we are in a place of flexibility in our lives to create time and space as devoted parents.
Should you wish, we are open to maintaining a relationship with you. We know the importance of this communication.
Our sole consideration is that our children have space and opportunity to grow, create, play, and discover their unique and precious spiritual gifts. Honor, service, education, honesty, and compassion are our foremost values. This is our commitment as parents with an eternal promise to love, protect, teach, and enrich the lives of our children.
We look forward to hearing from you. Our prayers are with you at this time.
With Love,
Elizabeth and Mark
