Darian & Katy are hopeful adoptive parents from North Carolina waiting to adopt a baby.

This year we will be celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary. This is hard for us to believe as time has flown by! We knew that we had something special together from the start. Darian grew up on a family farm in central Illinois and Katy grew up in the suburbs of New York City. While our childhoods were very different we have a lot in common. We’re active, both physically and socially. We often find ways to combine the two by taking weekend camping trips with friends to the mountains or getting folks together on a sunny afternoon for a bike ride. We can’t wait to go on camping trips with our child and sing together as we hike along the trail.

Katy Talks About Darian
“Darian is very playful. I love watching him with kids and listening to them laugh together. Darian is kind, sensitive, and keenly aware of other people’s feelings. He is also incredibly smart and handy, able to fix just about anything. Whether he’s working on a new lesson plan or helping a friend re-roof their house, Darian’s dedication is impressive. I love visiting him at school where you often hear kids yell out, ‘Hi, Mr. Cork!’ as he walks down the halls. You can tell that they like him, and that Darian is good at what he does. I can’t wait to see him share his passion for learning with our child.”

Darian Talks About Katy
“Katy is a true people-person. She talks easily with others, whether she has known them for years or they just met. Children love her and often ask her to play games or to read a book. When she’s with kids her eyes smile and children giggle. Like everyone else, I love spending time with her, especially the moments we share with children. I'm looking forward to seeing her curl up with our child on the couch and listening to them read together. ”

Community We live in a friendly neighborhood in Pittsboro, NC, close to college towns, our state capital, the mountains and the beach. As you turn into our wooded cul-de-sac the first thing you see is kids everywhere—riding bikes, playing basketball or drawing on the road with chalk. Our child will have plenty of playmates just at the top of our driveway! We love to cook for neighbors and friends and often have people over for dinner. We enjoy sitting around the table, hearing each others' stories and laughing together. On special occasions we top off the evening by making homemade ice cream, a process the kids love to join in on.

Family Katy’s parents live nearby, and are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their first grandchild. Katy’s mom is looking forward to taking our child to the local farmer’s market, and together, picking out beautiful fresh vegetables to take home and prepare for dinner. When Katy’s family gets together we’re guaranteed a fabulous meal filled with lively conversation.

Darian comes from a large mid-western family. While Darian was growing up he worked the farm with his brother and sisters; milking cows and planting soy beans. The cousins can’t wait to teach our child how to collect fresh eggs from the chickens during our visits to the family farm. Darian’s family also has a great love for games and is made up of some of the most passionate card players you’ll ever meet!

Careers Katy works at the university, helping provide services to young children with disabilities and their families. She jumps at the chance to bring her nieces to work, who often end up leaving with arm-loads of gifts from Katy's co-workers. Darian teaches science at our local high school and loves working with students and helping them learn. He has summers off and is looking forward to spending that time with our child; going on bike rides, heading out on camping trips and playing at the beach.
