A Little About Us
We first met eleven years ago and became friends. As time went on we became closer friends and shared our thoughts and dreams with one another. Our relationship developed into a romance and we have been married a little over four years. We share a strong spiritual background and the belief that family is a priority. We are thrilled to have shared in all the milestone moments of our nieces, nephews, cousins and children of our friends, from sporting events to graduations; we have taken an active part in their lives. We have decided to share our love and commitment by opening our home and hearts to a child of our own. We would like to include your child in our family dinners and holiday celebrations with our extended family.
We live on a quiet street off the main roads, perfect for a game of catch or bike riding! There are lots of families in our neighborhood and swing sets in many of the yards. We can’t wait to put one in our nice spacious yard! There are lots of events that are targeted to help families get to know one another and build a sense of pride in our community.
Matt Tells Vanessa’s Story
Vanessa and her older brother and sister grew up in a house that had two other families and all the children were raised as one family. The family that lived downstairs had five children and the family that lived upstairs had four children, two that were still at home. There was always lots of family around and bonds were formed with both family and extended family that continue to today. Vanessa sees her brother and sister on a regular basis and takes vacation with the kids every year. We have shared trips to the shore, Italy, Williamsburg, VA., Pennsylvania and weekends in New York City.
Vanessa was extremely close with her parents. Vanessa lost her parents in her early twenties. They were supportive, nurturing, loving parents and were always there for Vanessa. Vanessa loves reading, going to the beach, boating, swimming, and wave runners. She enjoys going to the NASCAR races and hockey games. Fortunately, she found me, who loves the same sports as she does. If you don’t find Vanessa at the beach reading a book or swimming you will find her camping on the Delaware or traveling.
Vanessa is a practicing Catholic and taught at her church for 11 years prior to getting married. She also was one of the founders of the youth group at our former Parish. She attends annual retreats and has affiliation with a religious order. Vanessa has a very strong faith! Vanessa has been with her company for 13 years and holds an executive position where she loves working with the clients and developing her employees to grow within the company. Vanessa is looking forward to a new career as a Mom and cannot wait to help her children grow.
Why I Chose Vanessa
Where do I begin, the first thing I saw was her glow. Every time I saw her she had a beautiful glow. Then as I got to know her she was warm and caring. She is able to stand on her own two feet. I knew she was the one that was right for me from the get go. We laugh because many times Vanessa will say you married your mother because she reminds me of her, strong, loving, nurturing personality. We share the same views on life, family, fun and good living.
When I think of Vanessa I think of a loving, nurturing, supportive, playful, adventurous, organized, multi-tasker, exceptional listener and religious.
Vanessa Tells Matt’s Story
Before we met, Matt lived with his parents growing up in the same neighborhood we live in now. He was actually born in the house we live in. His mother did not want to go to the hospital so his aunt delivered him at home. Matt grew up around his extended family as well. His grandmother and aunts were at the house almost every day. The family lived close by so Matt’s house was the gathering place; holidays, parties, or just sitting under the car port. Matt built friendships with the boys on the block that today are still in his life. Two of his childhood buddies are just doors away where we share the lives of their children now. Matt grew up with his parents and two older brothers. Well you could only imagine a house of boys. Bike riding, playing hockey, football and baseball and yes the occasional fight that Mom would break up over the GI Joes.
Matt loved his parents and respected them. Both parents became ill when Matt was in his 30’s. Between Matt and his brother Joe they cared for their parents so that they could remain at home. Matt worked full time to pay for nurses to come to the house and the brothers cared for the parents when the nurses were not there. Matt has very strong family values! Matt loved his parents and family, and has embraced me and my family the same.
If I have not mentioned Matt is an avid train collector! This is one of his favorite things to do. He has a train board set up to run trains and showcases for displaying them. If Matt is not playing with his trains you can find him working on some type of home improvement project. Matt enjoys going to the NASCAR races, hockey games, traveling and camping.
Matt was raised Catholic and continues to practice today. Matt many times helped me when I was starting the youth group at our former parish. Matt started at his company on the line building doors and today is the Corporate Production Manager traveling to the various sites.
Why I Chose Matt
As mentioned earlier, I have known Matt for many years. I recall in the early years a group of us went to the boardwalk and he was playing the Daytona racing game. He had me laughing so hard I thought I was going to wet my pants. Everyone came in off the boardwalk to see what was going on. He drew such a crowd! We were all laughing. I never forgot that and he still keeps me laughing today. Matt is also a romantic, caring and giving person. When we were dating he would leave love notes on my windshield and breakfast on my car mirror. One time there were chop sticks with a note about dinner. Matt continues to do these little things that just brighten up my day. Matt is very dedicated to his family and job.
When I think of Matt I think of a funny, loving, nurturing, loyal, caring, patient, hard working individual.
What It's Like Today
We share our home with friends and family. This is a common thread that we both have shared growing up. We have a tremendous sense of family values. We have many children in our lives that look to us as confidante, role models, friend, aunt, and uncle. We are both the youngest of three children and love the chance when we can all get together. Both our families celebrate birthdays and holidays together, so your child will always have a crowd for the milestones in their life. Our nieces and nephews know they can always come to “TiTi Vanessa and Uncle Matrick” with their greatest successes and the biggest fears. They cannot wait to meet their new cousin and welcome them into our family.
Each year we have a “Tree Trimming Party” for the Christmas holiday. Our house is filled to the brim with lots of people enjoying the Christmas season. We have Santa’s elf prepare the crowd with face painting, magic and balloons in anticipation of the special Elf himself Santa! We look forward to sharing this and so many other experiences with our child. We have both been honored as Godparents to not only family members, but also the children of our friends. We are especially honored that when it came time for the children themselves to choose their sponsor for Confirmation, they have selected one of us as the person they trust for spiritual guidance.
