Peter & Francie are hopeful adoptive parents from Virginia waiting to adopt a baby.

If you are pregnant and considering placing your child for adoption, please read the following Dear Birthmother Letter.

Adoption is a Special Gift of Love Welcome

Thank you for taking the time to get to know us. We can only imagine the difficult choices you are facing, but we praise your decision to choose life for your baby and greatly appreciate the courage you have in considering adoption.

Adoption is a Special Gift

We believe that adoption is a special gift of love that both birth parents and adoptive parents give to a baby. What greater gift can a child have than to know that he or she is loved by two sets of parents? It's a powerfully affirming gift!

We are Pete and Francie

We know how special adoption is, as Pete was adopted as an infant. Though Pete has never met his birth parents, he is grateful for the life they gave him. Pete was adopted through an agency closed adoption - he and his birthparents do not have the opportunity to know about each other. This is why, when we chose to build our family by adoption, we decided to pursue private adoption. We adopted our daughter in 2006 through private adoption and feel it gave us (birth parents and adoptive parents) the flexibility of creating the type of adoptive relationship we were all comfortable with and also thought was best for Isabel. Whether you are more comfortable with a closed adoption, open adoption or something in between - it is clear that your child is and will continue to be surrounded by love.
About Us Pete's Story

I grew up in a suburb outside of Washington DC. I was adopted as an infant into a family who already had two children: a biological son and an adopted daughter (my brother and sister). I was active in sports throughout my school years and especially enjoyed wrestling and swimming. Though both of my parents worked outside the home, they took time off to create one of my greatest memories: a "cross-country" adventure! They took my siblings and me out of school a little early one year so we could spend the summer traveling the US. We visited relatives and friends as we worked our way in a big loop around the US. We saw a lot of historical, interesting and fun sights. I think I learned more about our country during that trip than I did in a year of school. It's a memory I cherish and a trip Francie and I plan to take with our children. My parents had retired several years ago and my father has since passed-away, but my mother remains very active and still enjoys traveling.

Francie's Story

I am the oldest of nine children raised in central New York "farm country". Though both of my parents worked outside the home, we also had a small farm with several vegetable gardens, chickens, ducks, geese, goats, rabbits, horses and at one time pigs and sheep! Coming from a large family - there was always something to do and someone to do it with! My parents have retired and sold the main part of the farm, but still have a barn with some chickens and a couple of small gardens and continue to be active in retirement.

Together

We are both blessed to have such loving and tight-knit families and always knew that we wanted a family of our own. Pete's parents were married for 47 years before his father passed-away and Francie's parents just celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary. We have been fortunate to have the opportunity to learn about relationships from these two life-long marriage commitments.

It was Love at First Dance

OK - it sounds kind of corny - but that's what happened. Francie was visiting a girlfriend near where Pete lived and she and her girlfriend decided to go out dancing at a local club. OK - it gets even cornier ... it was country-western dancing. Pete was already a good dancer and Francie was just a beginner. Pete came up to Francie and asked her to dance. Francie confessed that she really didn't know how to dance well, but Pete took her by the hand and taught her in the lobby of the club.

Well, that was it. Pete realized that Francie was right - she really wasn't a good dancer and that's where the story might've ended if Francie hadn't returned the following year to visit her girlfriend after taking some dancing lessons!

Fast-forward to the same club one year later. Pete again asked Francie to dance, and this time she could "hold her own"! Though we didn't recognize each other at first, as soon as we started dancing together, Francie recognized Pete's style of leading. Information exchange followed and our long-distance relationship began. We were engaged a year later and married a little more than a year after that.
About our Family A Daughter and a Dog

We are very blessed to have such a wonderful family and a full and active life! In 2006, we adopted both a daughter and a puppy. Our daughter, Isabel is a light in our life and we would love for her to have a sibling - either brother or sister. We look forward to the special relationship that siblings share between them and feel it would be a very special bond for both Isabel and another adopted child.

Though our dog, Gracie is very active and energetic, she LOVES children and we often see Isabel and Gracie playing together with Isabel laughing at Gracie's antics. We look forward to adding another child or twins to our family.

Our Faith

We are Christians and are active in our Methodist church. Francie serves as a care-giver in our church nursery. We have a great support system from our church community who are praying with us for our continuing to build our family through adoption.

Our Home

We live in a comfortable neighborhood in Northern Virginia. Our single family home is within walking distance of our community pool, playground and basketball and tennis courts. There are also a number of other recreational areas just a short drive away - camping, boating, kiddie rides and hiking trails. We value education and live in a very good school district with lots of educational opportunities for whatever talents or interests our children have.

Our Jobs

Pete has a secure full-time job (with every-other Friday off) and the ability to "telecommute" one day per week from home. He provides our primary financial support and medical benefits. Francie is self-employed and works part-time from home. She has the flexibility to create her own hours around the needs of children.

Hobbies and Leisure

Since we met dancing, you've probably already guessed that we still love to dance! Pete continues to dance with a demonstration dance team that travels regionally to perform at fairs, nursing homes and special events - including the annual Washington DC Pageant of Peace at Christmastime on the Elipse. Francie enjoys gardening and maintains a 50 gallon freshwater aquarium. We both enjoy travel and try to take at least one special trip every year.

For our honeymoon, we traveled through Alaska and worked our way south to Vancouver. Four years ago, we went to Hawaii and visited three of the islands - our favorite was Kauai. Both of these trips were dreams come true for us! We have also traveled to Florida to visit Disney World, Sea World and Universal Studios theme parks. Every few years we vacation with Pete's family in New Hampshire. A couple of our more recent vacations have included a week in the Shenandoah Mountains and some traveling and hiking in Colorado. We will continue to enjoy our love of travel with our children and hope they catch the "travel bug", too. We often talk of making a family cross-country car trip like the one Pete made growing-up. We live in such a big, beautiful, exciting world and there's so much to see, appreciate and share together!
A Special Note to You We know that you have a very important decision to make for the futures of both you and your baby. We prayerfully hope you will allow us the gift of adopting and providing a loving secure home and an adoring family for this baby. Isabel would love to be a "big sister"!

We have a completed home study and are ready to have a baby join our family immediately after birth. We are prepared to pay the fees of an adoption attorney for you, so your rights and those of your baby are protected throughout the adoption process without being a financial burden to you. We strongly recommend an attorney who is a member of the AAAA (American Academy of Adoption Attorneys) due to their expertise in this specialized area, but we don't require that you select one of these attorneys. We may also be able to help with some of your medical and counseling fees if you need them.

A special note if you are expecting twins: we are completely comfortable with multiple infants and would NEVER suggest separating the babies into two households - twins would be kept together.

Hopefully we have given you a good idea of who we are and what our values are. We hope you will consider us as the adoptive family for your baby. We would love to add another child to our family. We would be glad to speak with you by phone (703-597-7032) or e-mail Send us a message if you have any questions or want to talk more with us.

Our love and prayers are with you and your baby.
