Jared & Adrienne are hopeful adoptive parents from North Carolina waiting to adopt a baby.

If you are pregnant and considering placing your child for adoption, please read the following Dear Birthmother Letter.

Dear Birthparents, Thank you for considering adoption for your child. We can only imagine the emotions and feelings you have had that have brought you to this decision. We are grateful for you and for your considering adoption. Adoption brings people together, creates families, and binds people together. We hope that you find a family that feels right to you. We also hope that family might be us. We know God loves you and we pray that you may be blessed and guided in this decision.

Some of our friends have adopted children. Seeing their happiness only makes us more thrilled and eager to be adoptive parents. As we imagine being new parents, we know that we will undoubtedly love our child and look forward to becoming a family together. By adopting a child, we look forward to that family we have always pictured: taking walks together, going on family vacations, starting family traditions, and watching our child grow up.
Our Story We want you to know more about us. We met in the fall of 1998. We ended up living in the same apartment complex while attending college, and we were introduced to each other through Adrienne’s roommate, who was the sister of Jared’s roommate. Jared eventually worked up the nerve to ask Adrienne for a proper date and things went well. As we continued our courtship we were eventually married in Washington DC in December of 1999. We attended college until we both finished our degrees and we then moved to North Carolina for work and education. We love living in North Carolina. We have made trips to the beaches and mountains of North Carolina which are beautiful. We love following the Tarheel basketball team and attending as many games as possible. We love sitting on our front step and listening to the sound of the wind as it blows through the pines and hardwood trees around our home. It's the simple things that make us happy.

We have now been married for over eight years, which have been wonderful years together. During most of this time we have been trying to start our family, but have been unsuccessful. While difficult, we can see the Lord’s hand in our lives. We are so excited about being a mother and father. We have been praying, planning, and preparing for the blessing of parenthood.

In terms of interests, we absolutely love spending time with each other. Our hobbies bring us together in conversation, activity, and best of all, making memories.

We enjoy hiking and have climbed different mountains in North Carolina, Utah, and New Hampshire. We also just walk a lot. Whether in our neighborhood, in a park, or along a beach, we love to be outdoors. One reason that we like to go walking and hiking is that we always seem to have our best conversations during the walk. When we have had a long week, we can usually go on a walk and re-connect within a few minutes. Many important moments in our relationship have occurred while we have been on walks. It was on a walk that we got engaged. With a stroller, or a child carrier, we think that family hikes and walks will be even more fun than just the two of us.

If we are going to be indoors, we want to be in the kitchen. We love making new meals and dishes that excite us. Just for fun, we have an ever-growing family cookbook with recipes of meals we like and pictures of the dishes we have made. We also love to spend time in the yard, planting flowers and herbs. We use the herbs in cooking and we simply enjoy looking at the flowers when they bloom. A true test of our cooking skills will be to see whether or not our child actually likes what we make; making cookies together should be a guaranteed hit!

We also like to travel. We enjoy seeing new sights and experiencing different cultures and places. It's a great time to have fun and be together. Whether it’s a road trip or flying somewhere new, we always get excited to see a new place together. Some of our favorite excursions include a day trip to the beaches of North Carolina, or a hike in the fall colors in the Appalachian Mountains. We feel that by making sure we have time to spend with each other we have created a strong bond of love and deep friendship. This bond and friendship will deepen as our family gets bigger and we all go on new adventures. Vacations will be a great time to make memories as a family; whether it’s a first time on a roller coaster or making sand castles next to the ocean, we have big plans for the future.
About Adrienne and Jared Jared
I am the 2nd of 5 children. I have 3 brothers and a sister. Most of them are married and I have 3 nieces and 5 nephews between the families of my brothers and sister. I grew up in Nampa, Idaho with most of my extended family, including 20+ cousins, nearby. I enjoyed golfing and fishing with my dad and brothers. In high school, I played basketball and soccer. I was active in Student government and our youth church choir. Growing up, I also enjoyed Scouting and earned my Eagle Award. I attended college for 1 year before serving a church mission in London, England and then returned to finish my college degree. Since finishing dental school and an orthodontic residency, I am very happy with my chosen profession and the time I have to be with Adrienne and our future family.

I like to read books about history and religion. I enjoy reading magazines like Popular Science, National Geographic, and Car and Driver. I have more recently developed an interest in cooking. I love to be in the kitchen with Adrienne cutting up vegetables or cooking a new dish. It's great in the summer when I can get on the grill and cook some burgers or veggies. I also like to do home improvement projects. I enjoy the challenge of small plumbing, electrical, and carpentry projects. I also like to go hiking in the mountains, do a little biking, and take photographs of nature. As far as sports go, I like to play basketball and soccer. I love to watch tennis and I am trying to learn how to play. I also enjoy being with Adrienne whenever I do any of my hobbies; it always more fun to do these things with her. I also look forward to teaching my child (girl or boy) to play basketball and soccer, like my dad did with me. I imagine going to the zoo and telling him or her about the animals we see. I can’t wait to be a dad.

Adrienne: I would describe Jared as possibly the most loving and selfless person that I have ever met on this planet. His ability to love and the innate kindness that oozes from him are what first attracted me to him. Jared is just pure. His goodness is obvious. He is gentle, capable, confident, sincere, and ambitious; I have always known that Jared would make a great father. In the years we have been married, I have seen him mature from a ‘guy’ to a man. Jared’s greatest trait is his ability to interact with people. This is something that I, my family, and his friends have experienced, and I have also witnessed him exhibit this trait professionally. He always knows everyone’s name and takes the time to show that he cares. He is a guy’s guy, a romantic, an intellectual and a loyal friend; I have leaned on him many times. To me, Jared has few faults. He loves me for everything that I am and am not. I feel that I am completely safe to be me when I am with him. He is my best friend.

Adrienne
I am last of 4 children. I have one sister, who is the oldest in the family, and two brothers. I have 5 nieces and 2 nephews from my sibling’s families. I love being an aunt, especially when I get to spend time with nieces and nephews playing games with them. I was raised in Potomac, MD, a suburb of Washington DC. I have a close relationship with my parents, including my mother who is one of my best friends. I appreciate my friends who provide support and many laughs. I enjoyed family vacations to Utah and New Hampshire when growing up and which continue today. I finished college in 2001 with a degree in Child Development. I loved studying Child Development because I think it will help me be sensitive and aware of physical and emotional needs of my own child in the future. A few years ago, I enjoyed working for a company that created educational toys and videos on emotional development of children. Now I am at home and looking forward to becoming a mother.

I really enjoy a great book. I especially like to read political and historical books. I also love learning about personal financial planning. Playing with numbers is one of my quirky passions. Currently, I spend most of my time improving our home through painting, decorating, and other home-improvement projects. I also love to get my hands in the dirt, especially during the summer when I plant and tend herbs and flowers. I love to use the herbs in the kitchen when trying out new recipes, which is another passion. I also try to find any excuse to be outdoors. I run in the mornings, go biking occasionally, and do as much hiking as possible. I love playing tennis, which is fun and gets me outside. Traveling to new places to be outdoors and experience new cuisine is a great way to combine many of my interests. My ideal day would include any of these activities with my husband, because, truth be told, I am happiest when I am with him. I get even more excited when I think about doing any of these things as a mother. I can’t wait to go on bike rides with my child, bake cupcakes with each other, and read to her or him.

Jared: Adrienne is a wonderful wife. She is a loyal friend and confidant. She is thoughtful, kind, and concerned about others. She likes to laugh, and she enjoys learning about new things. She does not like to be in the limelight, and will go to great lengths to stay out of it, yet she is not afraid to get involved in serving me, her family and friends, or others. She is strong, patient, determined, and tenacious. Adrienne has shown patience in many ways, including hanging in there for 7 years of graduate school, but perhaps she best demonstrates patience in the way she cares for others. Adrienne will accomplish anything she sets her mind to and will not give up on her dreams. Before we were married, Adrienne told me about the kind of marriage that she wanted. She wanted a husband who would be around for her and her family. She just wanted a husband and father to her children who would give them his time. She wanted a best friend and companion. I appreciate her determination to attain her ideals and her dedication to me. She showed me what she wanted and I want the same. She is the best wife and future mother I can imagine.

Our Hope We hope this helps you to know us better. We realize that this is a difficult way to try to get to know somebody, but we hope in someway we are able to convey to you who we are, and what’s important to us, and how much we are looking forward to welcoming a child into our family. Since beginning the adoption process, our love and admiration for birth parents has increased many times. We recognize how big of a decision this may be for you, but we know that you can find the family that is just right for your child. We look forward to telling our child about your love and strength. We feel the love you have for your child and we know that your chosen family will continue the tradition of love that you started. We hope you will consider us as parents for your child.

With love,
Jared and Adrienne
