Rob & Heidi are hopeful adoptive parents from Washington waiting to adopt a baby.

HI! WE'RE ROB AND HEIDI! We hope that when you read this you’ll get a good idea of who we are and the kind of life we’re so excited to give a child. Because of our experiences with adoption—Heidi was adopted—we have a strong understanding of the process and what you are going through. Many people who are adopting don’t know what to expect or what it’s like to be a birth mother or an adoptee. We understand both!

I, Heidi, was adopted as an infant and was reconnected with my birth mother as an adult. Not only was I lucky enough to be adopted by a wonderful family that loved me unconditionally and gave me a wonderful life, but I was also able to meet and have a lasting, loving relationship with my birth mother who found me when I was 29. Thanks to many long conversations about why she chose adoption and where I came from, I truly understand what it was like for her to make such a selfless, scary decision, all out of her love for me.

My parents always told me how much my birth mother loved me and how lucky we all were to be with each other. I never felt anything but love toward my birth mother, even though I had no idea who she was or why she chose adoption. We promise to always let your baby know how much you love them, how special they are to all of us and how lucky we are all to have found each other.

OUR LOVE STORY We Are The Perfect Match
We met in January 2002 and were married July 2002. When you know, you know, right? Good thing we found each other because we were meant to be. We’re a very active couple who run marathons, snowboard, rock climb, hike and camp. We also love to travel. Rob is from England, and we go there almost every year to visit his family. In the last couple years we have been to Kauai, Costa Rica, Paris, New York, England, and up and down the west coast multiple times to see family and friends. We also have a cabin by Mt. Hood in Oregon, that has been in Heidi’s family for almost 80 years. It is a beautiful place for children to run, play and be in nature.

Our Home
We live in a tight-knit neighborhood on an island in Puget Sound, a short ferry ride from Seattle. It is so fun to see seals, jellyfish and the occasional pod of whales when we walk along the beach. Our big red house in the woods has a huge yard—perfect for playing. We have the perfect spot for a play structure and tree house! Our neighbors are good friends. We barbecue and have dinners with them, and get together to let our dogs play. Our three-year-old dog, Murphy, is great with kids and loves everybody, and the neighborhood kids love to play with our sweet cat, Sebastian.

ABOUT ROB (by Heidi)
Rob is my favorite person in the world. He is smart, funny, creative and loves kids and animals like crazy! He is very goal oriented and accomplishes what he sets out to do. Rob and I are totally made for each other. We have so much fun together no matter what we do. He’s one of the funniest people I know and is always cracking me up with his dry sense of humor. Rob will be a fabulous Dad. He is so smart and will be able to teach our child everything from why the stars sparkle to why David Beckham is the world’s greatest soccer player!

He is also Mr. Adventure. He will try a sport or some activity once, and if he likes it, he puts all his focus into it and excels. Watching Rob run three marathons inspired me to do one as well, and now I am hooked. He also loves to surf and even got me up on a board while we were in Costa Rica. His latest passion is mountaineering, and he has aspirations to climb mountains like Rainier and Everest! This will be one sport he’ll do without me. I have no desire to sleep in snow, but I’ll be the first to run up and give him a huge hug and kiss when he comes down from the mountain.

He always makes me very proud, and I am so lucky and thankful to be his wife.

ABOUT HEIDI (by Rob)
Ok, so where do I begin with Heidi? As anyone will tell you, she has a personality that’s larger than life: You know when Heidi enters a room! She is one of those people who is a magnet; generally there is a line of dogs, cats and children creating all kinds of chaos wherever she goes. Her smile and sense of humor is infectious. Her passion for life and the things that are important to her is unsurpassed.

Heidi was a nanny for years and just loves kids. She has been waiting for so long to raise a child of her own, and I know that she will be a very loving, nurturing and totally amazing mom! I have never met anyone with the level of compassion and depth of love Heidi has. With Heidi, everyone gets the benefit of the doubt. She is fiercely loyal to her friends and family, and will drop everything to help anyone at anytime.

Heidi’s love and support have driven me to achieve many things I may not have otherwise. I am smarter, fitter and wealthier in many ways through our relationship. With Heidi, it’s one of those deals where I just know that it’s forever, no questions or doubts. We are an excellent match, balancing each other’s strengths and weaknesses perfectly. I know I am lucky to be married to her.

FAMILY & FRIENDS AROUND THE WORLD Rob's British Family
Rob’s family is in England, and we love going to visit. Rob’s “mum,” grandparents, sister and brother-in-law all live in the same town, so it’s easy to get together as a family when we are there. Rob’s sister just had a baby boy, so it will be fun to have cousins with different accents!

Heidi's American Family
Heidi’s family is all over, but grandpa and grandma will be just a ferry ride away. Heidi’s adoptive mom passed away two years ago so she’ll be the angel Grandma watching down from above. Her older brother lives in the Midwest with his wife and two daughters. Heidi’s birth mom and husband live a short plane ride away and are already buying toys for their future grandchild. Heidi’s younger brother, from her birth mom, plans on living close by as soon as he graduates from college this year.

Our Friends from Around the Globe
We have such good friends that live all around the world. Costa Rica, England, New York, America, you name it we know somebody there! Our child will be surrounded by people of all ethnicities and cultures. Our friends are dear to us. They have all been so supportive during this process and are very excited for us to have a child. Most of our friends either have kids or are starting their families now, so our baby will have lots of playmates close to home as well as in different countries!

We are very lucky to have such loving families and good friends.
No doubt about it, this baby will be loved by all!

OUR DREAM COME TRUE We want a child more than anything in the world. We always talked about what we would do if we weren’t able to get pregnant, and adoption was always the answer. After trying for two years and going though multiple infertility treatments, we decided it was time to focus our positive energy on starting the adoption process. We have so many friends who have started their families through adoption, including Heidi’s best friend of over 30 years, who has adopted two little boys. The baby that we adopt will be among many friends and family members who also have adoption in their lives.

We are financially secure and stable. We will give a child everything they will need to live a healthy, joyful life full of love and experiences so he or she will grow into a loving, well-rounded, educated, cultured and happy person. We will love and cherish a child so much. We promise to raise a child that will be confident, loving and self-assured. We will teach them to treat others the way they want to be treated and to always show love and respect for friends and family.
