Derek & Carrie are hopeful adoptive parents from Oregon waiting to adopt a baby.

Adoption Blessed Us Thank you for reading our letter. We know that you never expected to find yourself in this situation where you are considering adoption for your baby. We know that you love your baby very much and that in an ideal world you would love to be able to raise this baby. We know that you want to give your baby everything, that you have hopes and dreams for your baby. We know that you have hopes and dreams for yourself and that right now you are not sure how everything is going to work out. If you are reading this letter, we know that you are considering one of the most unselfish, loving acts- placing your baby for adoption. We know this is one of the hardest choices you have ever had to make and we can only imagine the difficulties, the thoughtfulness and the possible heartache that have brought you to this point. We hope that as you study out the possibilities and decide what will be best for you and your baby that you will find peace and comfort.

Our family has been blessed by the gift of adoption in so many ways. We thought we were being given the gift of our daughter, but we were given so much more. We were given the relationships with her birth family, which are important and precious to us. We truly love our daughter’s birth family. We feel it is important for our children to know how much they were loved before they came to our family. We would like to have a relationship with you, if you are comfortable with that idea and we are aware that this relationship can evolve over time. We want you to know that your baby is happy, healthy and very much loved. We want you to know that and not just hope for that. We are open with our daughter about adoption and feel that openness and honesty will create healthy relationships for all involved. We hope that you will be able to feel that adoption can be a blessing in ways you can’t imagine right now, just like it has blessed us in ways we never would have thought.

Meet our Family We want to tell you about our family. We hope that by getting to know a little more about us that you will know if we are the right family for your baby. We believe that you will be inspired to choose the right family for your baby and while that may seem overwhelming, we have faith that you will make the right choice, whatever it may be. We were married while we were in college and soon after we hoped to start our family. But babies did not come and after much prayer we were inspired to choose adoption to build our family. We love sharing our interests with our daughter. Derek, a dentist, loves hiking, camping, biking, almost anything outdoors. He loves learning about all sorts of subjects and the Discovery Channel is his favorite! Derek loves coming home to play with Hannah. He also enjoys cooking and makes delicious meals. Carrie is a former teacher, now stay at home mom, who loves baking, scrapbooking, collecting children’s books and running. She ran some half marathons and is thinking about trying a full one. She is trying to learn how to sew. Together we share a love of international travel, talking, scrabble, reading, watching tv and hanging out with our daughter Hannah. As a family we love to go to bookstores, the zoo, the park, the library, to visit family and to Starbucks for some yummy hot cocoa. We play together in the evenings. Hannah loves to play with trains, build with blocks, read books and play hide and seek. She just recently discovered dancing, so some nights we have a dance party before bed. Hannah is a smart, creative and loving kid. To this day we are awed by the gift that was given to us that allowed us to become parents. There is no other role that we cherish as much as the role of Mom and Dad.

Family is Important to Us We know that raising a child is a blessing and awesome responsibility. We want you to know that we will love, protect, nurture and provide for any child that joins our family. We will strive to raise them to be a person of honor and integrity who will make the world a better place. We will provide support and opportunities so that they will feel loved and secure, able to face the challenges that life brings. We will support them in the choices they make and help them fulfill their hopes and dreams. We will provide a home of faith, peace, safety and security. We strive to parent through love, consistency and example. We hope that these are things you want for your baby as well.

Thank You We know that adoption is not a choice you make lightly and we want to express our appreciation of the courage and strength you have to consider it. We know that this decision takes an amazing amount of faith. Please know of our love for you and of our sincere desire to love and raise a baby. We have so much love in our hearts and cannot wait to fall in love with the child who comes into our lives.
