Dear Birthmother Hi! We are Sam and Julia from Illinois. Most important, we want to thank you for taking the time to get to know us! We are thankful that you have chosen to make an adoption plan for your future child. It is such a loving thing to do. We imagine there are times you feel scared and unsure. Please know that by making your decision, you will fulfill a dream for a couple who have always wanted to be parents. We hope our letter and profile will show you that we are a family who loves to laugh, have fun and be together. We would love to meet you, if you would like, so we can get to know each other better. We wish you peace and strength while making your plans.

Julia about Sam…
Since our first date, I knew Sam was the man for me. We both grew up in similar families with parents that had strong, lasting marriages. Being the only boy for a while in Sam's family, taught Sam how to respect women and treat them well. He learned this from his own family and brought it to our relationship. I always knew that Sam would be an incredible father! If there are kids around, you can be sure that Sam is right there with them playing games and entertaining them. He acts like a big kid every chance he gets. He is so loving to me and our families and he has so much more room in his heart to love, encourage and teach our own child. He is perfect for me and I can't wait to see him be a wonderful father. I am so proud to have him as my husband!

Sam about Julia…
When Julia and I went out on our first date, I knew there was a strong connection. Julia has a way that people want to be her friend or get to know her. It is great to see Julia interact with my nieces and nephews when we visit Pennsylvania. Julia is a very caring person who would help anyone in need. The thing I love the most about Julia is the love she shows for her family and mine. Julia will be a stay at home mom and be able to help our future child grow and develop. This is a role she has been waiting for a long time. Julia has unbelievable patience, understanding and love to share.

Sam is a District Manager for H & R Block and commutes at the moment, to the city. During slow season he often works from our home office. Even though he works extremely hard at his job, he always makes the time for family, friends and us. Julia works part time from our home office for Silpada Designs Jewelry as an Independent Sales Representative. Luckily, Julia can make her own hours and will be able to stay home with our child.

We met while we were both working as Assistant Managers at different stores at a local mall. Julia would have to walk by the store Sam worked at in the morning for her coffee. We started by just saying "hi", but one day Sam stopped Julia and we began getting to know each other. After a few weeks, Sam finally asked Julia out for a date. We had planned to go to a nature center for a hike, but that day it was pouring rain. We ended up at another mall, window shopping and became inseparable. Four months after our first date, we got engaged. Ten months after our engagement we were married on May 26, 1995. This year we will be married thirteen years.
We are more in love now than we were back then and are each others first person we want to see in the morning and the last person we want to see before we go to sleep.

Once we were married, we knew we wanted to be parents. We both came from large families. Sam is one of ten children and Julia is one of six children. We tried the old fashioned way, but never had a pregnancy go to term due to infertility. After seeing a specialist we went through several inseminations and several invitro fertilization. None of these methods were helpful and we knew that we were supposed to build our family through adoption. We believe that the child we are supposed to be parents to is yet to join our family. This makes us happy and excited for the future!
We have lived in our home since 1999. When we moved in, there was only our house and the one across the street. The pizza delivery guy could never find us because our street was so new, nobody knew where it was! Now we have many wonderful neighbors with children for our child to grow up knowing. Our house is a three bedroom, two and a half bathroom home with a big, fenced in backyard. We look forward to seeing toys scattered around our backyard! Also, we live across the street from a ten-acre park with a playground, gazebo, baseball and soccer fields. We enjoy taking our two dogs for walks on the walking paths. Our two dogs that we spoil are Lacey, our ten-year-old Bichon Frise that we got from a shelter and Ginger, our seven year old Toy Poodle that we got at a pet shop. Lacey and Ginger love to stop and meet all of the children that always stop to pet them. They are very friendly dogs, and love to go on walks.
During the nicer weather months, we like to do just about anything outdoors. Summertime is our favorite time of year. We both spend a lot of time working in our yard. Julia has a beautiful flower garden in the backyard and grows vegetables and herbs. Sam actually likes to mow the grass and do yard work. Sam loves long distance bike riding, golf and basketball. Julia loves taking the dogs for a walk or power walking in the park across the street, usually stopping to talk to neighbors. We both love to go to Chicago White Sox baseball games, fairs, flea markets and hiking in the forest preserve. Our town also has a yearly town picnic, fall festival and Fourth of July parade and fireworks. When the colder weather comes around we both like to read, watch sports on TV, and spend time with family. Sam likes doing crossword puzzles and Sudoku, Julia loves to design and decorate the spaces in our home. She is especially excited to design and decorate a nursery for our baby!

Every year, at least once we go to Pennsylvania to visit Sam's family. Everyone meets at his parent’s two hundred acre farm and it is very casual and fun! All of the nieces and nephews get to run around and play and the adults usually eat and visit. It is a time we look forward to every year and cherish the times we have there. We also usually plan a vacation during the summer. We prefer to drive and sight see along the way, but sometimes we do fly if our time is limited. We love the beach, mountains and historical places.

Most of Julia's family lives close by and we always host holidays at our home. We also see Julia's parents and sister, nephew and brother who live nearby often. Julia has another sister who lives in Nevada and another brother who lives in Florida. We visit as much as we can, but always stay in touch weekly by phone and email. Sam's family is based in Pennsylvania. We also keep in touch weekly by phone and email.

Our favorite tradition is at Christmas. Every year we go to a local Christmas tree farm, walk the rows of trees and chop one down for our home. Its always so much fun! We take a sleigh ride and then sip hot chocolate. We go with our very good friends and their children. We also host Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter at our house. At Halloween we enjoy dressing in costumes, dressing the dogs in Halloween outfits and handing out candy. We really look forward to choosing a costume with our child and go trick or treating! We love to decorate the house for every holiday.

We wish you many blessings, peace and courage in your journey. It has been a pleasure being able to present our lives to you.

Sincerely,
Sam and Julia
