Dear Birthparents
We are so happy to have the opportunity to adopt another child into our family. We have two beautiful sons, Peyton and Connor, who are both adopted. We are so grateful for them in our lives. We have made the decision to adopt another child one of prayer and careful consideration. We feel very strongly that there is another child that is meant to come into our family. We want to you know how much we admire your strength and courage during this difficult time in your lives. We keep you in our prayers everyday that you will be guided, comforted and be able to make the best decision for you and your child.
About Us
Shane and Rochelle.....
we met each other in college and became friends very quickly. We had been friends for a short time and began dating as we realized that we each had stronger feelings than friendship for one another. We were married in September 1994. We attended college together and in 1997 moved to Iowa for Shane to attend Physician Assistant school. This experience brought us so close to each other since we didn't live close to any family. We consider each other to be best friends. We think it is so important for the mother and father to have a close and strong relationship. We moved back to Utah in 1999 when Shane graduated from school. He currently works in cardiovascular surgery. He loves his job and feels that education is very important. Rochelle is a stay-at-home mom and loves it! She loves spending time with the boys and making our house into a home. Even though we are busy with two boys, we still try to make time for us as a couple. We try to go on a couple of dates each month.
Peyton....
Peyton is our adorable 7 year old. He is very creative. He loves to draw and make "projects". He can turn a shoebox into anything! He loves to draw on "blank" paper, and his drawings are usually very intricate and full of detail. Peyton is also your "typical" boy who loves video games, watching TV, riding bikes and scooters, playing with friends, building Lego's, playing with anything Star Wars, and playing outside. Peyton is going into 2nd grade and loves school! He is a fantastic reader and a great student. He won a couple of awards in 1st grade for academic achievement and attendance. We were so proud of him! Peyton is also very loving and kind. He is a great big brother to Connor and can't wait to help take care of our new baby! He has made a list of chores he can help us with when the baby is here. It's so cute to see his enthusiasm towards a new baby. Peyton is always giving hugs and organizing game time for the family. We love him so much and are so glad is part of our family!
Connor....
Connor is our rambunctious 3...almost 4 year old. Connor is crazy about anything that has to do with sports. His favorite is probably baseball. He can do a real wind-up and pitch a baseball. He loves to get in on the action when Shane and Peyton are playing catch. Connor is very athletic and loves being outside. He can't wait for baseball this year since he will finally be old enough to play t-ball. Connor loves to play his game-boy and is really getting good at playing Lego Star Wars on X-Box. He loves Peyton and thinks he is the best! Connor also loves cars, especially the cars from the Disney movie "Cars". He has quite a collection going on and wants to check the toy section at Walmart for any new characters he doesn't have yet. Connor is always coming up with funny one-liners that continually make us and our neighbors laugh. He has the biggest brown eyes that we just love! He is also excited to become the "big" brother. He has a new niece that he makes really cute faces at and loves to hold her. We are so grateful Connor is part of our family, we love him so much!
Our Adoption Journey
After we had been married for a couple of years we wanted to start our family. After several years of dealing with infertility and many tests and procedures, we decided we wanted to adopt. It was a fairly easy decision for us, one that we felt complete peace and comfort with. In August 2001, our first son, Peyton was born. We were so thrilled that we had been chosen by his birth mother. Being parents was even better than we had imagined! We had the opportunity to meet his birth mom and her family a couple of weeks before Peyton was born. Meeting her was so special and just confirmed feelings to both of us that his adoption was right. We couldn't stop smiling during the meeting! We have a great relationship with her and are so grateful to her for trusting us with Peyton. She is a special member of our family.
In October 2004 our second son, Connor was born. We found out he was born on a Saturday, (which was about 10 days early). We were visiting Shane's parents for the weekend, and couldn't wait for Monday to come so we could pick him up at the hospital! We also had the opportunity to meet his birth mom and her parents. The meeting with them was full of laughter and learning more about each other. Her family has been so supportive to her and to us. The first time we met Connor was priceless! He was so little and Peyton was so excited to meet his new brother. It was a great experience to pick him up at the hospital! His birth family was so happy for us, we are so grateful for the love they show our family. We feel so lucky to have so many wonderful people who love and cherish Peyton and Connor.
We are so excited to have another birth family to add to our family. We cannot say enough how grateful we are for adoption. It is an amazing experience! We can't wait for a sweet baby to be added to our family. We want you to know that your baby will be loved and cherished by us. We have been very open with Peyton and Connor about being adopted. They both have binders full of letters and pictures from their birth families. They both know they can look at them any time they want, and ask us any questions they may have. We tell them how lucky they are that they have so many people who love them. We want you to know that we will do the same with your baby. Your baby will know how much you love them and that you want them to have a wonderful, happy life.
Our values
We love spending time together as a family. We love to spend time playing games, watching movies, playing outside, going camping, teaching the boys how to do yard or house work, visiting grandparents, miniature golfing, bowling, reading, going on bike rides and walks, visiting the park, going out to dinner, or just hanging out. We love our kids so much and love to spend time with them. We use methods of love and encouragement in raising our children. We are encouraging them to develop their talents and are providing opportunities to do so. We love to support them in their activities. Raising happy, healthy, and loved children is so important to us. We want to be a family forever, and are teaching our children how to be caring, compassionate people.
We live in a suburban neighborhood outside of Salt Lake City, Utah. We built our home about 3 years ago, and it is a brick rambler with 5 bedrooms and 2 1/2 bathrooms. We have part of our basement finished and are working on finishing the remaining bedroom, bathroom, and family room. We love the area we live in. It is filled with great families that surround us. We live close to most of our families and love to spend time with them. Our kids have 8 cousins on Shane's side of the family and 12 cousins on Rochelle's side with more on the way! Our families love Peyton and Connor and are very excited for us to have another baby! They are so positive about adoption and have been a great support for us.
We want you to know how much we admire your strength and courage during this time in our lives. We are so thankful that you would consider adoption. We love you so much already and can't wait to meet you! Please let us know if you have any questions for us.
With much love,
Shane and Rochelle
