Birthparent Letter Dear Friend,

We deeply admire and respect you for even considering adoption. It takes so much wisdom and love to think about this decision. Whether or not our family is right for you we hope you will be blessed with everything good and that you will realize just how loved and appreciated you are by so many people. Thank you so much for taking the time to get to know our family.

We have been so grateful for the miracle of adoption. Our cute miracles’ names are Kalli (3 1/2 years) and Ezekiel (2 years). If you are interested in having siblings for your child these two kids are very loving and make every day fun and exciting.

Kalli and Ziek’s birth parents and birth families have been our angels. We respect and admire them more than they will ever know. We keep a big fun book of all their pictures and letters for Kalli and Ziek because we want them to know where they came from and to cherish their adoption story and birth families. These little ones could never have too many people to love them! We send tons of pictures, letters, DVDs, and emails and we also have a family blog with videos that we update monthly. We have a lot of love to give and we’d love to find another child to adopt.

Our doctors haven’t found any reason why we can’t have children ourselves, but we’ve been thrilled with the blessing of adoption and we look forward to raising these children the way we were raised - with love, respect, and lots of fun. We want to fill their lives with good and wonderful things, to always tell them of your incredible and amazing love and sacrifice and to give them every opportunity for growth and happiness.

Interests and Hobbies We do a lot of traveling and road trips. We like to visit beaches and lakes and go boating and biking together. National parks are always a favorite destination.

We’ve each got great families and great neighbors with kids the same age and we spend lots of time hanging out with them at barbecues and on holidays. Beyond that, we love to paint pictures, jump on our trampoline, tease each other, read books and watch a lot of Little Mermaid and Curious George.

Stephen is the class clown! He loves kids and people and especially spending time with his family and friends. His undergraduate degree was in Middle Eastern History so he really likes studying and reading about history and reads a lot in general. He spends a little bit of every day on his road bike and also loves mountain biking when he gets the chance.

Erica is the runner in the family (she's also the chaser and tickler when it comes bedtime for Kalli and Ziek) and does some road biking, triathlons, and yoga. As a stay at home mom she loves making home movies of the cutest kids on the planet. She follows politics and environmental issues (is kind of a nut about science and biology) and loves animals, arts, crafts, photography, and music. She's been a volunteer Webelos Scout leader for 3 years and the outreach coordinator for our adoption agency as well as our local MOM's club treasurer. She would love get her Master's Degree in Nutrition (when the kids get to High School) and play a whole lot more of her guitar.

Kalli loves hanging out in her princess dresses, coloring in her Little Pony coloring book, eating grapes and popcorn and giving all her friends big hugs before they play together.

Ziek can't get enough of trucks and motorcycles and getting into whatever his sister is playing with. He especially loves applesauce and cookies and listening to his Sesame Street CD's.

Our Family Background Stephen and I met in college at a University soccer game with some friends. A few weeks later we saw each other again and Stephen yelled across a crowded courtyard for my phone number (how do you turn that down?) And even though we went to intensely rival colleges we were married 8 months later.

We’ve had tons of fun as a couple and as a family but the things most important to us are our faith, our families and making sure Kalli and Ziek have big smiles on their cute faces. Our greatest joy and happiness comes from these sweet kids and doing everything we can to become better people. We live in a roomy house on a quiet street close to the mountains with a big backyard and garden. There are lots of kids on our block and we live close to good schools and parks and a great community center.

Stephen: I was blessed with a very fun and happy childhood. I have one older brother and sister and two younger brothers (Erica and I are both middle children). My job gives me a flexible schedule and so I get lots of time to spend with my family. Erica and I met seven years ago and have been madly in love ever since. She’s one of those angels you come across only once in a lifetime, always happy and positive. Her great smile and care for others makes her fun to be around and with all of her great attributes she and Kalli and Ziek are my greatest joy and most cherished blessing.

Erica: I’m the middle of five children with two awesome and adventurous parents. This means that most family vacations were spent climbing mountains (getting lost) and living in interesting places. My brothers and sisters and I like to joke that we were practically raised by our faithful German shepherd, because when we were little we would spend everyday with her exploring and playing in the Arizona desert in our little mining town. I went to High School in Hawaii where my family grew very close (although some days we would vote my younger sister off the island.) I played tennis and ran cross-country with my older brother, learned to scuba dive with my dad, and we all laughed at my baby sister as she learned to hula dance.

I worked as a waitress, a teaching assistant, and a laboratory research tech to pay my way through college for my Biology degree. I met the great Stephen during my last year in college. My first impression of him was that he would make the best kid camp counselor ever because he’s so funny, interesting, and motivated. He loves to entertain a crowd, but he’s also kind, easy going and completely devoted. I love watching him be a father because it comes so naturally to him.

A Little More About Kalli & Ziek We love Kalli’s kind heart, her beautiful smile, her groovy dance moves and the fact that she falls in love with every dog she’s ever met. She has taught us so much about love and life. From the day we brought her home out of the powerful and incredible love of her birth families we have cherished her dearly. She is an amazing child with charm and curiosity and unwavering determination.

Ziek is such an adorable and super affectionate toddler! His little baby boy laughter is the most wonderful sound in the world. He has also been an amazing and wonderful gift to us. We treasure our relationship with his very dedicated birth families. We are so grateful for the opportunity to have these children in our lives and we are thrilled with the prospect of adding another precious member.
