BILL & COLLEEN are hopeful adoptive parents from North Carolina waiting to adopt a baby.
If you are pregnant and considering placing your child for adoption, please read the following Dear Birthmother Letter.

Dear Friend,
What courage and faith you have to choose adoption! How very much you must love your baby! Certainly, this has been a most difficult decision for you, and we admire you so much for being so selfless. We know God loves you and will give you the peace you need, as you make such a selfless sacrifice for your baby.
About Our Family
Perhaps you would like to know something about us. We met in Texas, when Bill was serving in the military and Colleen was working as a retail travel agent. We were members of the same Young Single Adult group at church and became acquainted through mutual friends. During the summer we met, we enjoyed a wonderful friendship that developed into a profound love for one another. Colleen remembers fondly, "I had always said I wanted to marry my best friend. In 1996 Bill made that dream come true!"
Now as a family of three, we all love each other very much, and enjoy spending family time together. We are so eager to complete our family circle of love with an additional special little spirit!
Bill
While working full-time for AT&T, I recently graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting. For fun, I love everything about airplanes and enjoy studying military history. I come by this fascination naturally, as my father and brother are both private aircraft pilots, and my maternal grandfather was a World War II bomber pilot. My father also served in Vietnam, and I myself served in the U.S. Air Force. I am an avid reader, and like learning about computers and electronics.
Colleen
I have chosen to be a full-time, stay-at-home wife and mom. Besides taking care of home and family, my favorite activities include traveling, personal journal-writing, and researching my family history. I have visited thirty-six states and twenty-four foreign countries. Bill also shares my love of travel, and has visited twenty-three states and ten foreign countries. We absolutely insist on travel as part of our children's education; whether visiting a historical site ten miles away, or a museum of ancient art half a world away, there is always something new to learn!
Whitley
Four-year-old Whitley is a very sweet child, who loves books and music. She is a beautiful little girl who enjoys looking at her books and magazines and playing with her dollhouse. On weekday mornings Whitley has "music time" at home, when she listens to two to three hours of music while she plays and "helps" Colleen with housework. For her first three years, Whitley never chose anything but children's church music. In addition to loving music, Whitley is very "domestic." She enjoys helping Colleen cook, fold laundry, and clean. But more than anything, she loves playing mommy, "taking care of" her baby dolls and favorite stuffed animals. We are sure Whitley will make a wonderfully nurturing big sister!
Child Care
Long before we were married, we determined Bill would work to support our family and Colleen would remain at home to care for our children, at least until our youngest child turned eighteen years old. This is a very serious commitment we have made to each other, to our children, and to God, and one we continue to honor today. While Whitley enjoys such interaction with other kids, as in her weekly church Primary class, on play dates, and with other children when Colleen takes her along to visit friends who also have small children, we feel strongly that Colleen can best serve our children by being a full-time, stay-at-home mom for them. Our sacrifices of time, energy, and resources are great, but the blessings are undeniable! Already we are reaping tremendous payoffs in Whitley's health and behavior, our family relationships, and general home life.
Music
In this letter we have mentioned music several times. Yes, music is a very important part of our home and family! Here is something you might find interesting. In December 1995 we attended a live, solo concert of Colleen's favorite pianist, David Lanz. During the concert, Mr. Lanz provided commentary about many of the pieces he performed, all of which he had personally written. In introducing his song
Return to the Heart, he explained that he had written it for his dear wife who had recently been reunited briefly with a child she had placed for adoption many, many years before. Mr. Lanz's sincerity was so moving, and the song was so beautiful, that for Christmas that year Bill gave Colleen a copy of Mr. Lanz's CD
Return to the Heart, so we could always remember the title track, other favorite songs on it, and the concert we had enjoyed so much together. Eight and a half years later, when our little Whitley was born, (hoping she would develop a love of piano music like her parents), we played our David Lanz CD in the car, as we drove her home from the hospital. There in the car, the very first music Whitley ever heard was a song from the CD, called
Cristofori's Dream, written to honor the inventor of the piano. Our dear friend, we thought you'd like to know that if you choose us as adoptive parents, the very first music your baby will hear in our presence will be the song
Return to the Heart, a loving tribute to a birth mother who loved her baby so deeply, that she gave her the greatest gifts: life, love, and a family.
