David & Vonae are hopeful adoptive parents from Georgia waiting to adopt a baby.

If you are pregnant and considering placing your child for adoption, please read the following Dear Birthmother Letter.

Introduction Words cannot express the love and respect we have for you. We do not understand the emotions you must feel and the difficult decisions you have been faced with; we honor and love you for your courage and sacrifice in giving such precious gifts to this child. We are grateful for the miracle of adoption and the blessings for those it touches.

We are a family of four hoping for one more. We are a fun, crazy, spiritual, serious and silly family. Our favorite times are those spent together. We spent a week playing pirates complete with a cardboard pirate boat, a treasure map hunt, and a dinner with no silverware allowed. We spent a week as cowboys taking piggy back rides, eating “grub”, touring the local dairy farm, and playing in the tent. We’ve enjoyed day trips to the zoo, the swimming pool, the park, and even the strawberry farm (red, sticky fingers and homemade strawberry jam!). On the weekends the boys enjoy “Daddy Day” construction projects at Home Depot (starbursts if you’re good), projects in the yard, lego time, and running errands.

In our home kids can be kids, and play time is balanced with daily jobs, learning time, and scripture devotionals. We love to play hide and go seek, freeze tag, and Curious George bingo. We enjoy wrestling, bike riding, reading stories, singing songs, sliding down our hill, and going on adventures. We are striving to fortify our family with family prayer, scripture time, weekly church attendance, and providing service to others.

We adopted both of our boys and enjoy the semi-open line of communication we have with both of our birthmothers. It’s important to us for our boys and birthmothers to know what is going on in each others lives - to the extent that our birthmother is comfortable with, and we look forward to having another birthmother to love.

About our Family We have been married for over 13 years and have two boys, both adopted. Samuel is 7 and all boy. He is our future engineer and football line backer. He is curious and creative, loves to put things together in new ways and invent new uses for old things. He thrives around other children, and is very sensitive to others feelings and needs. He is doing great in school and really enjoys family time. Nicolas is 4 and loves to make us laugh. He has a light and happy zest for life. He loves music including playing the piano, singing, and dancing. He is a great ball player (throw, catch, kick, bat – you name it he’ll do it) and he is our cuddle bug. His favorite time is "nah nah boo boo" (translated: chase dad around the bed before bedtime.) He loves to share his things with others and is happy when he makes others happy.

About us We both served full-time missions for our church, David in Thailand, and Vonae in Japan. David has a Master of Public Administration and is working in state government in the area of financial management. Vonae graduated with a degree in Math and taught algebra in a middle school for a few years and then worked in the educational software business. David has a good job and we manage our finances so that we are able to live on one income. Vonae chooses to be at home with our children as they develop the emotional, intellectual, and spiritual foundation upon which their entire future builds, but still keeps her skills sharp by doing a little math tutoring on the side.

from Vonae:

David is a truly wonderful man. David makes us all pancakes or French toast before going to work once or twice a week. He tries to be home for family dinner and to play with the kids before bed, even when it means bringing work home to finish up. He has spent hours playing legos with Sam and often takes Nic on a walk or bike ride before dinner. He volunteers several hours of his time a week serving as a leader for the teenage boys in our church. He spends time each week sharing his amazing tenor singing voice with the church choir, and he works out by swimming laps or playing a rugged and sometimes aggressive version of water polo with a few other guys. He is kind, nonjudgmental, and free of envy like his Dad, and organized, hard working, and diligent like his Mom. To me the greatest aspect of David is that he LOVES his family. He always puts us first, in every decision, in every thought, in every need. He is a wonderful and beloved husband, father, and man.

from David:

One thing that makes Vonae so amazing is her ability to connect with others. Vonae lights up the room and is the center of fun when others are around. She loves and accepts others unconditionally. She is bold and beautiful. Vonae is very logical and loves math. All is right in her universe when she can tutor someone in algebra or work with someone on a difficult word problem. She is not one sided. She also loves to read and enjoys the arts – especially musicals. When she was younger she enjoyed being in plays and has always enjoyed singing and playing the piano. Vonae’s creativity really shows in all the activities and the way she cares for our children.
A little Family History David:
I am the youngest of eight children. Growing up I played with trucks and Hot Wheels (still have them), played dress up with my sisters, played little league baseball, high school football, was captain of the high school swim team, and love winter and water sports of all kinds. My sisters and my mom taught me to appreciate the softer side of life as well. I love to sing, cook, go to symphonies and art events and even shop (in short spurts). My wife tells me I got the best of both of my parents. I am kind, nonjudgmental, and free of envy like my Dad, and organized, hard working, and diligent like my Mom. My parents both have advanced degrees – Mom has a master’s degree in speech pathology and audiology and my Dad went to law school. Attaining as much education as possible is a tradition that runs deep in my family. When we have free time we enjoy traveling, camping, shopping, home improvement projects, anything Asian, and hanging out on the floor playing together as a family.

Vonae:
I am the second oldest of 8 kids: 4 brothers, 2 half-brothers, and 1 sister. I had a wonderful childhood full of fun, play, and work. When I was 11 my Mom, a woman of grace and poise and a very talented mother passed away. It was a challenging time for us but brought us closer together. Being the oldest girl I assumed many extra responsibilities until my dad remarried. I am blessed to be loved by two wonderful mothers, my birth mother and my mother. I am doubly loved. My Mom and I are very close friends; she is patient, wise and polished. And I always wanted to be like my dad: strong, happy, positive, and caring. I enjoy music, reading, theater, mathematics, science, and outdoor activities such as skiing and hiking. I love to have fun and David says I light up the room and am the center of fun when others are around. I love being with people – the bigger the group the better. I spend my time playing with our boys. It is important to me to be there for my children all the time, to provide a comfortable and welcoming home where our family always knows that they are loved and accepted. My 7 siblings are great aunts and uncles especially since many of them are new parents themselves, and we love being together. I believe in Jesus Christ and love Him. I am grateful for all that He has done for me, and hope to serve Him to the best of my abilities.
