Michael & Abigail are hopeful adoptive parents from Virginia waiting to adopt a baby.
If you are pregnant and considering placing your child for adoption, please read the following Dear Birthmother Letter.

Hello!
We are Abbie and Mike – and we want to tell you about ourselves in order to help you make your difficult choices somewhat easier. Thank you for taking the time to open your hearts to us; we hope that you feel you get a true picture of who we are and what kind of parents we would be to your beautiful child.
We have been married for 7 years, and together as a couple for ten. We have a fantastic friendship, and a love of fun and adventure. We have learned a lot in our marriage and feel we have become better people through our love for each other.
Home is where the Heart is
Both of us are in the Navy and have traveled to new places every few years, picking up more and more friends along the way. We have been in Japan, Southeast Asia, California, Illinois, and have now made our home in Virginia. We are blessed to have had these experiences and to have met and fostered so many wonderful friendships along the way. We love our current situation – we live in a historic district in a truly welcoming neighborhood. We are very active in the community. We are only a short walk to local restaurants, a local movie theater, and most importantly the children’s museum. Our new neighborhood has a mix of ages, a mix of cultures, and children from many different backgrounds. We know your baby would be loved and accepted by friends and neighbors alike.
What we do for a living
Mike is a physician in the field of dermatology. He loves his work and his interaction with patients. They are always complimenting his thorough care, delivered with a friendly disposition – he is always ready with a smile. It is also important to him to stay up to date on the latest changes in his field. He loves to share his knowledge through teaching medical students and residents. He is a natural leader, and encourages and inspires his staff, students and patients to do better and to reach higher.
Abbie is a family nurse practitioner, and she loves the one-on-one relationship with her patients, and the ability to partner with them to get the best outcomes for their health. Her patients compliment her ability to put them at ease, and get to the heart of what troubles them. She is truly dedicated to caring for her patients, and they feel this come through at every visit.
Our Daily Life
At home, we like to work in the garden. Mike enjoys keeping up with the maintenance on our 100 plus year old house (he’s very handy with tools, both automated and old-fashioned). We enjoy the company of two lay-about dogs, who between their combined 40 pound weight, spend all day dozing on their beds, begging for food, and chasing our cats. Our two cats love human contact, but not too much! We love to sit on our front porch and say hello to the neighbors, read good books, play games, hike and enjoy the outdoors, have friends over for dinner, cook together, and bake – who can resist the smell of fresh-baked cookies in the house?
Our Family
Both of us have quite a bit of diversity in our families – in terms of religion, culture, political viewpoints – and this makes for fun and challenging conversations during our family visits. But no matter whether Buddhist or Christian, Venezuelan or Ukrainian, Democrat or Libertarian, we all come together in raucous laughter over the roasted Thanksgiving turkey. And everyone, of every stripe, is so excited that we are on this adoption journey, and cannot wait for the arrival of a baby to coo over and cradle and cuddle.
Our Promise to You
We just want you to know that we will love your child unconditionally and we will always be there for her as she grows and asks questions and explores the world. We will provide limits in a kind, consistent way, and your child will always know the story of his origins. We will honestly provide a context for his identity, and we will keep in touch with photos and letters as much as you are comfortable with.
Hopefully you feel that you know us a little better now. Please know that we will be eternally grateful for the gift that you provide to us. Trust us when we say that we already have a whole shelf-full of stuffed animals of varying sizes and shapes from friends and family in preparation for a child to grow up with!
We wish you peace and a clear heart as you make this decision.
Warmly,
Abbie and Mike
