If you are pregnant and considering placing your child for adoption, please read the following Dear Birthmother Letter.

Who We Are
Dear Birth parents,
We are grateful to you for choosing adoption. We cannot express how much appreciation we have for you and for the good choices you are making. We thank you for looking at our profile.
We looked up heroism in the dictionary and one definition included the qualities of “courage, bravery, fortitude, and unselfishness.”
You are our hero.
We are an outgoing couple who love to laugh and make jokes. We met at Brigham Young University and first fell in love because we both spoke German. We love everything German, food, music, and culture. Doug lived his high school years in Austria. Marianne took a year off school to be a nanny for 5 children in Germany. We love to travel and plan on living in Germany again someday.
What is Marianne like?
Marianne is reserved when you first meet her but as soon as she is comfortable she becomes the life of the party. Marianne is dependable, comical, and a compassionate woman. Her main goal in life is to make people laugh and feel loved. She is smart and absorbs knowledge like a sponge.
She is also a great organizer. She loves to plan road trips, camping, or last minute adventures hiking. Marianne enjoys sports especially, running, swimming, or playing volleyball. She has helped coach Basketball and Volleyball teams and hopes to continue to do so.
Since we moved to Colorado, Marianne has taken up running. Together we have completed a dozen races. During the summer months Marianne signs us up for a different community race every month.
Marianne wants to be a mom. She enjoyed her experience with her 5 nanny children and wants to share those experiences with your child. She wants to be there to cuddle, kiss owies, tell bedtime stories, bake cookies and laugh so hard that we both can’t breathe. She wants to see life through the eyes of child, like when you see a butterfly for the first time, or when you jump in puddles together or catch snowflakes on your tongue.
Tell me about Doug
Doug enjoys spending time with kids. At family reunions or church activities he usually can be found on the floor playing with them. He enjoys engaging their imagination when he plays with them. Our nieces and nephews favorite game to play is BUG, a game Doug made up. The children choose a bug and then hide while the bug catcher tries to find them.
Doug loves to spend time outside, whether it is in the garden or helping with a service project. He also enjoys playing board games, reading books, or creating masterpieces with pudding. As a child, Doug tended to read a lot and enjoyed journeying into make-believe worlds by authors like Roald Dahl or Beverly Cleary.
Doug's profession is a product designer. He has designed watches, scientific equipment and household products. He understands colors, texture, materials and is very creative. He can create anything he can think up and can finish the projects Marianne starts. He loves acting and has been involved in over 40 stage productions. His favorite roles include Sir Evelyn Oakleigh in Anything Goes and Papa Ge in Once on this Island.
Doug is an honest, trustworthy, reliable, always positive attitude man, which makes him well liked by everyone he meets. He moved often as a child which helps him make friends easily and keeps in touch with many of them.
What goes on at our house?
When we got married we thought we would have 5 children as we both are from large families. For last 5 years we have been preparing to have a large family. After finding out we could not conceive on our own, we turned our attention to adopting.
We first started by adopting a springer spaniel, who we named, Lady. She is spoiled dog, who Doug walks twice a day in the open space near our home. Lady loves to see wildlife scurry or flutter as we stir the grasses. One memorable time Lady scared up a huge owl and it surprised us by following us home. It was like a scene from Harry Potter.
We love to work on projects together from sunup to sundown. We have spent much of our time growing our vegetable garden. We raise our seedlings indoors and then plant them outside when the weather is warm. We love to pick and eat our fresh cantaloupe or make pickles with our cucumbers.
Together we enjoy dancing. Doug took dance classes in College and Marianne learns by following him. Our time spent indoors is usually around a table playing a board or card game. We are both competitive and love the thrill of a win. We enjoy cooking, singing, or talking until we fall asleep. We love attending our large family reunions each summer. With Doug's extended family there is usually a talent show and a water fight but not usually at the same time. With Marianne's extended family there is usually a basketball game and a river float trip.
We hope you have enjoyed a peek into our lives and can see what makes us who we are. We hope that some of the ideas and aspirations we have are what you want your baby to experience, and if so, we look forward to meeting you and getting to know you.
Sincerely,
Doug and Marianne
