Our Letter of Love
Hi! We are Flavio, Niki and Hannah. We are a loving family of three who want so badly to have another child. We first want to tell you that we can't even imagine the struggles you have been through. You must be very mature and very full of love to even be thinking of placing your precious child with another family. We hope that your journey will be one that helps you to love the adoption process and that whomever you chose, you will be blessed with peace of mind and know of the love the family has for you for being so selfless and giving them a precious baby, something they couldn't provide on their own. We hope and pray that you will choose us, but we want you to know that there are many wonderful families who will give your baby a safe and wonderful home and life. And we hope that you will find that special family for your baby.
Why adoption?
We want to also share a little bit about why we are adopting, especially since we already have a beautiful little girl. When we first got married we wanted to have children. Niki had already graduated from college with a bachelor*s degree and Flavio was able to get a good job. Niki wanted to be a stay-at-home mother and so we prepared and planned for this to happen. However, after many months of trying to get pregnant, we found out through doctors that we couldn't have children without a very expensive procedure called in-vitro. This was a very difficult and trying experience, as we had to go through the procedure three times before we were able to have Hannah. After Hannah turned one, we tried in-vitro again, and again it didn't work. We were devastated. We were not sure where to turn, so we prayed. Both of us knew right away that God wanted us to adopt our next child. With new excitement and hope we began this journey and pray that we will be able to share our love with another beautiful child very soon.
Flavio and Niki
First, I want to tell you about my husband Flavio. When Flavio was nine, his family moved from Brazil to Utah. He immediately fell in love with baseball. It is truly one of his passions. He loves and plays many sports. One of his favorite teams is the Lakers. I have to admit, I hate the Lakers, so we are constantly cheering for opposite teams when it comes to basketball. Flavio also loves computers and technology. He has a bachelor's degree in Information Technology and works as the Director of Technology for his company. He loves his job, as it is in the security field. He loves the show, "24" and I think he secretly wishes he could work with Jack Bauer from that show. Flavio is very smart. Not only does he speak Portuguese and English but he also speaks fluent Spanish. He loves learning. He loves to watch documentaries. He always wants me to sit down and watch things like, "The Parallel Universe", or something on time travel. I never want to, but sometimes I will sit and watch and then I end up liking it :) I also want to let you know that Flavio is a man of faith. He loves God and serves Him diligently. His spirit is strong and he is very likable. He is loved by many. I also love his smile, this was one of the first things I noticed about him. His smile is so contagious. When Flavio smiles, his whole face smiles, in fact his eyes seem to disappear. People will joke with him and tell him not to smile while he is crossing the street. Flavio truly is the love of my life. I love him very much. Our daughter Hannah loves him dearly as well. He is very involved with Hannah and plays and reads and helps take care of her. He has no problem changing diapers and getting up with her in the night if she has a bad dream. Flavio is filled with so much love and I know he wants to share that love with more children. He is a wonderful man and he will make sure any child that comes into our home feels and knows that they are dearly loved.
My wife, Niki, loves children. She has always wanted to be a mother and stay home with her children. Niki is an only child, and so I feel she wants to make sure that her children have siblings, as that is what she always wanted. Niki is a very artistic and creative person. She keeps scrapbooks and writes poetry. She is a very talented artist and has recently started photography. She takes thousands of pictures of our daughter, and frankly our daughter is sick of it. Hannah will be looking down at whatever she is doing and just say, "cheese." We both laugh at this as Niki is certain to take as many pictures with all of our children and she fears our family pictures will start to get really difficult. Niki is also very smart. Niki spent some time in Japan and can now speak Japanese. She has a bachelor's degree in International Communications and places a strong emphasis on education. In fact while we were trying to have our first child she was the Director of a literacy center, where she along with many volunteers, helped children and adults learn how to read. She continues to volunteer at our local elementary a few hours a week working with children who are struggling with their reading skills. Niki is also a woman of faith. She loves God and looks to Him often. She serves others around her and tries to set a good example of love and service to our daughter. Niki, like I said, is very creative. She has done such a great job on decorating our home, we get many compliments on it. Niki is also teaching Hannah how to read and write. Hannah can now write the letter, "H". And she knows most of her sounds. Niki is a devoted mother. She wants her children to have everything they need. She is a great woman and a great mother. I love her with all of my heart. She is my life and I can't imagine any child having a better mother.
Our Family
We hope that we have given you a little more information of who we are. We truly love one another and we really love life. We have many wonderful things to offer our children. We both have educations; we have our own beautiful home, and a lot of love to offer. Our goals in life are the same, we value family, religion and gaining a better education. We will encourage our children to do the same.
As a family we have many loving family members around us: grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and, of course, our immediate families. All of these people are close to us and want what is best for our children and for us.
We are also able to travel. Flavio's work sends us on a trip once or twice a year. We were just able to go to Disneyland last year. We were also able to go to Cancun, Mexico and had a wonderful time. We also have the opportunity to go visit Flavio's family in Hawaii. We both met there while we were going to school, so it is great to go back and visit.
We are very blessed and very happy. We hope that the children that come into our home will know of our love for them and we promise to give them all that they need and desire in this life.
We hope that you have enjoyed reading a little more about us. Again, we want you to know that we have a lot of respect for you and can't imagine all the emotions that you may be feeling right now. We are very excited to meet who ever chooses us and we can't wait to get to know and love them. We hope that we can provide everything that our birth mother wants for her baby and that she will know she placed her baby into very loving arms. We will do everything we can to make sure who ever chooses us will feel good about her decision and know that her and her baby are truly loved.
With love,
Flavio, Niki and Hannah
