Peter & Cindy are hopeful adoptive parents from Illinois waiting to adopt a baby.
If you are pregnant and considering placing your child for adoption, please read the following Dear Birthmother Letter.

Dear Birthmother,
Thank you for taking the time to learn a little bit about us while you are deciding the future of your baby.
Regardless of whom you pick, thank you for your unselfish act of choosing life for your baby. We really do appreciate you considering us as possible parents to your child. We understand this must be a difficult choice for you, and admire and respect your loving, courageous decision to place your baby in an adoptive family.
Our names are Peter & Cindy and we are so looking forward to becoming parents. We have always planned on having children. When we first married, we thought that even if we could have biological children, we would also want to eventually adopt. However, God has had a different plan for us since we have not been able to conceive. We are thrilled to bring a child into our home through adoption.
We met at our Church Youth Group during High School and became friends. Several years later, we started dating in college, married about a year after graduation, and have been growing more in love with each other everyday! We spend a lot of time together and have a lot in common. Some activities we enjoy doing together include going for long walks, bike riding, canoeing, boating, gardening, hiking, as well as spending time with friends and family. We have been doing a lot of traveling around the world and renovating our home to make it a wonderful place to raise a family. During these travels we have learned how truly blessed we are and we want to do everything we can to help others achieve their own dreams to build a better life for themselves. We are very involved in Church activities to help build our community, and we volunteer to build houses together for Habitat for Humanity to make sure that others also have a great place to raise their family too. We really love traveling together, whether it is visiting family and friends, or exploring interesting places and countries. We are eager to share these adventures with an adopted child.

About Cindy...
I am one of two daughters. My parents recently celebrated 40 years of being married and live nearby. As we grew up, we were involved with Brownies, Girl Scouts, playing baseball, badminton, fishing, trying different musical instruments, ballet and bike riding. One of my favorite early memories is taking our yearly family vacation to Wisconsin and staying at the cottage. We loved being on the water, viewing the beautiful sunsets, and exploring nature. That is why, now that I am married, I still look forward to traveling with my parents and my sister back to the same area every year and building future memories with my husband.
My sister has always been a single mother. My husband and I, as well as my own parents, spent a lot of time to help her through the daily struggles to raise a son on her own. For many years, she and her son used to live with my parents (in a neighboring town) and we all loved being together and we all collectively pitched in to help. Several years ago, she moved to Wisconsin to start a new life in an area that was more affordable with a better job. One of the reasons we love to vacation with her and our nephew is to spend a lot of quality time with my sister’s son while we are there. Our nephew still spends time staying with us during the summer and on some weekends. We enjoy spending time with him so much that we’ve even taken him on vacations to Philadelphia, California, France and Portugal.
Some of my hobbies include gardening, bike-riding, walking & playing with our dog, boating, snorkeling, exercising, traveling, photography, putting photo albums together, making cards, doing calligraphy, decorating for the holidays and throwing parties for celebrations. I also enjoy baking, cooking, and learning about nutrition.
I was raised in a Christian home and was taken to a local Lutheran Church as a young child. While in High School, I decided to make my relationship with God more important. I now enjoy volunteering for things through our church or other charities.
After I received my Associates Degree in Liberal Arts, I continued college knowing that I wanted to become a teacher, and specialize in Early Childhood Education. Right after college, I got a job teaching young children and completely loved it. Over the years, I have taught pre-school, Kindergarten and First Grade. I loved having the chance to care for and nurture children, to help them expand their horizons, and to help them gain a love for learning new things.
I love helping children learn about their world. As a teacher, in addition to science, math, reading and making crafts, I enjoy teaching about health, nutrition, cooking, technology, nature, the ocean, taking care of our earth, and learning about other countries as well as our own.
I am looking forward to teaching our future child about this wonderful world someday. I had great relationships with both the students and their parents as I continue to keep in touch with many of them. I have made such strong friendships with these families over the years that we even asked two of my former students to be in our wedding as the flower girl and ring bearer!
Peter says that every year I would work about 10% more than the previous year and eventually I was working 200%! This was work that I loved doing since every child deserves to have a great education and I truly love children! A few years ago, I resigned from teaching in order to prepare myself for being a stay-at-home Mom. I now know that I am ready for this exciting journey in our lives. We used to think that my long hours at work might be the cause of us not being able to get pregnant. Unfortunately after several more years of trying while I was taking time off, we have realized that the stress from work was not the cause of our infertility.
I feel so thankful to have such a wonderful husband to share my life with. I am so proud of him all the time, as he is intelligent, genuine, funny, caring, romantic, loving, athletic, and very talented with so many things. I know he will be a truly amazing dad. He loves children, and it is obvious that they really like him since children often flock to him at family/friend get-togethers. Peter likes to be silly with kids and make them laugh. He has also been an incredible role-model for my nephew who does not have a dad.
About Peter...
I am one of 3 siblings. I have an older brother who lives less than an hour away, and a younger sister who lives in Nashville, Tennessee. My parents have been married for over 40 years and they live in the town next to us. I grew up having a lot of fun and a lot of freedom since my parents raised us well and trusted us to do the right thing. I played almost every kind of sport while I was growing up including football, gymnastics, wrestling, swimming, diving, tennis, baseball and track. Even today, I love to get out and be very active with hiking, rock climbing, trail-riding on my bicycle and playing volleyball, badminton and tennis as well as other sports. I enjoy fixing things around the house and doing woodworking as well as remodeling projects.
I have a very exciting career working for a high technology company that develops cell phones, computers and communication equipment. In order to do this kind of job I have completed an undergraduate Business Degree from the University of Iowa, as well as a Master Degree specializing in Project Management from George Washington University. In case that sounds too boring, I also received a minor degree in Child Psychology since I think it is really fun to see how a child’s mind works and grows!
I was raised in a Christian home, and living a God loving lifestyle has always been a priority to me and for multiple generations before me. I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful legacy of faith. My family originally worshiped in a Methodist denomination church, but just before entering high school, my family switched to a larger non-denominational church that had a better youth group. I am a huge believer in second chances and forgiveness. Since I know that God loves us all so much, I believe we should love those around us in the same way.
With my job, I have been fortunate to travel around the world to work in many countries in Europe and in Asia. Because of the many wonderful experiences I’ve had, we’ve enjoyed using our extra income to visit many of these places on vacation too!
There are a few things that I think you should know about Cindy. She is an amazingly talented woman who easily impresses everyone she meets. She is an awesome wife, a terrific baker & cook, and she has more energy than anyone I know. God has softened her heart to genuinely reach out to others in kindness, empathy and care. As Cindy taught children of many ages, she has received dozens and dozens of thank you notes from the parents of the children. I absolutely love to hear these parents raving about how Cindy has positively impacted the lives of so many children. Many of the parents have told me that the children often beg them on Saturdays and Sundays, to be brought to school so that they can see “Miss Cindy” because they miss her. I am so excited to soon be able to see her put her energy, talent, care and love into the future of a child that we are allowed to adopt and raise together. Cindy is going to be an awesome mom. We hope and pray that you would give us the chance to give a child a great future!
Our life together
Our little dog LuLu...
We both love animals & we think having pets is beneficial to children as they grow up. Our little dog has brought us so much joy over the last couple years, & we consider her to be part of the family. She is very smart, adventurous & loving. We have enjoyed teaching her many tricks & we are always amazed how many things she can remember. Lulu is so popular with the neighborhood kids they sometimes come over just to play with her! We even invited some of her favorite young fans over to celebrate her first & second birthday! We know that any children we bring into our home will love her as much as we do. We also know that the love we have for our sweet puppy is just a small fraction of the deep love we will feel for any child that we may be blessed with in our future.
Family...
Family is very important to us, and we are so thankful to have such wonderful, loving family members in our lives. Both sets of our parents live within twenty minutes of us and we know they will be ecstatic to have more grandchildren to love.
Our siblings live a little further away, but still close enough that we make sure to see them often, especially at holidays. We love spending time with our niece and nephews, and they often ask us when there will be another cousin in the family! We are also close with our cousins and the children they are starting to have. We are honored to have been chosen to be God Parents to one of our cousin’s only child. We also have family members and several friends who are planning to adopt or have adopted recently. We think having other people in our lives that we are close to and are also adopting will definitely be a positive impact on us and a child that we adopt. We are really excited to have our family grow and we know that we have so much love to share. The child we adopt will feel the love and support of two parents, doting grandparents, many aunts, uncles and cousins. Each and every member of our family is eager to welcome a child into the family.
Our home & neighborhood...
We live in a great community & love our friendly, safe neighborhood. We know many of our neighbors, & it is filled with children. We enjoy having neighbors over for dinner parties & have helped to plan neighbor block parties. We live across the street from a big open park, & have several other parks within a 5 minute walking distance. There are nearby creeks, forest preserves, & a bike path. We live in a charming, two-story Victorian style home that we put a lot of love & work into through the years. Our library room is filled with well over 1,000 children’s books!
In our yard, we have many flower gardens & a vegetable garden. In the summertime, we enjoy eating dinner outside on our deck or on one of our two flagstone patios. We welcome a lot of wildlife into our yard, including many different types of birds, & sometimes even deer that enjoy munching from our apple & pear tree.
