Jared & Mary are hopeful adoptive parents from Utah waiting to adopt a baby.

If you are pregnant and considering placing your child for adoption, please read the following Dear Birthmother Letter.

DEAR BIRTHPARENT Dear Birthparent and Family,

We admire the faith and courage you must have to consider placing a child for adoption. We look forward to getting to know you and want our child to know the birthparent who gave them life and made the miracle of their adoption possible. But first, we’d like to share a little bit about ourselves.

Jared and I will have been married ten years this spring! We have always wanted to have children, but . our plans of how and when that was to happen were different from what God had in store for us. Before our daughter came into our lives we were foster parents. Our first placement was a three-year-old boy and our second placement was a four-month old baby girl. It was very hard to say goodbye to each of our foster children after becoming attached, but we learned a lot from both children and we will always hold a special place for them in our hearts.

In 2007 our dream of having a child of our own became a reality thanks to a wonderful birthmother. Madison joined our family through adoption and she is the light and joy of our life! We feel very strongly that there are more children out there waiting to join our family so we have started another adoption journey in the hopes that Maddie can be a big sister by the time she is three years old or sooner!

This past November we welcomed our third foster placement into our home- a baby boy. It’s been a lot of fun having a baby in our home again and it will be hard to have to say goodbye to him in the Spring when he is scheduled to leave our care and return to his family. Nonetheless, It has been a great experience for us and Madison has certainly gotten plenty of practice in as a big sister whenever she helps to feed him, play with him, or make him laugh and smile.
ABOUT US MARY’S THOUGHTS ABOUT JARED:

Jared and I were set up on a blind date by a mutual friend. After getting to know each other better through several more dates, we quickly became good friends and fell in love. In fact, just six months after our first date we were married! The things that attracted me most to Jared was the way he treated me, his sense of humor, and how much my nieces and nephews liked him. I predicted he would make a great dad and I was right! As a father Jared is gentle, loving, playful, and protective.

Jared is a very hard worker whether it be at his profession, in his church callings, or around the house and yard. Jared earned a bachelors degree in Criminal Law and he works for a government agency as an Investigator which makes his job pretty interesting. He enjoys studying U.S. History, the Constitution, and keeping up with current events (news junkie)! Jared enjoys the outdoors- he became an Eagle Scout when he was thirteen years old and he was a recreation minor in college. Jared currently serves as a Scoutmaster for our local boy scout troop and his favorite outdoor activities are camping, golfing, skiing, running, and barbecuing.

I appreciate the fact that Jared is very “balanced” in his life. Although he is very responsible and works hard, he also knows how to relax and have fun.

JARED’S THOUGHTS ABOUT MARY:

What I like most about Mary is her ability to make anyone feel comfortable and important. She is naturally friendly and has a great quality of bringing out the best in others. Mary loves children and they love her- my nieces bonded to her as soon as they met her and it was not surprising to me when she was called to be in the Primary Presidency of our ward.

Mary loves reading and learning new things. She has earned two bachelors degrees- one in Sociology and one in Human Development and Family Studies. Her favorite thing to study is people and she is particularly interested in social problems that effect children and families. Mary has lived in both Eastern and Western Europe and she enjoys learning about different cultures and customs. Mary’s favorite jobs have been working at the library and tutoring children in our home. She currently works as a full-time mom but she would love to go back to school and get a Master’s Degree after our children are raised.

Mary enjoys the outdoors, but she prefers warm, sunny weather. She served a mission in Tucson Arizona and actually liked the heat! Her favorite outdoor activities are going on walks, working in the yard, and taking Maddie to the park. Her favorite indoor hobbies are scrap booking, blogging, and playing the piano.
OUR HOBBIES One of our favorite things to do together is traveling. Some of the places we’ve traveled together since we’ve been married are Alaska, Hawaii, British Columbia, New York, and Washington D.C. Since Madison was born we’ve taken her to see the Grand Canyon, Mt. Rushmore and Yellowstone National Park. We look forward to traveling with our children in the future, whether it be to Disneyland or just a weekend road trip or campout in the mountains.

When we’re in the mood to take it easy we enjoy watching movies- the hard part is deciding what to see: Jared prefers action/adventure and suspense, but Mary usually wants to see the latest romantic comedy or a moving drama. We usually end up compromising and settling on a good comedy, which is always something we can both agree on.
FAMILY BACKGROUND OUR FAMILIES:

Jared is the only boy in his family and the youngest of four children. (Can you say “spoiled”?!) Jared became an uncle for the first time when he was just nine years old and he and his three older sisters are very close. His family enjoys monthly dinners and annual vacations together. His parents live just twenty minutes away from us.

Mary comes at the end of her family as well- she is the sixth of seven children. She and her twin brother are the "babies" of their family which consists of five girls and two boys. Mary enjoys getting together with her parents & her siblings and their families for holidays and reunions. Family is important to Mary so it’s not surprising that she never forgets a birthday and is often the one to initiate or organize family get-togethers. Three times a year she also compiles the family newsletter for her side of the family to make sure that everyone is caught up with each other.

OUR LITTLE PRINCESS:

We can’t imagine what our life would be like without Madison. We truly believe that she is a gift from God, which is what her name means. Madison is not only cherished by us, but as the youngest grandchild on both sides of our family she is spoiled and doted upon by grandparents, aunts, uncles, and over thirty cousins!

Maddie is a delightful little girl who likes to spend her time reading books with mommy (going to the library to replenish our supply of board books is a weekly MUST for us), playing with play-dough, coloring, singing songs, having play dates with cousins and friends, and of course, visiting grandma’s house. She looks forward to starting pre-school in the fall.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know us. One of our favorite scriptures says, "Look unto me in every thought. Doubt not, fear not." As we've put our trust in Heavenly Father he has given us the guidance we've needed to start our family. We believe that as you put your trust in Him he will lead you and provide you with all the support you need at this time as well. Please know that our prayers are with you.

Sincerely,
Jared and Mary
