Matthew & Reneeprofile id #23361
Matthew & Renee are hopeful adoptive parents from Massachusetts waiting to adopt a baby.
If you are pregnant and considering placing your child for adoption, please read the following Dear Birthmother Letter.

Welcome!
We are so grateful that you are considering adoption! We really respect your desire to give the best to your baby and feel it shows the courage, love, and commitment you have for your child’s welfare. For that we thank you, and pray that you may have the guidance of Heaven in making your choice.
Our names are Matthew and Renee, and we are very excited to welcome a child into our home through adoption because we cannot have children ourselves. We both really love kids and have spent a lot of time with them. Renee is naturally a very nurturing person, and she has a talent for caring for children. She has the ability to love them unconditionally, and she is really good at teaching little kids as well. We have many nieces and nephews, and Renee can frequently be found just talking to each of them or participating in creative play. Matthew is a very happy and outgoing person who laughs often. He LOVES to find ways to make children laugh and is frequently caught playing goofy games with kids of all ages in hopes of making them happy. In fact, several of his nephews’ favorite games were invented when Matthew was visiting, and they have never wanted to stop playing them. Matthew also teaches church songs to primary children (3 to 12 years old) each week. Renee works with the leaders of the primary children at various congregations throughout the greater Boston area teaching them how to best teach the children about Jesus. She is very good at teaching the truths of the Gospel even to very young children.
We feel particularly lucky during this time in our lives because we both have flexible schedules and work primarily from home. Matt is getting his PhD at MIT, and Renee owns a business doing windshield repair. We are able to spend a lot of time together during the day, whether we are working side by side on our different projects, or having Renee read to Matt in the evening while he works on his computer model. It also allows us to take short breaks and talk and interact in a way that wouldn’t be possible if we worked in two separate locations. When we have children, Renee will stop working to be a full-time mom, but Matt will still be able to work from home and share in the precious first memories and experiences of our child.
We both love spending time with our families and want to have a large family of our own. We are excited to be parents and look forward to this great blessing. Feel free to call us at 1-877-630-0853.
About Matthew
HOW MATT SEES HIMSELF
One night at college, my roommate and good friend and I lay in our beds talking into the late hours of the night. We were having yet another conversation about girls, dating, and our futures. After I asked him what he thought I’d do with my life, he said, “You know, you are an interesting case. You are smart, and kind of a nerd, but you also love business, and you love people, and know how to relate to people. You’re not like the typical engineers I know.” I really think that he was right: I love science and engineering, and inventing and making things, but I also like to be with people, and am very extroverted.
I served a mission in Minnesota & Wisconsin several years ago, and upon my return I went to school for a degree in Chemical Engineering at BYU. I loved college, and spent most of my time hanging out with good friends, planning group activities, skiing, studying, and just enjoying life. I also loved to play piano and fiddle, and even played in a few bands while at BYU. In fact, this song you're listening to, Ants Marching by Dave Matthews, was the first song I played in a band. Being cheered on by massive crowds of screaming people after playing the fiddle solo was enough of an ego trip to keep me playing for years! All around, college was a great time of my life! After that, I decided to go to grad school, and on a whim applied to MIT, thinking I’d never get in. Well, not only did I get in, but in coming here to school, I met my beautiful wife, so I couldn’t be more excited about Boston!
I am a very enthusiastic person and I find it very hard to be down. Renee often tells me that it’s hard to know when I’m upset or disappointed, because even when I am, I’m “more upbeat than most regular people are.” I love to laugh, and do it often. In fact, one of my friends in my program here at MIT is from Italy, and he told me, “When I first got here, I didn’t know what to think when I met you… I thought all Americans laughed all the time… I could hear you laughing all the way down the hall and in the other room!” I love not just to laugh, but to laugh with other people, even if it’s at my expense occasionally. A good example is when I went skiing with some friends in Idaho last year. I was going to show them how to do a ski jump well, but before I even left the ground, one of my skis got stuck and came off. As soon as I realized that, I let out a not-so-manly yelp, and then plowed into the snow. My buddies laughed about that and razzed me for weeks, and I just laughed right along with them. In fact, the clip is below, so if you are interested, make sure to turn off the music at the bottom of the page and take a peak. Go ahead; laugh a little if you think it’s funny. That’s the kind of fun and laughing that I just love to have in my life.
I firmly believe in God, and I know that he has helped me and lifted me in many ways. If it weren’t for His love and guidance, I wouldn’t be where I am now. I feel strongly that it’s one of my missions in life to invent things and develop technology to help make other people happier and more comfortable, and that’s my primary focus in my work and schooling. I believe strongly in family, and I plan on building love and memories with Renee and our children.
WHY RENEE LOVES MATT
Matthew is my best friend, and he is a really great friend. He is kind, caring, and a great listener. He is unvaryingly loyal and trustworthy, and he makes personal sacrifices to help me and to be with me. He is always playful and is so much fun to be around. He is optimistic and always makes me feel better when I am sad. He is the best husband ever! He is constantly thinking of ways to make me happy and does little things every day to show that he loves me. He keeps a chocolate stash hidden in the house just so when I tell him I am craving chocolate, he can give me some whenever my whim hits. I know that he is going to be an incredible father. We talk about our hopes and dreams for our future family and the kinds of things we want to do with our children. Matthew loves to hold and cuddle babies; he loves to plays games with children and to teach them funny phrases. He looks forward to taking our children to get their hair cut and then take them to the pet store to look at the pets and pick out a fish for our tank. He also loves to garden and imagines working with our children out in the yard every Saturday morning like he did with his dad. In short, Matthew is fun, smart, and good looking. What’s not to love?
About Renee
HOW RENEE SEES HERSELF
While hiking a remote part of the Great Wall, a friend admitted to me that upon seeing my long nails when we first met, she wrote me off as being a prissy girl who didn’t like the outdoors and was afraid to get her hands dirty. She said that throughout our trip to China, I had proved her wrong. Another friend described me like a vanilla dessert where upon eating it, you think you know what you are getting, but then you come upon pieces of spice and flavorful chunks that you weren’t expecting. They are good, but they come as a surprise because you are expecting vanilla. Throughout this site, you can start to get a good picture of the base flavor of my personality, so here I will attempt to describe more the full flavor that is Renee.
After college, I served a mission in southern California working among the South and Central American immigrants. I learned Spanish, which opened a new world to me. I loved the people, the music, and the food. Matt says that I have a lot of the spiciness of a Latina in me. I also learned that people, even across cultures, have similar desires and needs like being loved and appreciated.
In addition to latin music, I enjoy a wide variety of music. In high school, I listened to a lot of hard rock, alternative, and rap. In college, my roommates introduced me to country love ballads, and I have even attended the annual bluegrass festival in Maine several times. I like pop music and classical and a ton of songs from the genres in between. Basically, I like specific songs rather than a specific group of songs.
Kind of like my taste in music, I like to do a variety of different things and to try new things. I also love to do things spontaneously. Want to drive down to New York City and catch a show? I'm there. Want to leave everything behind and camp in the mountains for a weekend? You'll find me in the next campsite over. Want to fly to Europe? I know of some great places to stay—in castles! I think the combination of my experiences and learning is really why I have so many spicy bits and flavorful chunks. I invite you to contact us and find out more about the experiences and attributes that have added a bit of spice to this vanilla New England girl.
WHY MATT LOVES RENEE
Have you seen that girl? She is absolutely beautiful, inside and out. Renee is so kind, caring, and loving. She truly is a woman who knows how to nurture and love, and will frequently sacrifice her own needs to help me out. She loves God, and seeks to serve Him every day. She cares deeply for other people, and will often go to great lengths to sacrifice for others. She is very smart, and has a naturally inquisitive nature.
Renee is so fun! Whether we are exploring the outdoors together, vacationing in exotic places, or even just talking as we drive across the country, I love spending time with Renee. She is a very interesting person, and just talking to her often keeps me occupied for hours. On many occasions, the two of us will laugh together and have so much fun that it doesn’t matter what else we are doing. I also love being with her with children, and am amazed at how well she can communicate with and teach them.
Really, I love Renee because she is my perfect match. She is the perfect compliment to everything that I am, and I am a much better person just by being with her. In the many ways that I am weak, she is strong. The biggest problem that I’ve ever encountered in all our time together is that I don’t want to leave her! Even though it sounds sappy, she really is my soul-mate, and it was worth the wait to find her! Many people are shocked when we tell them it was only 4 months from meeting to marrying, but I guess we fit so well together, we just knew it was right from the beginning.
Hobbies & Family
HOBBIES AND INTERESTS
MATTHEW'S INTERESTS
Matt loves people! He loves to be with people, to talk to people, to watch people, and to be friends with lots of people. He's a total people person. He laughs often, and really likes making others laugh as well. It's probably his favorite thing to do! Matt's hobbies include skiing, rock climbing, kayaking, hiking, and just about any other outdoor activity. He enjoys music, and he plays both the piano and the violin. He also likes to read, to learn, and to do new things. He loves to go out, but he also likes an occasional night just watching a movie or reading a book.
Matt loves to play games. He likes playing all kinds of games with both family and friends, and he does like to win (which Renee doesn't always appreciate, because if he wins, she doesn't!) :) He likes going out to eat (food is a big passion of his), and he can often be found exploring and traveling to new places. He loves to work out and keep himself healthy by lifting weights and jogging. He loves basically all water sports (wake boarding, water skiing, jet skiing, etc.) although he's never done them consistently, since he's never owned a boat. Matt really loves making something out of nothing, like models, furniture, and starting businesses. He's quite good with animals, especially tropical fish. He has 3 different aquariums in our home, and he often breeds and sells different kinds of tropical fish to help pay for new fish.
RENEE'S INTERESTS
Renee loves to go exploring. Currently, her exploring usually includes visiting museums, seeing historical sites and beautiful architecture, going to theater and musical performances, finding cute little shops with unusual items, and really good restaurants. In the summer, she loves to explore the outdoors and go camping, hiking, rock climbing, and kayaking. She enjoys going to the beach and playing in the ocean as well as exploring the tide pools and rocky areas. In the winter, she likes skiing and sledding. She also likes to occasionally go horseback riding and water skiing. Renee also really loves people, and she can talk for hours to a good friend or to someone she just met. She loves to travel and has gone to Europe, Mexico, all around the Caribbean, and she even did study abroad in China.
At home, Renee has many interests to keep her occupied. She likes to paint and do interior and graphic designing. She is very hands on and her delicate nature belies her ability to do the manual labor often required for such projects. She enjoys music and likes to play the piano. She loves to read and learn about whatever is currently piquing her interest. She often gets so excited about something she doesn't know that she'll find books and internet sites and learn EVERYTHING about it! She then enjoys sharing what she has learned with Matt. Renee really likes to dance, particularly salsa dancing. She also likes keeping fit, field hockey, and fashion.
FAMILY INTERESTS
We feel strongly that family time is very important, and we make a real effort to spend lots of time together as a family each week. In the summers, we spend a lot of time outside sailing on the Charles River, playing Frisbee in the park, hiking, camping, and water skiing. In the winters, we go snow skiing and ice skating. We also like to go out to eat with friends and explore the various museums and neighborhoods in the city. We enjoy working out together during the week and find that it gives us time each day to focus on each other, and to just talk. We love to travel together and to explore new places, cultures, and destinations. While most of our trips have been to visit family or friends, we have also taken trips together to various places across the country, and hope to explore more foreign destinations in the future.
FAMILY
MATTHEW'S FAMILY
Matthew grew up in Utah with a large family. He has five siblings who were all 2-3 years apart in age. He has two older sisters, a younger sister, and two younger brothers. He loved being able to have friends at home to be with all the time. All of his family members loved spending time together, whether going on vacations, playing games, or even just talking and laughing long into the night. Part of why Matthew loved his large family was the closeness that his parents engendered among the siblings. In fact, even today, Matt and his siblings keep in contact through weekly emails, phone calls, and blogs. Currently, 3 of his 5 siblings are married, and they have a combined total of 7 nephews and 2 nieces. Matthew loves playing with all of them, and they love to be with Matthew as well. Matthew has a way of making children happy, and his siblings' children are no exception! Matthew's dad is a chemical engineer who worked as the general manager of an oil company for many years, and who now has started a couple of his own businesses. He's brilliant, and has a real talent for thinking outside the box to solve serious problems. Matthew's mom worked full time as a stay at home mom, and Matthew was careful to ensure that she got overtime hours! She taught all of the children about God and Jesus Christ, and was an example of faith and devotion to all of the kids. She is a very happy and friendly person, and she instilled that trait in many of her children. Matthew's oldest sister is married with 4 little boys, all under 6 years of age. His next oldest sister is married with 2 sons and 2 daughters, all under the age of 5. Matthew's immediate younger brother is also a chemical engineer, and his wife and cute 6 month old daughter recently moved to Texas. Matthew's two youngest siblings, (brother and sister) are both serving as full time missionaries. His brother is practically a neighbor in New Jersey, while his sister is working down in Brazil.
Matthew feels strongly that family is the most important thing in the world. Of all the dreams that he has, having a large family with loving relationships is the one he wants the very most. No matter how important work or other activities may seem, he will always put Renee and the children first. Matthew feels it is very important to not only have a large family, but to do whatever it takes to make sure that friendship, kindness, and love define the relationships of everyone in his family.
RENEE'S FAMILY
Renee’s family has taught her many things. Her mom is incredibly selfless. In college, Renee got the flu for several weeks and got behind in classes. Her mom came to care for her. Renee didn’t find out until later that her mom had finally gotten a new dishwasher after it had been broken for five years. She returned it to get the money she needed for the plane ticket. Renee’s mom created an environment in their family where they watch out for each other and will doing anything for each other and for their friends and others in need. Renee’s dad is probably the kindest person she knows. Growing up, he loved to talk and play with her after work. She always felt that she could go and talk to him, even when he was reading or working on something. He would stop what he was doing and answer her questions or tell her about the interesting things he was learning. He never allowed family members to be mean or sarcastic and made sure that people spoke positively of others in their home. Because of her dad, Renee gained her insatiable curiosity about the world and learned how to find answers to her questions and felt confident in her ability to accomplish even difficult tasks. She also learned to be kind to others and to put personal relationships above money, prestige, or her own pride (still sometimes working on the pride).
Throughout her teenage years, Renee’s sister Julie fed her sense of adventure and their quest for fun. Julie took Renee to care for her horse every day and to play with friends. They’d go hiking, play games, go to the beach, and make everything into a mini adventure. Renee’s older brother, David, had her help him make his various inventions and airplanes. She learned to love craftsmanship and how to use a variety of tools and materials. Her younger brother Brian taught her how to deal with disagreements when they were young. Brian loves music, art, and photography. Being with him deepens Renee’s interest in music and exposes her to new genres. All of Renee’s siblings are amazing artists and very creative. Growing up in her family helped her appreciate different sorts of genius found in their unique thoughts and creations and taught her not to measure people by standards set forth in society such as schooling, wealth, fame, or recognition by various awards and honors.
