Jeff & Julie are hopeful adoptive parents from Utah waiting to adopt a baby.

If you are pregnant and considering placing your child for adoption, please read the following Dear Birthmother Letter.

Hello and welcome We are Jeff, Julie, and Anna. We were married in 1998 and then were able to bring Anna into our family through the miracle of adoption in 2003. Jeff and I feel that being able to be parents to Anna has been the greatest joy and privilege of our lives. All three of us are very excited to welcome another child into our family to love and to make our family complete.

We appreciate you taking the time to learn about our little family. We want you to know that we have nothing but respect and admiration for you and all birth parents who consider adoption. We know that this is not an easy process and we sincerely wish you peace and comfort through this journey. When we adopted Anna, we came to understand and appreciate the courage and love that birth parents have for their child in choosing to place with an adoptive family. We have so much love for Anna’s birth mother and we tell Anna all about her and make sure that Anna knows how much she was and is still loved by her. We also enjoy keeping Anna’s birth mom updated on Anna’s life through pictures and letters. We look forward to another opportunity to do this and are committed to developing a rewarding and healthy relationship with a birth parent who entrusts us with their child.
Our Marriage and Family Life . . . We met through a mutual friend and quickly became good friends. As our friendship developed into love, it was a thrilling experience to connect with each other so fully on every level. We were both overjoyed to have found someone with whom we could share anything and everything. We have a very open and honest relationship built on mutual love and respect for each other. This, combined with exceptional communication has enabled us to overcome challenges and find joy and humor in all things we experience.

As a family, we enjoy spending as much time as possible together whether we are working around the house or having fun. If Jeff is working on a project around the house, then chances are that Anna will be doing her best to help too. Anna also likes to help Julie do housework and work in the yard and garden. She especially loves to help water the flowers. She is a great helper even though she thinks it’s really funny to "water" mommy with the hose. We love to be outdoors and go camping and hiking often. We love traveling just about anywhere. Jeff especially loves to explore new places. We travel often to California to visit family, enjoy the beach, and go to Disneyland. If Jeff doesn't see the ocean at least once a year, he goes into withdrawals. Julie's favorite thing to do at the beach is to explore the tide pools. Anna is also very fascinated with jellyfish and other sea creatures so we go to a nearby aquarium often and have been learning about them together as a family. We also like playing games, reading together as a family, and taking family walks with our two dogs, Charly and Scooter. Our favorite hobby (passion) is snow-skiing. Jeff and Julie dusted off our skis a few years ago and found that we love it more now than we did way back when. Anna has learned quickly and loves to lead mommy on expeditions through the trees which gets interesting when mommy can’t duck under the lower branches quite as easily as Anna does. Anna thinks it’s hilarious.

We spend a lot of time with extended family on both sides. Jeff's parents live around the corner from us so we see them on an almost daily basis. For Anna, there's no place for getting spoiled like Grandma's house.
About Us . . . A little about Jeff
I grew up in Southern California which I suppose is one of the reasons that I love sunshine, warm weather, and the ocean. As a kid, I played baseball, rode my bike, and was involved in scouting and church activities. I especially loved to swim and go to the beach. My best memories of growing up are of the times spent traveling all over the country with my family. Now, as an adult, I enjoy many of the same things and try to make time for fun and relaxation as much as possible. I have always loved the process of designing, creating, and building things. So, I went to college and earned degrees in Architecture and Construction Management. Now, I work as a construction Project Manager which means that I get to spend most of my time at work on the computer and talking on the phone. Not very creative, but I work only 4 days a week so I have plenty of time on the side for my creative outlets. I love to spend my spare time working on projects around the house and yard. One of my goals in life is to design and build a house and to do most of the construction myself. It is also important to me to give my children opportunities to work with me and to share with them the joy of creating something of value.

Most of all, I love my family!! I love Julie with all my heart. She is my best friend. She understands me, and she tries to make me a better person. She tries and she tries. . . Julie’s best qualities are that she is practical and responsible and at the same time she is playful and likes to have a good time. She is a hard worker and is at the heart of our little family, making sure everything gets done from paying the bills and cooking the food, to reminding Anna and me to brush our teeth and do our chores (I really am a kid at heart!). Julie is a great mother. She loves Anna beyond words, and does everything she can to make sure Anna is happy and healthy and I admire her for her selflessness and all that she sacrifices to be a great mom. I also love Anna with all of my heart!! She amazes me and I love being a part of her life, watching her grow up and helping her to learn and be happy. She is an extremely loving and caring little girl who takes care of her stuffed animals, her dolls, and her daddy. She laughs, plays, and sings a lot, and has a wonderful imagination. The thing I want most of all is for her to grow up strong and happy and to have a good life.

A little about Julie
Growing up I was surrounded by two brothers, two sisters, my parents, and a large extended family that loved to get together often and have fun together. My parents had a very loving relationship and provided me with a loving and supportive home. We spent a lot of time camping and running rivers and having all kinds of adventures together. I am a CPA and work part-time in the profession. I feel very fortunate to have a job that is flexible and allows me to be at home whenever I need to be. My favorite hobby is gardening which is funny since as a kid I would do anything to get out of helping with the yard work. Now, I can’t wait to get outside and get my hands in the dirt. I love being outside to enjoy nature and I love teaching Anna about how things grow and how to take care of plants. I love that Anna gets as excited as I do when the flowers start to poke through the ground in the spring. Other things I enjoy are reading, playing volleyball, and singing.

I am so grateful that I am married to Jeff. We love being together and are best friends. Jeff and I are both easy-going and down to earth people. Jeff is a very giving, kind, considerate, and patient person and a sensitive husband. He even puts up with me when I am being a less than patient wife! His love of fun and adventure is one of the reasons he is such a great daddy to Anna. He is definitely still a kid at heart and is one big teddy bear. Anna adores her daddy and loves to spend time with him. There is no doubt that Jeff is wrapped around Anna’s little finger. Jeff is a hard worker and a truly good person. Adopting Anna was an amazing experience for me. I feel very honored and humbled that her birth mother chose me to be Anna’s mother. I love Anna with all my heart and can’t imagine my life without her. I love being a mother and nothing is more important to me than Anna’s happiness and well-being.

A little about Anna
Anna is a sweet and loving little girl who, at times, can be very stubborn!! Most of the time she is very easy going and full of fun. She loves to be silly and teasing mommy and daddy is one of her favorite past-times. She is full of energy and fun from the time she wakes up in the morning until usually well after bed-time. Anna is in kindergarten and loves learning. She loves to read and she loves playing with her dogs and her friends. Anna says “I love my mommy and daddy because they do nice things and I like the things they give me for Christmas and my birthday. My favorite thing about daddy is that he plays with me a lot and he is a lot of fun when he helps at school. I like that he helps me with my homework. My favorite thing about mommy is that she said yes that I could get Charly. I like it when mommy scratches my back and snuggles with me. I love mommy and daddy and I like that they are trying so hard to get a baby for me. I like that they give me nice jammies and I like that they take me swimming. And I really, really like that they let me have friends over."
Some of the Things We Value . . . Our family
Our biggest priority is to build a strong and happy family. We want every member of our family to feel loved and valued unconditionally. We want our children to be happy and successful in their lives. Success is defined as achieving their goals and finding true happiness in the things they do.

Being good parents
We try very hard to be the best parents we can be to Anna. We praise efforts and don’t focus on “failures”. Trying is the important thing in our home. We feel it is just as important for us to respect Anna as a person as it is for her to respect us as parents. We work to earn that respect. We believe in letting Anna make decisions about her own life as much as is practical and letting her learn from those decisions. Mostly, we believe in giving her unconditional love and millions of hugs and kisses!

Education
We want our children to have many different opportunities for learning and growth. Anna has opportunities for taking classes in dance and gymnastics and anything else she might have an interest in. However, we firmly believe that kids should be kids and that playtime is the most important of all. We have established a college fund for Anna and will do the same for our next child.
