Dear Birthmother Thank you so much for taking the time to look at our album and learn more about us. We have so much respect for your decision to choose adoption and we can only imagine how difficult it will be to select the right family.

Our names are Srdjan and Susan. We met on a blind date that was set up by our very good friends in 2002. We dated for seven months and fell in love. We got engaged and six months later, in May of 2003, we celebrated our marriage surrounded by our family and close friends. We went to Rome, Italy for our honeymoon and fell in love with each other even more. But when we decided we were ready to start our family, we were faced with some difficulties. We ended up going through fertility treatments, which turned into 2½ years of miscarriages and heartbreak. We’ve always known we wanted children to complete our dream of becoming a family. Adoption was something we always considered because we have so much love to share with a child.

Our Home and Marriage We live in the northern suburbs of Chicago in a great neighborhood full of children and close to beautiful parks and schools. We live in a
three-bedroom two-bath home with a great big backyard for a child to play in. Our family and friends all live close by and are eager to help us if ever we need a hand. We love going on bike rides and walks around our neighborhood and through the nearby forest preserves. Since we live so close to Chicago we enjoy going to the museums, walking along the lake and taking in the sights. We also love to entertain friends with barbecues in the summer and chili parties in the winter. Or sometimes we just like to relax on the couch watching movies together. Srdjan enjoys working on his watch collection or reading about history, while Susan enjoys being outside taking care of her garden or relaxing with a book or a crossword puzzle.

Our marriage is built on trust and communication. We are best friends and partners with enormous respect for one another. Our family is the most important thing in our lives.

My name is Srdjan (pronounced sir jon). I am originally from Belgrade, Serbia. Through great personal struggle, my little brother and I came to America to escape the conditions of our homeland and to seek a better life in Chicago in 1994. I enjoy work as a mechanical engineer designing machines for a packaging company. My brother currently lives close by. My parents live in Serbia and can’t wait to come to America to meet their first grandchild. I’m very excited to become a dad so I’ll be able to teach my child about all the wonderful traditions of my country.

Susan
I was born and raised in the northern suburbs of Chicago. I have 2 older sisters and a younger brother, all who have children. As you might imagine, I’ve done quite a lot of babysitting over the years! Both my parents still live in the house I was raised in and are looking forward to welcoming their new grandchild into the family. I’ve been a hair stylist for the past 17 years and I work at a great salon in the area. I’ve been waiting so long to become a mom that having a child will be a dream come true for me.

Our Thoughts On Each Other Srdjan on Susan… I have so much respect and love for Susan. She is the kindest and most giving person I’ve ever met, always putting everyone else’s needs first before hers. I knew from the beginning of our relationship that she was meant to be a mom and that she would always put our child’s priorities above everything else. Susan is definitely a people person and is always planning social gatherings with friends and family. She has a great sense of humor and is always laughing which makes me love her even more. She is the best wife and friend I could have ever hoped for and I love her deeply.

Susan on Srdjan… Srdjan is such a loving, caring, intelligent and loyal man that I knew from the moment I met him he would be a great dad. He came to America to live the American dream and wants to realize that dream by raising a child in an American family. He loves to joke around and sometimes he cracks a joke without even realizing it (funny man!). He is incredibly patient and can’t wait to teach our child everything from how to play soccer to being a kind and thoughtful person like himself. Srdjan is my best friend who I love and respect unconditionally.

Our Hopes For A Child As a couple we have always looked forward to becoming parents. We are so excited to watch our child learn how to crawl and take their first steps to hear their first words. We can see ourselves taking walks together in our neighborhood and going to Susan’s parent’s pool to swim. Srdjan is so excited to teach our child how ride a bike and eventually drive a car. We look forward to watching our child grow and learn with every year that goes by. We can’t wait to share all of the knowledge and wisdom we’ve acquired from our families as we begin our own.

We have always considered ourselves lucky to have found each other and are grateful for the life and home we have built together. But our lives are incomplete without the family we have always dreamed of. We will always teach our child about your love and about the amazing decision you made for your child’s future. We can’t wait to share our love and to help our child realize their dreams. Our arms and hearts are wide open as we wait to meet our child.
