Doug & Lisa are hopeful adoptive parents from Utah waiting to adopt a baby.

If you are pregnant and considering placing your child for adoption, please read the following Dear Birthmother Letter.

ONE REALLY HAPPY FAMILY! To an incredible young woman, from a very grateful couple;

First of all, we want to express our gratitude for the courageous choice you are making at this time in your life; the decision to place your baby for adoption is one of the most wonderful and loving acts you may ever perform. We can only imagine the many emotions that must be running through your mind as you contemplate not only your future, but that of your child. Your gracious act will not be forgotten and you can be assured that your child will know about you and your act of love. You are wonderful. Thank you!

LET US INTRODUCE OURSELVES! We are Doug and Lisa and we are absolutely head over heels in love with each other! In fact, we knew right from the start that we were a perfect match! We met on a singles cruise in the Caribbean and it has been “smooth sailing” ever since! Without boasting, we honestly feel that we have the kind of relationship that most people covet. We think remarkably alike and we have most things in common (with Doug’s passion for football being the main exception)! When we first met, we both expressed a strong desire to become parents and to experience the joys (and challenges) of parenthood. However, after undergoing numerous fertility tests it has been determined that we can never have babies “the old fashioned way.” After prayerful deliberation, we determined that adoption is the right thing for us. In November of 2006, we were blessed with our adopted son, Keaton, who is the joy of our lives. Keaton is beautiful and bright, and he brightens each day. He is anxious to have a sibling to play with.

A LITTLE BACKGROUND: We were both raised in loving families and as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Our religion and our families are still a very important part of our lives. Of course, every family has their own unique set of endearing quirks that make family time fun and memorable. We get together with our families often. Keaton has 22 cousins (20 of those are on Doug’s side of the family)! We have several family members who live close by and we love getting together often. Our parents are crazy about our baby boy and can hardly wait for us to give them another grandchild!

Lisa quit working when our son came along and she is now a full time stay-at-home-mom – and loving it! Doug is a very interactive father who loves to have lots of play time with our son. We believe that children yearn for the kind of love and nurturing that only “mom and dad” can give – it’s something that can’t be found in daycare. We have fallen in love with our little boy in a way that we never could have imagined! We play with him a lot and have already taken him on an Alaskan cruise, on a Maui vacation, to San Diego (including Lego Land), and two trips to Cancun, Mexico! Luckily, he loves the beach (just like we do). We believe strongly that there is another baby who is meant to be in our family, and, we think that having siblings is a great way for a child to grow up; after all, kids need someone else to blame when they do something wrong, don’t they?
ABOUT DOUG DOUG TELLS ABOUT DOUG: I was born in San Diego, California and am the second oldest of eight children (yep, I changed a lot of diapers growing up!) I served a two-year mission for the LDS church in Minnesota, it was awesome! I then attended college at BYU–Hawaii, where I studied Art, English, and… Dating! I also attended college at Colorado Northwestern where I earned a degree in Dental Hygiene. I worked as a dental hygienist in California and Maui, Hawaii. My father (now deceased) was a dentist, so I was raised to be very conscientious of good oral hygiene. It’s no wonder that our son, Keaton, loves his toothbrush!

I worked my way through school by doing what I love – teaching and sculpting! I worked as a sculptor for several years and sold many of my “masterpieces.” I also taught art classes at Colorado Northwestern and then had the opportunity to teach English and Seminary classes. I enjoy music and singing. My brothers and I used to sing together as a group and could harmonize extremely well together – we still do! I love singing to my son and have made up a special (OK, kind of silly) song for him. He likes it though!

While at BYU, I fell in love with Hawaii and later moved to Maui. Of course, being raised as a California beach kid I LOVE anything to do with water! I live to surf, swim, body surf, snorkel, cliff jump and scuba dive! Luckily, our son also loves the water! This past summer I had a blast teaching Keaton to surf in Maui (OK, he wasn’t even old enough to stand up on his own, but some day, I’m sure he’ll be a pro!) I love sunshine and any place that’s tropical… and, while Utah doesn’t have a lot of palm trees or beach-front property, it does have mountains! I’ve turned in my surf board for a snow board, which gets me through the cold winter days in Utah!

While practicing Dental Hygiene, I started dabbling in real estate – buying, fixing up and selling houses. After discovering this new niche I purchased real estate in California, Hawaii and Utah. Needless to say, I’ve become a pretty good handy-man. I enjoy working with my hands and seeing the fruits of my labors. My other passions are football, ice-cream, and lasagna (and of course, my wife and baby boy)! I love being a dad and can’t wait to have a little girl. No doubt, she will have me wrapped around her little finger!

ABOUT LISA LISA TELLS ABOUT LISA: I am the youngest of four children (yep, the baby of the family). I was raised in Utah and, except for a year and a half in Houston, Texas, have lived here all my life. My family members live close by, and we love to get together when we can. My family adores (and spoils) our little boy, and they are all very excited for us to add another member to our family (yes, our next baby will be spoiled too!)

As a child, I was shy around strangers but could be quite a chatter-box with family and friends! As a little girl, I would go around the house singing. I later sang in my Jr. High and High School choirs and, as a teenager, my oldest brother convinced my parents to get me voice lessons. After high school I began singing at restaurants, private events and weddings (yes, I was a wedding singer)! I've also dabbled in drama and musical theater. I love many types of music – mostly classical, pop and soft rock (Josh Groban is a favorite!) I wrote a special lullaby for my son shortly after he was born and loved singing it to him before bed (now we have a large repetoire of songs that we sing together). In fact, Keaton loves music – he especially loves it when Doug and I sing duets to him. (He’s our biggest fan - and... he doesn't mind the imperfections!)

I am the typical female; I like anything soft and cuddly, and babies of all kinds (except spider babies – they’re creepy!). I also like shoes, animals (even reptiles), flowers, tender kisses, soft touches, incredible views, castles, old ruins, antiques, pastel colors (especially pink), decorating, beautiful scenery, good music and kind souls. I don’t like injustice, lima beans, liver, ingratitude or rudeness. I have been fortunate enough to travel much of the world. My favorite thing about traveling is learning about the history and culture of the places I visit (but lying on the beach under a palm tree is good too)! I am excited to explore the world with my children, even if it means just going to the local park, to the zoo, or to our own back yard. I love the Discovery channel! I love exploring and I have a curious nature – I like to know what’s around every corner! I like fast rides - especially roller coasters, and airplanes as they take off the runway, (but don’t worry; I’m good about driving at the appropriate speed limit!)

Along with my love for thrill rides, I also like working with numbers (my career was in banking and finance before I got the best job of all - Mommy)! I like getting a bargain, knowing that our checkbook balances, and that we have a well-padded savings account (you never know when the next rainy day will come along)! I enjoy learning and wish that I had a photographic memory so that I could retain it all!

Most of all, I love being a mom! I can’t imagine life now without our little boy! Keaton has brought so much joy to our home. I love playing with him and making him laugh – which is easy to do because he’s such a happy little boy! Doug and I love taking Keaton to the park and playing on the swings. Keaton also loves playing with us on our own jungle gym and feeding the horses from our back yard. I especially love bed-time because I get to cuddle with my son before bed, sing to him, and tell him stories.

MORE ABOUT US: We are both in excellent health. Lisa does aerobics and jogs several times a week; Doug lifts weights and is extremely active. We also love jogging together through the neighborhood with Keaton in tow. We love hiking, biking, swimming, and most water sports; SCUBA diving and surfing are favorites. We want our children to see and explore the world and to appreciate its beauty. We can’t wait to take more family adventure vacations and show our children how incredible this world is!

We love being parents to our son and are excited to bring more love into our home in the form of a little girl! We have lots of love to give and we feel that another child will not only expand our family, but will also expand our hearts. We feel the utmost gratitude to you for making it possible for couples like us to realize our dreams of parenthood. You are an angel who, through your great gift of life and love, will bring great happiness to many people. We hope you experience peace, comfort, and joy in your journey. THANK YOU.

Sincerely,

Doug and Lisa
