Our Home

We live in a great area with access to the city and culture within minutes, and in an hour we can be in the Cascade Mountains, or on the Pacific coast. We live in a large, 3 bedroom condominium, in a great community, with countless parks within minutes. Our home has a baby room with a family crib passed down from Laura's dad. The crib is filled with warm cozy blankets and an English teddy just waiting for a child to cuddle. We are currently hoping to purchase our "dream" house with lots of room to play and grow and raise a family.

We enjoy being close to the city and visiting the museums, aquariums, zoos, and sporting events. We also have a garden that we love spending time in. We grow lots of herbs and vegetables, and enjoy using them in delicious homemade dishes.

Mealtimes are special to us. We both enjoy cooking our own specialties, and while one of us is the chef the other helps prep. During the week when Laura is at the gym, Steve makes dinner, and on the weekends Laura loves to cook something gourmet or bake mouth watering desserts. We enjoy sharing a delicious meal at the dinner table and talking about our day, or what we look forward to at the weekend. Mealtimes will be important to share with children and hear about their day and all they experienced.

Fun Times On the weekends, we are often running around the countryside camping, hiking, 4-wheeling, puttering in our garden, and hanging out with family and our niece and nephew. During winter our favorite pass time is downhill skiing at many of the great ski resorts in Washington State. We have taken our nephew skiing several times, which has been great practice for the future.

We both crave adventure, whether in Washington State, or traveling to countries around the world. Visiting other countries in person and experiencing those cultures brings them to life. We love visiting each country or region and tasting the exotic flavors, smelling the local scents at the farmers markets, touching a very old artifact, or visiting an ancient temple. We dream of traveling with our children, sharing the experiences of different cultures and customs, and seeing the world as a family.

Steve is originally from England and we travel there regularly to spend time with his family. When we are there we often skip over to Europe to enjoy and experience different cultures. We both love to see the sights, taste the exotic food, and enjoy the rich history and diversity. Laura has also shown Steve many of the beautiful natural wonders here in Washington State that she has experienced over the years. Laura often jokes that Steve is showing her the world, and she is sharing the treasures of Washington State with him. We look forward to sharing our love of the outdoors and the exposure of world travel with your child!

Work

Laura has been a biologist for several years, but is looking forward to being a stay at home mom when we bring the baby home. She wants nothing more than to provide a child with a stable home, full of love, attention, laughter and daily adventures. Steve plans to be home every night by 6:00 to spend lots of time with the baby.
Our Families Steve and I recently celebrated our third anniversary, but have been together for 6+ years. A friend introduced us and we soon realized we had a lot in common and became best friends. In the summer of 2005, we went to Paris and Steve proposed on top of the Eiffel Tower on a warm, beautiful blue bird day. On the way down the Tower, we stopped and enjoyed a delicious Parisian ham and cheese baguette and later wondered around Notre Dame.

Our families are a huge part of our lives, and we spend lots of time with them. Laura grew up in Olympia, Washington and her family lives within driving distance. We get together with them several times a month to celebrate birthdays, holidays, and good times. Laura has two awesome brothers and we are all very close. We have a total of two nieces and one nephew, and the family is excited for more grand kids and a new cousin. Grandma has loads of children’s books just waiting for little fingers to turn the pages, and grandpa is eager to take the child for a ride on a 4-wheeler.

Though Steve’s family lives in England, we travel there several times a year to visit with his family. His mum and dad visit frequently and will be over in a flash to help and support us with the new arrival. A right of passage for the new children in his family is a cuddly teddy bear for the boys and a floppy bunny for the girls. His sister lives in London and provides us with great cheap lodging when we are there. Steve's brother, his wife and daughter Jess live in a converted 17th century barn. This is where we stay when we are there.

Time with our niece in England is very precious. She loves to go to zoos, natural history museums, parks, and the beach. She is eager for a little cousin to look after. Our families are very supportive and excited about our decision to adopt and we know that the child will be loved and cherished by all.
Raising a Child We are both looking forward to being parents. It will be so fun teaching the little one to do things. Spoiling them will be the hardest thing to control. Don’t think Steve will try too hard to stop though. We have both had excellent educations, and your child will have that opportunity too. They will be raised to value family, kindness, respect, and tolerance of others, and also to be proud of who they are and where they came from. They will receive unconditional love, and they will know that you love them.

Laura enjoys reading every night, and can’t wait to read the bedtime stories she grew up with your child. When our niece and nephew visit she loves to read them stories before bed, and now our nephew can read to us. It’s so exciting to watch them learn and grow.

We were both raised in Christian families. A spiritual life has always been important to us, although we haven't always been involved in organized religious practice. We find our inner peace hiking in the mountains or walking along the ocean experiencing all the natural wonders. Both of us feel that a child needs a moral and ethical education as well as an academic one. We plan to raise our children with a great appreciation of all that is good in the world and with all it's mysteries as well.

Why We Chose Adoption

We have always wanted to be a mom and dad. When we discovered we couldn’t have children, we decided that adopting would make our dreams of becoming a family a reality. We are so excited for the journey to begin. We can’t wait to become parents and share our unconditional love, cuddles, and happiness with a child. We want the shrieks of excitement, runny noses, endless questions, and comforting hugs.

If our letter makes you think that we might be a good match, just let us know. Letters, pictures and gifts can all be shared during appropriate times and circumstances, according to your and our level of comfort. We would love to tell you more about the love and opportunities we can share with your child. Multiples are welcome. Send us a message

Thanks for taking the time to learn a little bit about us. We wish you the best and pray you feel courage, pride, peace and love during this time and always.

With warmest wishes, Steve and Laura
