If you are pregnant and considering placing your child for adoption, please read the following Dear Birthmother Letter.

Congratulations!
We're Adopting a Girl.

Hello From the Nixon Family! We are Mike, Jessica & Connor Nixon. We are an outgoing, loving and welcoming family who has room in their hearts for you and your baby. We would love for you to get to know us better and truly want to know you too.

We think you are brave and strong to consider open adoption for your baby. We would love to talk with you. We have nothing but respect and admiration for you and want to do what it takes to make you feel secure and happy in your decision.

Thank you for taking a moment to learn more about our family. We would love to hear from you.

We promise you will find open minds and open hearts.

About Us We met over 10 years ago in Atlanta, GA. Mike had just graduated from Georgia Tech, and Jessica was in her second year in her job as a flight attendant. Mike moved into the apartment above Jessica and we soon became friends. It took us about 6 months to realize that we were more than friends. Since then, we have never been apart. We were married in December of 2001 in North Carolina. Two years later, Connor was born. We have been thankful each day since his birth for the love and joy he has brought into our lives. We are truly looking forward to expanding our family through open adoption. We feel that love is not based on biology, and we can't wait to share our love with the newest family member.

About Mike, by Jessica

Mike is the kind of Dad who gets down on the floor to play with kids. When Connor’s friends come over they often ask if Connor’s Daddy can play too. He is shy when you first meet him, but it doesn't take him long to open up and become the funny, goofy, friendly, talkative guy that he really is. Mike works as an electrical engineer at a company that is just a short 10 minute drive from our home. He really enjoys his job, and we feel lucky that he works so close to home. Sometimes he comes home for lunch, and he is always home in time for dinner! Mike likes to watch all kinds of movies (especially science fiction), play basketball, softball and golf. He is organizing a softball team through his company this summer, and cannot wait to help coach Connor's t-ball team this year!

About Jessica, by Mike

Jessica is the most considerate person I know. She wants everyone around her to be happy. This is one of the reasons she is a great mother. Jessica works about 2 days a week as a flight attendant for a major airline. Her job is great for our family for lots of different reasons. She has a really flexible schedule so she is always able to be home for tee-ball games, field trips and other special occasions. One of the best benefits of her job is that we are able to fly wherever we like! This helps us visit family and travel for vacation more often than most people. Jessica loves to read! She will read anything, but she especially likes mysteries and other fiction. She shares this love with Connor every night when she reads him bedtime stories. She also loves to bake and do little projects around the house.

About Connor

Connor is a happy, healthy, energetic little boy. He has so many interests, and they change all the time. Right now he loves to catch bugs, play outside, swim in the neighborhood pool and draw picture after picture. He is also up for anything that includes having friends around! He is so excited to have a little brother or sister to love. He is always putting toys, blankets and clothes aside for “when the baby comes”.

We think we have a great family, but we also feel that it isn’t complete yet. We know there is room for another child in our hearts. We truly believe that we are meant to adopt the newest member of our family through open adoption and can’t wait for the blessings that God has in store for us.
Our Home and Family We are a very social family and like to surround ourselves with friends and family. Our doors are always open, and friends, family and neighbors often drop by. We love to host cook outs and get-togethers with kids running all over! Every fall we throw a Halloween themed party that includes a pumpkin carving contest, roasting marshmallows in the backyard, and lots of good food! We love to go to baseball games, the zoo, aquarium and children's museum. We would love to have another member of the family to join in all of the fun.

We live in a great neighborhood in a suburb north of Atlanta with our cat, Lucy. We love our home and the neighborhood we live in. There is a pool and playground for the children to play in, as well as tennis courts, basketball courts, a walking trail and even a creek. We love our community! We live far enough away from the city that our town feels small and peaceful, but close enough so that we can take advantage of everything the city has to offer. The schools that our children will go to are great! In a few years, there will be a brand new elementary school within walking distance of our house!

We are very close to our family. Most of Mike’s family lives in Georgia. Mike’s sister lives just 30 minutes away from us. Connor loves it when Aunt Gina comes to babysit! He likes it even more if he gets to go to her house! Most of Jessica’s family lives in Florida, and we are lucky to be able to visit them often. Your baby will have 5 cousins who are all under 5 years old to visit in Florida. We are all looking forward to having a new baby splashing in the pool at Nonna’s house with us.

As parents, we think it is important to be involved. We want to be sure that our kids know there is nothing more important to us than they are. We hope that we can make them feel loved, secure, self-confident, and above all else, happy. We believe strongly in the importance of a good education and plan to make sure our children have the opportunity to study whatever they wish.

We will try to give our children as many opportunities as we can. Playing sports, learning the piano, being a boy scout or girl scout, traveling the world, and going to college. All these things combine to make a happy childhood, but the most important thing we will do is provide them with unconditional love and support from the moment we meet them.
To You We think you are brave and strong to consider open adoption for your baby. It shows a tremendous amount of love for your child. We think it is a wonderful option for many reasons. Your baby will always know the story of his or her birth and adoption. Your child will be secure in the knowledge that he or she is truly loved by you and by us and you will always know that your baby is loved and cared for.

We would really like to get to know you. We would love to talk with you about what type of relationship you would like. We have nothing but respect and admiration for you and want to do what it takes to make you feel secure and happy in your decision.

Thank you for taking the time to read our letter and learn more about our family.

With Love and Support,

Mike, Jessica & Connor
