Kyle & Austin are hopeful adoptive parents from Florida waiting to adopt a baby.

If you are pregnant and considering placing your child for adoption, please read the following Dear Birthmother Letter.

Dear Birthmother, We are Austin and Kyle and we are so very grateful to you for considering us. We are excited to share the story of our life with you in the hopes that you will get a clear picture of the love we have for each other, the incredible family and friends that surround us and the love that we hope to share with a child. Our dream has always been to be parents and share with our children all the wonderful experiences that life has to offer.

Our wish for you is that you find comfort and peace as you make this courageous and selfless decision. We truly admire your strength as you go through this time and can only imagine the struggle within your heart.

We hope that you will find the perfect family who will love and nurture your child and who will be eternally grateful for the precious gift that you gave. We would love to be that family!

Our Decision to Adopt

Our decision to adopt...

We tried to get pregnant for four years and although more fertility treatments were an option, our decision to adopt came naturally and we both could not be more excited. We firmly believe that this was the path we were meant to travel and, finally that path to parenthood feels so right. Although it would have been wonderful to have started our family years ago, we love where we are as a couple, strong, stable and in-tune. We know, more than ever, that we are ready to provide a wonderful life for a child.

About Us... We have been happily married for 9 years, together for 11. We met when we were both working for Marriott hotels in Virginia and instantly became great friends. (We always say it was a wonderful way to begin a relationship!)

One of our favorite stories about how we started dating was that Austin tried to set Kyle up with one of her best friends who finally said to her, ‘You can’t stop talking about how great he is, why don’t YOU date him!’ So she did!

Dating each other was the first ‘adult’ relationship that we both had and it was not long before we each knew that this was it, we were both ‘off the market!’ From the start of our relationship, we enjoyed many of the things that remain a big part of our life today; things like spending time with family and friends, travel, and sports. We were married in May of 2000 surrounded by family and friends, dancing and fun!

Kyle’s job first took us to Atlanta where we loved living the Southern life, making new friends and enjoying our first home together. (Later, we will introduce you to a special little guy, our
labradoodle, Amli, named after our first apartment building!) Atlanta was great but we missed family and friends and were fortunate enough to move back to the Washington, DC area where we lived for 6 years.

We now call Naples, Florida home and have been here for three years. Living the Florida lifestyle is great and we cannot wait to share it with a child.

We are a fun, easy-going couple. We love and appreciate the simple things in life and are excited and ready to start our family.

Austin is...

The bleeding heart who’s love for people and especially children led her to her career working with kids. To her, no problem is unsolveable and no goal unattainable. People are drawn to Austin when they need someone to talk to, someone with an open mind and a caring soul.
Austin lived an active childhood, growing up as an only child in the suburbs of Washington, DC. A competitive swimmer for most of her childhood, summers were always spent at the pool but travel was also a big part of the family’s life and took them to places like Russia, England, Hawaii and, always a week at the beach every year with family and friends!

High school years found her playing field hockey and lacrosse, serving as yearbook editor and a peer counselor at her high school, and working as a lifeguard in the summers. College was one of her favorite times in life and she enjoyed meeting life-long friends from around the country and being sorority president. Shortly after her college years, she found her in a new role as ‘sister’, welcoming her little brother Will and soon after, Zachary, to the family.

It was not long after college that Austin truly discovered her passion as a guidance counselor. She spent time teaching both special education and middle school while getting her Masters degree in counseling and loved every minute. Having worked with both middle and high school aged kids, Austin knows the true blessing of doing what you love! Most recently, she chose to work in college admissions to gain the experience necessary to one day run a private college counseling and consulting business (a great job for a stay-at-home mommy!).

Family has always been important to Austin, from the close relationships she shares with her parents to themany cousins, aunts and uncles who have welcomed Kyle into the family as one of their own.
Austin loves to cook and can often be seen with a cookbook in hand trying to figure out the next recipe challenge. Swimming remains her favorite sport and has found passion as a coach in her adult years. Always a sports lover, but learning more and more about sports from Kyle, college football is her game of choice and she can often be found cheering onthe Virginia Tech Hokies on Saturday afternoons in the fall.

Kyle is...

The tall goofy guy with the big heart! It is his height that makes you first notice him but it is his easy-going nature and ‘it’s always good’ spirit that make you love him. Growing up, Kyle was everybody’s friend and not much has changed.

Kyle’s childhood years were spent in the mid-west, growing up in Iowa and then eventually moving to Chicago (home to his #1 team, the Chicago Bears!). Being the middle of three boys, Kyle developed an easy-going personality, coupled with a great sense of humor. Sports were big from the start and yes, he’s tall, he played basketball! Travels were frequent and included road trips across country, Niagara Falls, beach vacations and a lot of boating, which remains a fun family outing.

Kyle went to Catholic schools all his life and, in addition to sports, was very involved in planning and running youth retreats.

Kyle has worked for Marriott hotels since he got out of college and has found tremendous success. Now in sales, he recently was named Sales Leader of the Year (Austin is quite proud!). He is a hard worker, an excellent boss and well-respected in his field. Many of our close friends are also from the Marriott family and we are so grateful to have found them. His work has given us tremendous opportunities in travel and we have enjoyed each one. (More on that later!)

Sunday afternoons in the fall will find this sports lover watching football, especially Da Bears!! Living in Naples has given Kyle the opportunity to beef up his golf game and usually a weekend is not complete without some time on the green with friends. Basketball season reminds him of his years dribbling down the court and after years of boating as a child, it remains a favorite past time thanks to the benefits of Florida living.

Our Families Our families are an integral part of our lives and we can’t imagine it any other way. Although our life in Florida has taken us further from our families than we would like, we do all that we can to see and talk to them as much as possible.

Austin’s parents remain in Virginia. Her mother, Sandra, and her husband Dick live in Charlottesville, Virginia in a wonderful country community where her mother (a retired guidance counselor) is a hospital volunteer. Austin’s father, Bud, and his wife, Lisa live in Virginia in the town where Austin grew up. Bud is a lawyer and Lisa is a stay-at-home mom.

Austin’s favorite guys (Except Kyle of course!) are her two half-brothers, Will (10) and Zachary (8). They are active boys who love sports and Austin is so happy to have siblings after years as an only child.

Kyle’s parents live in a quaint Maryland town, right outside of Washington, DC, where Kyle’s father is the CEO of the health system. Kyle’s mother was a stay at home mom and spends time now very involved with the community. Kyle’s olderbrother, JP, lives in Venice Beach, California where he works in sales (and makes a mean chili!); and Kyle’s younger brother, Brian, lives in Melbourne, Australia where he, too, works in sales. We are very excited to be adding a new family member in September 2009 as Kyle’s brother Brian will be marrying Kelly. We all love her and can’t wait to call her ‘Auntie Kelly’!

We love that our families get along so well with each other and it is not uncommon for us to be all together for holidays and other special occasions. We are very blessed and everyone is anxious to share love and fun with the first grandchild!
Our Home... Our home is in a wonderful family-oriented gated community, filled with children, pets, and fun and close to the county’s best schools. Our favorite times of the year in our community are Halloween and the Fourth of July when you can hardly get in the neighborhood because it filled with people celebrating! We have beautiful lakes that run through the community and you can always find children fishing and boating. There is a clubhouse with a pool, tennis courts, workout facility and great spaces for parties and neighborhood gatherings.

Our house is truly our own. With an open and flowing floorplan, we are proud of the remodeling that we have done, adding a little tropical touch! We enjoy family and friends always gathering by the pool or around the kitchen as we love to entertain in our home! We have three bedrooms with one anxiously awaiting a new little occupant!

Thank you so much for taking the time to get to know us. We hope that this small glimpse into our lives has left you with a feeling of what great parents we will be and confident in the unconditional love that a child in our home will receive.

Our hope for our children is that they always know love, that they will always feel support and that they thrive at being themselves and appreciating their strengths and talents. We want communication to be our family’s best tool and to teach our children to approach life’s challenges with knowledge and understanding.

We look forward to a home filled with laughter and fun! But, when bad times overshadow good, our strength and faith will prevail and, at the end of the day, we know that, together with family, we can get through anything.

We hope that you find the answers you need during this time and that you always know that you are showing your child the ultimate love by doing what is best for his or her future.
We are so grateful to you for considering us and can assure you that, in our home, your child will always know of your love, your strength and your courageous decision to give life. You will always remain close to our hearts and be the giver of our greatest gift.

With our love and open hearts,

Austin & Kyle
