Steve & Jaylene are hopeful adoptive parents from Ohio waiting to adopt a baby.
If you are pregnant and considering placing your child for adoption, please read the following Dear Birthmother Letter.

Dear Birth Parent(s)
Dear Birth Parent(s),
Thank you so much for considering us to be the family of your child. We understand how this decision must be an incredible struggle for you as you are trying to determine what the best situation is for you and your baby. We are so grateful for your selflessness in considering adoption, and are keeping you in our prayers daily. We pray that our loving Heavenly Father will guide you in making this difficult decision.
We both come from large families and have been raised with good values, love, and laughter. We have extended these values into our married lives. We have always known that we wanted to be parents. In fact, before we were even officially engaged, we talked about the names that we would give our children! As we got married and tried to start a family, we were devastated that bearing our own children was not in God’s plan for us. At this difficult time in our lives, we turned to the Lord for guidance and comfort. Through a lot of prayer and fasting, we have felt peace. Part of that healing process came from the understanding that God loves us and that there will be children brought into this world that will come to us through adoption. Since that time, we have prepared ourselves and home for this opportunity.
Ours is a home where strong Christian values are taught and practiced. We will teach our children through words and actions how to love the Savior and to respect our neighbors. Our home also is one where a good education is given a high importance. Music is a strong part of our lives and we want to share this with our children either through participation or informed appreciation. We want to give our children the opportunity to learn and do all that is good, and we hope that we can be good examples for them.
We love to do things together as a family. We will travel together, play games together, read together, sing together, pray together, and build strong family bonds. We know that by centering our family in Christ, this will be possible.
We again are grateful for your consideration of our family, and know that you will be guided into making whatever decision is the best for you and your child.
Jaylene about Steve
Steve is the most wonderful man that I know! He has so many talents and qualities that make him a loved and respected person to those who know him. One of the qualities he most exemplifies is his kindness for others. In fact, on our first date, he "abandoned" me for several minutes to assist some elderly ladies enter a restaurant before he rejoined me to continue our date. He has continued to show kindness to all around us in many different ways. He can be found helping a neighbor move, giving people rides, carrying heavy bags, and assisting friends on homework assignments. He does all of these things without complaint, and with an eager and willing heart!
Steve is a very talented man. He is always developing and learning new talents, and never grows restless. He loves reading, especially fantasy, historical, and gospel-related books. He is very good at building and organizing things around the house. After learning German in high school and Portuguese on a mission for our church, he taught himself Spanish and is now fairly proficient in that language. Steve has a beautiful tenor voice and is teaching himself to play the piano. But, his most amazing and wonderful talent is his spirituality. He has a deep and meaningful relationship with our Father in Heaven, and this has helped him throughout his life in so many ways.
Steve grew up as the second-to-youngest in a family of 5 boys and 1 girl. He and his siblings and parents try to get together as often as occasion permits, even with a couple of them living far away. Get-togethers always include laughter and fun! They enjoy games, music, watching the nieces and nephews play, and just hanging out! Family is so important to them, and to us, and Steve has always put family first. Of course, this is very beneficial to me, because it means he has always treated me like a princess. I know that I can always count on his support and encouragement in whatever I do.
Steve has such a zest for life! He is currently working on a double Master's degree in voice and conducting, and is so excited about the many opportunities this degree will give him. He can't wait to pursue a career in Music Education, and will be so good at it! He loves music and he loves teaching, and I know that these loves will help him to be a wonderful father as well. I can see him sharing his love for life, God, music, and learning with our children. I can't wait for him to start!
Steve about Jaylene
I met Jaylene in college. The first opportunity I had to speak to her made my head spin. She was doing Spanish homework and, curious, I asked her how she came to learn it. She replied that she had spent more than a decade studying Spanish, but that she also knew how to speak Cantonese, as she had just returned from being a service missionary for our church in Hong Kong. This impressed me: smart and spiritual. I then asked her what she was studying in school and the reply came back as the same as me - choral music education. Bonus points for common interests! She then went on to tell me that she could also play the piano, organ, violin, and was passable on the viola. Upon this pronouncement I was hooked! I wanted to know everything there was to know about this girl. How I ever got her to consent to marry me, let alone date me, I'll never know. But I don't ask - I just love her as much as I am capable.
I am convinced that I won the lottery by having Jaylene in my life. She truly is the best and most beautiful person I know, and her goodness and beauty (inner and outer) blesses the lives of all those around her, especially me. I try every day to be the man she thinks I am and the man I am trying to become.
Jaylene learned responsibility at an early age. As the eldest of SEVEN girls, she has tried very hard to set a good example for her siblings. Being a college graduate, church missionary, high school choir teacher, and all-around good person, it is my opinion that she is what she ought to be and is someone who her sisters could and should emulate. Her goodness and virtue were taught to her carefully by wonderful parents who have cultivated a spirit of honesty and hard work in their children. It is a treat when all the sisters get together, watching them relive old times and even occasionally putting on skits as they did when they were young. The relationship Jaylene has with her family is one that blesses me, as she brings so much to our family.
As previously mentioned, Jaylene is multi-talented and her interests are varied. She has the voice of an angel, is wonderfully talented on many instruments, and enjoys wholesome and uplifting music. She is an avaricious reader, often devouring multiple books in a week. One of her principle hobbies is being crafty (in the non-furtive sense of the word) and has made many wonderful items for our home, scrapbooking being her primary craft love. She loves sports, hiking, camping, and playing games. She is an amazing cook and enjoys experimenting in the kitchen. One of her chief passions, however, is traveling, learning new cultures, and expanding her horizons.
When I think of the opportunity our children will have by having Jaylene as their mother, I can't help but smile. I know of no one more prepared or capable of being a mother than she and know that she will bless your life and put your mind at ease by selecting her to raise your child.
Our Marriage and Hopes for the Future
We were married 5 years ago on a very cold, but very wonderful, day in March. Our love for each other is now even stronger than it was then. We can't wait to share our love with a little one who we hope will soon come into our lives. We have so many dreams of the good that is yet to come in our little family: travel, games, hiking, sports, camping, crafts, gardening, music, but most importantly, LOVE!
