A warm greeting...
Thank you for taking the time to get to know us. We are a young, fun loving couple wanting to grow our family. We understand that this is a very difficult time for you and we want to help ease your fears by telling you that by selecting us as adoptive parents, your child will grow up surrounded by love & happiness. We will ensure that your child will always be aware of the brave and caring choice you have made.
Our Story
We have been married for three years...We met in college where we dated a short time. Life took us in different directions and we remained friends until graduation when Sophia moved, and we lost touch. After not speaking for about two years Sophia began dreaming (literally) about Brian and searched him out (he loves this story). We began the process of getting to know each other all over again. It all happened naturally and smoothly with phone calls and visits and we soon realized that we we were meant to be together. We were married in the Dominican Republic and had a small ceremony with our closest friends and family.
We found out recently that we would not be able to have children without the assistance of in vitro fertilization. We have decided that we do do not want to force the hand of nature when there is a child out there that needs a home. We both feel strongly that we are meant to form our family through adoption.
Our Family, Friends and Home
We both come from very supportive families, Sophia’s live close by in New Jersey and we see them often for dinner, barbecues and Giants games. Brian’s parents live in Vermont where our time with them is usually spent skiing in the winter or sailing on Lake Champlain in the summer. Both of us have many cousins who all have young children so holidays are busy with laughter and fun. We also have three adopted cousins on Brian's side who we are very close with. They are very supportive in our decision to adopt and we feel blessed to have them behind us and enlightening us with their stories and feelings on adoption. In addition to family, we have a large network of friends around us and we enjoy spending time with them and their families.
We own a three bedroom ranch home in New Jersey with a very large yard and big vegetable garden. We spend a lot of time out on the deck enjoying nature. We have a great community with lots of children living in the neighborhood and great schools.
When we are not visiting with family or friends most of our free time is spent laughing and fooling around together. We spend a lot of time at the Jersey shore in the summer which is where Sophia has so many great childhood memories. We do a lot of gardening and enjoy cooking with the fresh vegetables and herbs that we pull out of our garden. There are some great trails and parks around where we live so we are able to do a lot of hiking and biking close to home. We recently learned to golf which we are enjoying (usually, although it can be very frustrating:) We love travel. Over the past 6 years we have done quite a bit... Brazil, Aruba, Florida, Colorado, Hawaii, Grand Canyon, Bryce and Zion National parks to name a few. All in all we do have an active lifestyle and we cannot wait to share these things with our children. We are so excited to take them to attractions and parks and watch them smile, laugh and experience fun things for the first time!
Brian and Sophia
(Written by Sophia) Brian is an extremely fun loving and gentle person. He is very laid back and has a great perspective on life. Watching him interact with our niece and our cousins is heart warming. He loves to play with them and make them laugh. They love him too! Brian is great in the kitchen and in the garden, he’s also a great dancer and I often find him grooving out if he thinks no one is watching.
(Written by Brian) Sophia is very passionate about the things she cares about. Family and friends have always been a priority in her life. Through Sophia’s work she is able to heal, nurture and advise those in need. These are qualities that I admire and I know she will share with our children. Tremendously caring and attentive, Sophia is able to provide all the love a child could ever want. She puts her all into everything she does and she will do the same as a parent. One of Sophia's favorite things to do is to plan trips and vacations. She really gets into it and gets all excited when she finds some great restaurant that we will enjoy or some cool attraction we just have to visit.
