Josh & Tammy are hopeful adoptive parents from Illinois waiting to adopt a baby.

If you are pregnant and considering placing your child for adoption, please read the following Dear Birthmother Letter.

Who are we? Once upon a time in a land far, far away..... actually right over there. This was how Tammy's dad used to start her bedtime stories when she was a child, and we're looking forward to sharing many bedtime stories with our child, too. But first, let's tell you our story....

We're Josh and Tammy. We met by chance, through a mutual friend, while riding the el in Chicago. That was over seven years ago, and we've been together ever since.

We've been happily married for over five years. A couple years ago we decided that the time was right to start a family. After talking it over, we realized that the right way for us to build our family was through adoption. Through our research, we learned about open adoption and realized that was what we were looking for. We are excited to become parents and to watch the world through our child's eyes. We are excited about building a relationship with you over time so that our child can have a full sense of who he or she is, and know how much he or she is loved.

Josh's Thoughts on Tammy
Tammy is an energetic and inquisitive person. She loves to read and especially enjoys Russian literature of all things. Sunny weekend days are her favorite- being outdoors, taking walks, and listening to live music are some of her preferred activities. Tammy is very organized and has a gift for planning ahead. She likes to sing and dance and will often grab me for a random swing dance session. She makes life fun and always keeps me on my toes.

Tammy's Thoughts on Josh
Josh is not only one of the funniest people I know, but also one of the most caring. He'll do whatever he can to help his family or his friends - or even people he's just met. Josh is pretty laid-back and takes the time to enjoy life. He has a serious side, too, but usually reserves it for work. He has a thirst for knowledge and is always trying to learn new things. And just when I think I have him all figured out, he up and surprises me by taking on a new hobby (such as guitar or martial arts, two of his favorites).
What do we do? Our Lives Together
As a twosome, we enjoy exploring the city and experiencing all it has to offer. We like to go for long walks or bike rides when the weather is nice. If the weather doesn't cooperate, we spend our time going to museums, or movies, or just playing board games inside. Often times we just wander around the city going wherever our feet happen to take us. We also love to travel, and take each opportunity in a new place to roam around and get to know that area like the locals.

Our Jobs
We both work in law - Josh is an attorney who does civil practice, and Tammy heads a paralegal department that handles criminal appeals. We both work downtown (right next door to each other, actually) and truly enjoy our jobs. Once we have a child, Tammy will take a leave from work to stay home. However, we do intend to use a daycare, preferably near our jobs so that we can be nearby if needed. Tammy's job offers flexible hours, so we hope to balance our schedules to limit daycare time.

Our Home and Family Our Home and Neighborhood
We live in cozy, sunny condo unit that we share with our two cats, Uber and Wilbur. We love our neighborhood because, even though we're in the city, it can be so quiet at times. Our neighborhood is very diverse. There is a mix of everything - children and adults, singles and families, and all races and backgrounds. We live by a number of parks and playgrounds, as well as community centers and libraries. We're also close to public transportation so getting around is never a problem.

Our Family
Our families are very supportive of us in all we do. We are both transplants to the Chicago area (Josh from Baton Rouge, Tammy from St. Louis), so while our family isn't in the city we've built a family full of friends. Many of our friends are looking forward to babysitting, and our child will have many "aunts" and "uncles" to dote on them. Tammy's family is within short driving distance, and we see them often. Our nieces and nephews are very excited to have another addition to the family and another cousin to play with.

Thank you! We appreciate you taking the time to read a little bit about us and our lives. We imagine this is all a bit overwhelming. If you'd like to learn more about us, we'd like to share. (And we'd also love to learn about you!) Send us a message
