Byron & Kari are hopeful adoptive parents from Colorado waiting to adopt a baby.

If you are pregnant and considering placing your child for adoption, please read the following Dear Birthmother Letter.

Dear Birthmom: We hope that this letter will give you a look into our love, our lives, and our hopes for the future.

From the moment we met in 1996 we were inseparable. We fell in love quickly and were engaged within 6 months, and then got married 6 months after that. After graduating from college we moved back to our hometown to be close to our family. We both wanted a large family and after years of trying and 4 miscarriages, our daughter, Tessa, was born in 2002. Ruby was born in 2005. We have always wanted to adopt, and feel that adding to our family through adoption is a natural step for us.

We live in a small, rural community and enjoy doing the simple things in life--baking cookies, playing in the backyard, going to the park, and doing crafts together. Our marriage is very close and we are a happy and tight knit family. We don’t have activities that draw us away from our home. We find strength in each other and work together as a team to raise our family.
Byron works in the Judicial Branch for the State. He is home by 5pm every day, and as soon as he walks through the door it’s all daddy time for Tessa and Ruby! One of the most important things to us is that Kari is a stay-at-home mom. She has stayed home with the girls since our oldest was born, and will continue to do so. There wasn’t a lot of sacrifice involved in making that decision because it was something that we felt was a necessity. We are thankful that Byron has a successful career that has always provided for anything we have ever needed. We don’t live lavishly, but we do have a cozy and comfortable home filled with everything we need. Tessa and Ruby share a bedroom, and we have a bedroom all ready for our next child.

We have a lot of family support and Kari’s parents live right around the corner from us. Our girls go and see Gram and Poppy everyday and spend countless hours over there with them. They are both retired and their favorite thing in the world is to have the kids over at their house with them. Byron’s parents live about 4 hours from us and we see them quite often, too. We go and see them or they come here at least once every few months. We both have siblings that live around the same area as they do, so we try to see them often also.

We are a family who loves pets. We have a little dog, Roxy, who is very gentle and calm. We also have 2 cats--an orange tabby named Diego, and a gray tabby named Mia. They are all very good with the kids and we often find the kids cuddled up sleeping next to one of the animals.
About Byron by Kari: When Byron was 7 years old he had his lower right leg amputated due to a birth defect. He has had a prosthetic leg since then. In the 12 years that we have been together, I have never known that to slow him down. In fact, he loves to dress up as a pirate every year for Halloween, and has actually made himself a real peg leg out of one of his old prosthetics! It gets a lot of laughs and a lot of stares! Children (and adults!) from all over town come to our house every Halloween to see the “real” pirate. Halloween is by far his favorite holiday and something he plans out for months in advance.

About Kari by Byron: She has a silly sense of humor and enjoys giggling and playing with the kids. She has a soft spot in her heart for animals and can fall in love with any cat or dog. She is a very caring person with a strong will. If she feels that someone is in trouble she will speak up and do whatever she can to help. Our children are the center of her life and she truly loves being at home with them. Kari also has a passion for decorating our home with antique and unique pieces of furniture. She has made our home a welcoming and warm place that is very kid friendly.
About Tessa and Ruby: Tessa is 7 years old and is a very kind hearted and gentle child. She is soft spoken. She has a huge love for animals--especially horses. She loves going to dance class every week. Ruby is 4 and is our wild child! She has a very spunky personality and loves to sing. She is also in dance with Tessa. They both love to be outside playing in the backyard and to be at their Gram’s house.

We hope that you can learn more about who we are by looking through our pictures and that you will find everything you are looking for in our family.
We would like to thank you for taking the time to learn about our lives and our dreams to add another child to our family. We know it has to be hard to know what we are like by reading this profile and looking at our pictures, but we hope we were able to give you a glimpse into our lives. We live a simple life and have happy children, and we can promise you that your child would have a home filled with giggles, a little bit of craziness, and a lot of love. We wish you only the best in your decision.

Byron and Kari
