Don & Rebecca are hopeful adoptive parents from Texas waiting to adopt a baby.
If you are pregnant and considering placing your child for adoption, please read the following Dear Birthmother Letter.

Dear Birth Mom,
Hi! Thank you for taking the time to look at our profile and learn a little more about us as you make this difficult, but special journey, and you choose the right family to place your baby with for adoption. Thirty-five years ago my Birth Mom was sitting in your place, faced with the same difficult decision to place me for adoption. I am so grateful to her each day for her selflessness and for putting my needs first as she made the choice to find the perfect family for me…….a couple desiring to have a child of their very own and who were able to provide a wonderful life with stability and financial resources. Both of these things my biological mother wished she could do, however was unable to provide at the time of her young college age. Not a birthday goes by that I don’t think about her and remain thankful for the extremely hard choice she made many years ago to place me for adoption. Now I feel like our lives have come full circle as Don and I now make the adoption of a beautiful baby girl or precious little boy our FIRST choice as we plan to fulfill our dream over the last five years of completing our family!
About Us
We found each other in 21st century style……on an Internet data site. After a few weeks of emailing we decided to meet out on a small Mexican restaurant patio one Sunday afternoon for some appetizers and drinks. We enjoyed each other’s company and getting to know each other along with people watching on a popular city street. Our first date went so well we ended the afternoon by going dancing that night at a club across the street. We continued to enjoy each other’s company and friendship during the next three years on many dates from dinner to dancing and concerts. Soon we fell in love and realized that our lives were much more fulfilling when sharing them with each other. On our first fishing trip together in the spring of 2003 Rebecca caught her best present ever on the end of her fishing line……an engagement ring! We were later married that September.
Don’s Thoughts on Rebecca
Growing up as a child I had the fortune of having two loving parents, who not only loved my sister and me unconditionally, but each other for the things they did for their marriage. These are the same traits I love about the marriage I have with Rebecca. Rebecca’s love is easy to describe because it is shown in all the activities she carries on with throughout the day. Whether it is communicating with one of her seven-year old students, a parent with a question about their child, or talking with me at the end of the day. Her love is shared with everyone she comes in contact with. This is one of the main reasons it was easy for me to fall in love with Rebecca and I know that the child that enters into our life will have the love and support that I was honored to receive growing up. God and family are always first with Rebecca and I love her for that…
Rebecca’s Thoughts on Don
Don is a funny, smart, thoughtful, hard working, and kind man. These traits captured my heart early on. His sense of humor was evident as a DJ on a family oriented radio station. Seeing how he entertained and engaged his listeners along with my first and second grade students during his occasional class visits, was one of my first cues that Don would make a fabulous father. Don is also a very hard worker putting himself through college and earning undergrad and graduate degrees. Don remains a lifelong learner, as he recently decided to enter into the field of insurance earning many more certifications. Don is also a very thoughtful and kind man. He will send me a card at work unexpectedly, or cook a gourmet meal after I’ve had a long day. Don is also a handyman, as he has been remodeling our house. He has been a great Uncle to his older sister Stacy’s three kids. He has been there at birthdays to help assemble the trampoline or scooter, and even built a toy box for our great niece. I know Don will make a good elf on Christmas Eve whether it is assembling the Barbie house or an electric train track!
Our Lifestyle
We are very easy going people, and we both enjoy doing a lot of the same things together. On the weekends you can find us remodeling our house, going out with friends, or snuggled up at home watching a Blockbuster movie! We spent time traveling when we were first married from going to New York for our honeymoon to seeing the sights and sounds of the Las Vegas Strip to visiting Disney World and riding Space Mountain. We look forward to sharing many new adventures with a child, and seeing their excitement as they discover many new things for the first time. Rebecca loves jungle animals, and is already planning a safari theme for the baby’s nursery. She enjoys choosing a new theme each year for her classroom and playing the “Clean Desk Fairy” at school. We are hoping to soon have the chance to play the “Tooth Fairy” at home.
Our Home
We have enjoyed remodeling our home over the last six years. It is wonderful that Don can figure out just about any project and he recently installed granite counter tops in our kitchen and built an entertainment center with cabinets in our living room. (Don’t all men need to have the perfect place for their flat screen television?) We live in a very diverse and family oriented neighborhood with older families and younger ones. Parks and excellent schools are very important in our town and we live near an elementary school and middle school as well as a local community college. Even though we have great schools in the area Rebecca plans to take her child with her to the private school where she teaches second grade. She is very excited that many of the young teachers at her school have started their families, and the school will have its own nursery in the fall for faculty and staff.
Our Furry Friends
We have 1 dog and 1 cat which are both indoor pets. Bevo, is our young, small, white American Eskimo who we adopted from a rescue group a few years ago. He loves to cuddle and will nuzzle up to your nose if you let him. He is spoiled as well and loves to eat his Frosty Paws Ice Cream for dogs and an occasional cheese single. We enjoy accessorizing Bevo to the extent which he lets us, after all how can you not purchase those cute sun glasses for your dog. Bevo enjoys visiting his great nieces, grandparents, and going to family celebrations. He even exchanges gifts at Christmas with our niece’s dog, Spirit! Sometimes we plan where we will go out to eat by choosing a restaurant with a dog friendly patio. While out we get so many compliments on Bevo and his behavior we feel like he is our child. Casey, is our fluffy white Persian cat. He loves taking cat naps around the house, enjoying the warmth of the lights under our tree at Christmas time and giving Bevo a gentle wack on the nose when he’s had enough of Bevo playing with him. It is funny how Bevo and Casey truly look like brothers since they both have pure white soft fur.
“Not flesh of my flesh nor bone of my bone
But still miraculously my own
Never forget for a single minute;
You didn’t grow under my heart
But in it.” -Fleur Conkling Heylinger
We deeply thank you for taking the time to look at our profile and getting a glimpse into our lives. The above poem was given to Rebecca in a small pink picture frame by her adoptive mom when she was a teenager. Again, we feel like our lives have come full circle as when we started the adoption process and we received this same meaningful poem on a bookmark given to us at our adoption orientation. We both hope to share this poem with our future child as we explain the miracle of adoption and how much love their biological mom had for him or her. Both of us are very excited to start this new and exciting chapter of our lives. We look forward to sharing our love with a child and guiding him or her in achieving the dreams their heart desires! We began praying for you and your baby daily from the moment we started this process. May God be with you through this challenging decision, and lead you to the family which is best for the needs of you and your baby.
With much love and admiration,
Rebecca and Don
