Mike & Kelly are hopeful adoptive parents from New Jersey waiting to adopt a baby.

If you are pregnant and considering placing your child for adoption, please read the following Dear Birthmother Letter.

Thanks for taking the time to get to know us a little better. We have always wanted to be parents, ever since we were married seven years ago. We feel we have so much love to give and are grateful for the loving decision you are considering.

We are both writers and are lucky enough to work from home, with a flexible schedule that will allow us to be attentive and involved parents.

Our town has long been known for its diversity. It’s a terrific place to raise children, full of families of all races and a large number of adoptive families as well.

Our neighborhood is the type of street that has block parties and cook-outs and is full of kids. Much of our extended family lives within a 45-minute drive, including five nieces and nephews. We have a diverse family as well with a bi-racial niece and nephew. We love where we live and can’t wait to raise a child here.
Our life We like to head to the beach for vacations and spend weekends with friends and family, eating and laughing, or have a date night out to dinner and a movie. Kelly loves to cook and spends Saturdays at the local farmer’s market picking up whatever is in season or whatever fish has just been caught that morning.

Chloe, our silly dog, has been a big part of our lives for nine years. She is great with kids (and not so great with mailmen and groundhogs) and we love her very much.

Kelly takes her morning walks with Chloe through wooded trails up the street, where all the dogs run off-leash. Chloe heads straight for the muddy streams or the squirrels, whichever she sees first. Mike plays ball with Chloe endlessly.

We both grew up with sports, which are still a big part of our lives. Mike loves pro football and basketball and Kelly loves college football and soccer and has also coached kids from ages 5 to 12 in soccer and softball. Kelly plays tennis and Mike runs and trains with a “boot camp” workout group in the park, though doing squats and sprints is nothing like the real boot camps he did when he was in the military with the National Guard.
How we met We met thanks to Kelly’s best friend. She had met Mike at work and once she found out that he lived in the same town as Kelly, she wanted to introduce us. In effect, it was a blind date – so blind Kelly didn’t even know it was a date. Kelly just thought she was meeting for a bite to eat so when Mike showed up at her apartment all dressed up, she was a bit surprised. It was August and as usual, she was wearing a t-shirt, shorts and sandals. That first date – we realized we had much in common. Now here we are, so many years later, hoping to share our love for each other with a child.

About Mike, written by Kelly

Mike has the most gentle and generous spirit. When I watch him play with friends’ babies, he is on the ground with them, making even funnier faces than the babies themselves. He is quick to play a game of peek-a-boo with them or tickle them silly. He also has fun goofing around with our nieces and nephews, whether that’s playing video games or cards with them or talking to them about the latest favorite sci-fi or scary movie he’s seen. He will be a great dad.

He is a very hard worker and terrific writer. He has written five books and has been able to pursue a career that he loves. He has a military background and is also a licensed private pilot who flies single-engine planes. He grew up in Maryland and has lived in Boston, Dallas and Washington D.C.

And did I mention he will be a terrific dad?
About Kelly, written by Mike There isn’t a more wonderful person in the world than Kelly. I’ve never met anyone who possesses her combination of generosity and intelligence. I’m the luckiest man alive.

Her compassion and smarts will make Kelly an excellent mom. She is a fantastic aunt to her nieces and nephews who appreciate the large amounts of time she spends with them.

Kelly also loves her job as a reporter. It’s a blessing to be able to work from home, but also through the years she has been able to travel because of her job. She has been to every state except four and has traveled to several countries overseas. This has shaped her as well, giving her an appreciation for different walks of life and cultures.

She is beginning to write children’s books, ready to embrace the next stage of her life. I don’t think we’ve ever been more prepared or wanted something more than being parents. In the end, I know that Kelly will be the greatest of moms because she’s already the greatest of persons.

Thanks
Thanks again for taking the time to learn more about us. We are so appreciative of the loving decision you are considering. It is our dream to be parents. Surrounded by so many adoptive families in our town and amid our diverse family, we can’t wait to open up our hearts and our home.
